I did lose my shit completely seeing Mik. Wasn't prepared for that. 😭
Just watched "Tish" on BBC2. Awesome, moving, beautifully crafted.
You are Professor Denzil Dexter and I claim my five pounds. 🤣 www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jy5O...
Similar. I have no smart phone, plus, my photography computer isn't connected to the internet at all. No viruses, no temptation to browse whilst working, no cloud storage and *no* subscriptions to Adobe...
Today is the first day I've noticed that Fatface is a clothing shop and not the fast food joint I thought it was. This must be the something new I learn everyday.
Mmmpff... That doesn't sound an ideal start. Do you have a way to measure the current drawn through the filament loop? The tubes need a while for the heat to start radiating so you'll not feel it immediately. Yeah, they're all chained, so all of the filaments are fed with the same voltage.
"safety mechanism" = anything that can be defeated with a short length of wire or gaffer tape.
Gotta love their optimism! 😂
My pleasure. Keep in touch... I'm old enough to remember working with valves.
Good man! It's worth a try, if the filaments run up then there's every chance the patient will recover. Please don't fire up with the HT supply yet (almost certainly it'll go bang) and remember most valve radios have a live chassis - whilst the HT battery is low current, it'll still bite you hard.
Connect just the low tension supply and see if you get warm valves. If not, consider checking for dry joints before giving up. You'll not find valve replacements now so if the joints are good and the valves don't emit infrared, you've probably already exhausted the options...
My schematic says that the B battery potential is 45V, that's just 5 x 9V cells. Is your set a different model?
Almost certainly it won't work correctly as the old paper capacitors / carbon resistors will be life-ex'd. If you have a little time and a soldering stick it's worth a blanket change. 👍
But that's not a... Uh... Y'know what, never mind. Regards to your wife, I don't think it's me she's going to hate.
"Where's the FM3a?" he asked dangerously and through gritted teeth.
It would have been interesting to find out! There was a period in the mid 80s when the briefcase was replaced - briefly - by that most ubiquitous of items, the Filofax, titular symbol of the thrusting young professional meeting-goer. That period didn't last long in Lincoln. Thankfully.
I often wondered what my bosses put in theirs, they always carried them but never opened them except to remove sandwiches.
I'm rubbish at 3d, I just don't have the brain that copes with mechanicals. I can design electronic circuits to do anything you want, though. Good thing that used to be my job.
It looks like your design and fitting skills are not in question, Neal. I could do with similar that can hold 12 pens - and I'm going to guess that I'm not the only one on here running probably too many pens at once.
Lilac splash would be a nice touch!
Funny you should suggest that. 😇
Another 16 years of being a teenager to look forward to. The neighbours and store security are going to hate it.
👍 I think my life expectancy increased when I had to give up flying and racing motocross.
I was firmly convinced in my youth I'd not make 30. To have made twice my expectation is good. Happy with that.
🤣 I'm done with being cleverer, people want you to go to work and do intuleckshul stuff.
I did treat myself a new suit for my birthday. Well, when I say suit... 😇 I think you can probably guess the colour and name on the label.
Pleased to report that I don't look a day over sixty, probably because I'm now two days over sixty.
(It was a nicely understated affair. Don't think I'll bother doing it again though.)
No, but the Parker has an annoying habit of drying out very quickly, despite being the most expensive in my set.
I'd love to do another exhibition, it's been so long. However, as there's a film in my camera that's been there since August and I still have a backlog of films to process it's not going to be anytime soon. 😧 2024 is not going to be my year.
I see they've managed to put another view buggering broadband pole there too. 🤬 Why the hell they can't use the existing underground ducts is beyond me.
You never know, when I get the chance to get back into it I'll maybe give you some competition! 😀
Me too and it's someone I've never heard of, nor spoken with.
*shrugs*
Must have been the mention of Adidas, maybe he's a Nike fanboy.
