I would recommend Rashid Khalid, his book is very well sourced, and a very good introduction to this subject.

Thats a great book. I also liked Szymanski's work on the Soviet Union. Its on the Marxist Internet Archive.

It's such a great movie, I prefer it to the book but the book is great too, but it's the only one if his I read.
