🤣 true! In the fall the warblers are often quiet. They are also all olive green/ brown with stripes and a bit of yellow. Every. Single. One.
🤣 there are a lot that look similar here, and when they lose their breeding colours in the Fall, it’s impossible 🤣
🤣 oh it’s too late! If the rabbit doesn’t get it the birds certainly will!
Thanks Dave, it’s such a pretty little warbler! It also has a black bib that you can just make out a bit on this side view.
Yellow seems to be a common colour component for sure! It’s amazing how colourful and varied warblers are!
Wow, it would be amazing. I think all the terns I’ve seen are small and streamlined.
They are! I guess they travel so far that it’s good to have some friends along!
🤣 yes! And those feet are just hanging there at the top of the arc!
Thanks Mike, I had to look that one up and is it ever similar! Beautiful warblers!
Young ones would be amazing to see!
And it’s great how the warblers seem to come through in groups. We saw a blackpoll warbler within a few minutes of this one!

It’s funny how they arrive in groups. We saw a blackpoll warbler within a few minutes of each other!
🤣 that’s outstanding! I was able to get another flying one of him last night and it looks like he’s been photoshopped in!

We had a new bird to us arrive in the yard today!
This male mourning warbler dropped in for a quick rest and some foraging, before heading on its way!🪶
I hate when that happens and it keeps them from trying. They have enough to deal with and these giant storms don’t help.
I think you’re bright that they are anchored and that does happen occasionally here too. A lot of these little urban marshes are retention ponds so they can fill pretty quickly during huge storm.
Yes, there is some competition with the Jacanas! Great feet either way!
Thanks Dave, they are a funky looking bird! I think the nest floats and they were adding to it throughout my time there. They actually have two eggs but one was hiding!
The problem is when we’re shooting very faith things, even a slight hesitation on our part misses it. I know I shoot too many but I can’t help it🤣
Horned grebes are common little grebes in our marshes.
The nest is tucked into the reeds and they take turns sitting on the eggs. During one changeover, this one stood up to show an egg and their spectacular grebe feet!
This is taken with a big lens so they are not disturbed.🪶
Thank you! There is a lot of luck involved with just keeping them in the frame!
Thanks a lot Dave! It’s nice leisurely flight was definitely interrupted when he spied that bug!
Oh no! There’s that finger doing its own thing again, when the brain says keep firing!
They sure are a gorgeous little bird!
Thanks a lot Andrea! The bug sure caused an abrupt detour! This was the next frame when dignity left the room!
Thanks Patrick!
They are a pretty large blackbird and I think this was a beetle of some type. It seemed to have the “gullwing doors” that they deploy to unfold their wings.
