The extra step missing here is that then companies turn around, say "look at these dumb bullshit lawsuits we have to waste time with", lobby for court reform, get bureaucrats to agree, now its harder to sue companies for actual, legitimately bad stuff.

We don’t actually have that in the US. The epidemic of frivolous lawsuits is corporate propaganda intended to push to make it harder for people to sue corporations when they harm people. There are some cases of silly lawsuits, but they’re the exception, not the norm. There’s a good Adam Ruins -

oh, and I think there are 2 or 3 lawsuits over shares - so you have to figure what it's worth and what the potential impact of the lawsuits would be. again, good luck getting a bond on that.
