I love hummingbirds, I love their bold personalities, their flying skills and I genuinely miss them when they leave on their unbelievably long migration. I wish them all a safe journey and look forward to seeing them next spring. 🪶
Wow…
The season’s first snows have frosted the Rocky Mountains, northern Plains, Great Lakes and northern New England over the past week, resulting in the most extensive early-November snow cover in at least two decades.
Early-season snow has been driven by a major cold outbreak. But will it last?
www.washingtonpost.comSeveral of our bluebird fledglings and a parent. We set up 3 bluebird boxes this year in the yard and in one of the 3 boxes, we successfully had 5 fledglings from a pair of hardworking parents. I can’t tell you how much the amount of joy watching them succeed brought us. ❤️ 🪶
No amount of bloodshed or people killed will change the minds of those with the power to change the laws in this country. We all know that, so let’s just be prepared for more mass killings!!! And more useless gum flapping …
No amount of people murdered be it children and others will change the gun laws in this country, there is too much money at stake for those who can but won’t make the change.
Maine is facing intense scrutiny over its permissive gun laws following the mass shooting in Lewiston, where 18 people were killed on Oct. 25. Recent attempts to enact laws requiring universal background checks and waiting periods have failed.
A state ban on assault weapons? Expanded concealed-carry restrictions? Tighter mental health laws? As Maine grieves, it weighs a roiling debate over gun laws.
www.nytimes.comHas ASCO considered opening a BlueSky account? Would love to see more med/onc content here.
I was fortunate to be able to get an acct here but still am on X because a lot of the oncology folks still post there and Bluesky is still impossible to join. I wish it wasn’t that way but until Bluesky becomes more accessible, we are stuck with X and it’s impossible number or porn spammers.
The PNW is beautiful but I want a lot of sun and warmth … nice to visit but wouldn’t want to live there. California has the perfect weather and is beautiful, especially the central coast and Northern California.
Have done some on my iPad Pro using the Lightroom app but the majority of my editing is done with Topaz Denoise and Lightroom Classic on my Surface Pro. I prefer to use my computer, will use the iPad when in a pinch.
Your doc hasn’t gone concierge as yet? It’s happening all over now and becoming impossible to find a good primary care doctor who is willing to accept a new patient. Otherwise doctors are now charging upwards of $2k/year for you to see them as concierge provider, in addition to charging your insur
A black capped chickadee loves to drink from the water well in the hummingbird feeders, despite having lots of fresh water in the various birdbaths I have all around. 🪶
Thanks. They are so much fun to watch and are one of my favourites to photograph
A Northern Parula, this is a tiny warbler that is difficult to see and tends to be found high up in the tree canopy. 🪶 #birds
BTW that’s the nictitating membrane that you see in the photo of the crow. If you look at it closely, you can see the blood vessels in the membrane. www.audubon.org/news/birds-h....
I was able to get a photo of one but it wasn’t great since it was high up in the tree canopy, makes them difficult to see and capture. One warbler I was able to capture clearly was a lovely small bird, a Northern Parula
Yes they are, great memories of fantastic times with good friends in SoCal
Reminds me of the summer days hanging out at El Porto … Sun, sand, surf and the smell of suntan lotion!!
A total tRump move of blaming others but never ever accepting responsibility for anything
There should be a ban on Christmas ads being shown on TV before Thanksgiving… call me bah humbug but soon we will have year round Christmas ads on TV!!! Christmas ads are appearing earlier and earlier every year
Sadly I agree and it’s terrifying watching how humans are potentially driving the extinction of their own and other living animals.
Love this iconic bridge and enjoyed cycling across it stopping to take in the magnificent views.
I think they over time recognize us and they are likely then to hang out feeding knowing they won’t come to any harm.
A Downy Woodpecker perched and looking around. These are very brave birds that will feed at my suet feeders with me standing there watching them just a few feet away. 🪶
