both rikka and akane are actually at least bi so there is no text in the movie that can ever harm me
and if there's other merits to the story that make up for the lack of curtain payoff -- then wouldn't the instructor simply NOT call out the curtains for attention? iirc the whole blue curtains thing started in the first place with some dumb teen complaining about being challenged by english class
and in that case why would that story be considered good enough to merit organized study as an example of "this is what we consider good artistic use of language to create cultural artifacts"?
also if someone put a detail into a longer text and then didn't actually do anything substantial with it (like, have the character do something significant that lines up with the personality trait exemplified by having blue curtains, hopefully among many other things) they're probably a bad writer
like, the story doesn't have to come out and say "this character deliberately chose blue because it lines up with their preferences and personality and makes sense under that lens" for it to still be true. even that bit of "world-building" grounds the story and fleshes out the character
even in a circumstance where "curtains being blue" doesn't "represent" something symbolically, it is still a fact that the blue curtains were put there deliberately by a character for some reason, and they at least chose blue because they themselves liked blue, so that's a character attribute
what really aggravates me about this whole thing is how little so many of them care. granted, like, i'm still there, but at least i don't use a phone anymore (i didn't like doing it to begin with and much preferred the computer)
help my bird flew away with usb stick 37/236 and now i can't extract this big spanned zip file
remember back when people would say that it would be cheaper to fedex a hard drive to somewhere than do a network data transfer for certain use cases back in the day? guess what's coming back!
that's what the "sfs" really stands for
this attitude, even if expressed in jest, is symptomatic of the larger problem. why are you entirely lacking in dignity, and also entirely unconcerned with protecting whatever dignity we have left as a community of individual human beings
even though i know what this is, it still sounds like the description of a piece of dexter's lab fanart
it wasn't even so much the particular opinions, for me, as the ridiculousness of the situation. it had been a long time since i was forced to deal with normies and it kinda shocked me a little bit
last time i went out to eat at the noodle place near my work there were two people on a date sitting near me & the girl was very loudly saying the most boring and mundane things while the guy (at least 20 years older than her) sat there laughing loudly. die hard christmas movie was one of the things
i haven't even lived in the same place for more than five years. currently all my shit is either in storage units or being held outside my reach in the attic of a barn in another state with no way to get to it. i've been evicted, even homeless before! people with childhood bedrooms strike me as soft
"what's good for the goose is good for the gander"
there's also two laundromats right around the corner from the place (as well as both a 7-11 and a famima) so even if the on-prem units were all full i could at least go to the ones in the neighborhood. those are 24/7 as well i think
hope it wasn't apa....
also yeah i stay at this place in yushima like 15 minute walk from akiba station and like nobody knows about it and it has 2 washers and 2 dryers (one doesn't work right now) but very few people use it so i just do my laundry in the middle of the night usually
oh that's even better you don't have to pay for it even. first airbnb i did over there seven years ago had a washer in the house and a clothesline for drying.
air-drying takes forever though is my only caveat, but then again, japanese dryers are turned down ridiculously low so it takes hours anyway
does your place have a laundry spot / are you gonna be near a laundromat? i found this past trip that i didn't even use half the clothes i brought along because i just did some laundry whenever it was starting to pile up
(while wearing a twelve-foot tall dunce cap) doesn't that just stop the first-generation people from being shitheads, what if they themselves aren't being shitty but the accounts eventually spawned from their own generated invite codes (or those of later generations) are
i have cool friends and i love my friends. love to have fun with my friends posting on websites. it's cool and good to have fun with other people on the computer!
if it helps you feel any better the word "guy" can be used in just as gender-neutral a manner as "dude", "fella", or any other word you like
anyway my point, to completely sidestep the argument you're trying to start, is that they suck
i like the idea of the site's available slots growing slowly and steadily outward like a population of single-celled organisms. it's fun
but sometimes you get some sort of weird algae bloom when the other site that sucks, starts sucking more all of a sudden, and people start coming here real quick
you sound personally mad. do you also get mad when you see "you guys" used as a second-person plural pronoun
fair, my main point is mostly that i just want to see less people on here honestly. twitter was good when you had to know how to use the computer to get on there and i have a personal conviction that this site benefits from a smaller userbase
you don't even need multiple separate email addresses to redeem them. you can just go
and they'll all work and be considered separate email addresses even though they wind up going into one inbox in the end
the one thing that i think staves off the bleeding is the fact that you can't get more than 5 codes at once. but they do still multiply every two weeks which is exponential growth, and i have also verified that the site doesn't sanitize email addresses to strip out +addressing so
also i dunno maybe it's just me but i think there's a difference between a bunch of people very pointedly telling me "don't make it easier for people who suck to get in here where it is not centrally moderated you fucking idiot" vs going "you're doing just fine sweetie never second-guess yourself"
torn between the sentiment "elon needs to fucking die" and the recognition that a bunch of people would consider him a fucking martyr if he did wind up dead
personally i am mostly still there because friends and artists are there but i hold no other loyalty to a website
anyway my main thing is the more friction we can put against people casually being able to get an account on here, without at least personally knowing at least one person who thinks "they don't suck that bad" enough to consider them an ok member of the site, the better
that person seemed extremely aggressive and internet-pissed-off in a way that usually denotes immaturity. almost like they had an axe to grind against everybody and everything and was incapable of introspection
also the tenor of the people who rallied to their defense was massively creepy
i didn't read it on here i predicted it was going to happen before it did when i saw the original thread about it
then i saw a bunch of people complaining about the issue weeks later and put two and two together
i mean do what you want on here! just saying
it sucked p bad! i wasn't even the only person who told them, weeks before the first reports of "a bunch of stupid weirdos and fascists are getting in here", that it was likely to happen, and then guess what!
like no i don't think they were solely responsible for it but i do think it didn't help
when they first posted about it it was super aggressive like "why are you holding this site back by not giving all your invites away to random people" and when my honest response was "i want people who don't suck on here" then they called me rude things and put me on blast to thousands of chasers
didn't we just have to deal with a bunch of nazis or whatever getting in here because people were sharing codes
that rotating sandwich guy who sucks got a lot of flak recently for doing exactly that
I was all set to hop into the comment section on the site and explain that you completely misread the movie, the character and the archetype, but nearly 30 people got to it first and said a lot of the same things i was going to say
congratulations on not "getting" the movie or the comic, man!
if you can find NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER on there, i highly recommend that one. jean claude is in it
oh man, had you not seen it before? it destroys
it's not just about housing, and i get that the point here is to push your "if i were king of the world and could boil everything down to a small set of variables fully set by dictum" thread but the point still stands that 70k, which should be extraordinarily well-off all things considered, isn't
just letting you know these numbers are totally off-base now. i make 70k and can't afford a place on my own anymore becausea 1br apt is over 2 grand a month to RENT and houses cost over half a million dollars with almost a grand a month in property taxes alone. fucking 70k is shit money now.
as an "older millennial" the whole "generation x is nihilist and dropped the ball" attitude is entirely wrongheaded. gen x are not nihilist. they simply refused to give a shit about things previous generations wanted them to. that is good. we'd be in a worse spot right now if they hadn't done this
