What's happening now is the new normal, every election from here is going to be the most important election, the one we absolutely have to vote Dem. When will it be so bad that we refuse to play the game anymore?

Unfortunatly Trump is going to win the 2024 election thanks to Russia rigging the elections. We if Trump wins in 2024, and another republican wins in 2028, we will be doomed.

Every single time we have to introduce us to new people we are faced with the fact that they will misgender us and we have to decide if we endure that or out ourselves. Both options are often less then desirable, but there is no other way.

I’m good until I remember that with the state the GOP is in, in order to avert fascism we don’t just have to win this years election, we have to win every election going forward, forever. Until the GOP deradicalizes or something less evil replaces them.

The sad reality is that if Trump does get to run, it will be him vs Biden. Any other candidate is gonna just Nader it up and take crucial votes away. There's no way we can have Trump win. I don't feel like we really have a choice in who we vote for if we don't want another dictator.

Voting is a duty, not a gift to be withheld if you don't have the perfect candidate. It will likely take several election cycles with everyone doing the work of voting in every election from dog catcher to President.

The other option is a candidate that will see to it that we never vote again.

The horrific realization that every progressive voter makes when they get to their 40s is that the GOP is relentless and will NEVER give up. They will always have the shittiest people lined up to get elected to fuck with us. In every election. Everywhere.

We have to vote against them forever.

We will have to deal with project 2025 no matter who is in office after the 2024 election

I don’t think this is it. When something happens that the congressional republican are fully unprepared for, they actually will have semi-normal reactions for a short time. We saw that when Trump fired Comey and they appointed Mueller, and we saw it again with initial covid response in early 2020.

We will always disagree. They will always put forward policy proposals that are heinous, but gone are the days when we could negotiate with them to get legislation passed. Now it is for them a zero sum game, and negotiation is seen as weakness. Democracy cannot work with that mindset in a party.

Dying is something we're all going to deal with. If we're lucky, when it's our time, it will be quick and painless.

If we're really lucky, the people we leave behind will be more glad to have known us than they will that we're gone.

2024 will end with Donald Trump becoming president again.
If we listen to Democrats and Liberals when they tell us stop asking for unrealistic things and calling for change and ceasefires and things that are good, Donald Trump will win the election this year.

Liberals tell us all the goddamn time that they don't need us and that we should sit down & shut up, but when we say "deal, we'll sit this one out", we're told that we are THE REASON that Trump will win. What is it: you don't need us & we're idiots or we are the lynchpin on which the election rests?

It's a problem no matter what because win or lose, if we have elections in 4 years we're going to have to come up with candidates that can win with both Democrats and Independents and by that time it will have to be younger candidates.

I do not support fascism. It seems like close to half the country does. We deal with what we have. Not supporting Biden is going to turn into really bad democracy-ending situation if it means that Trump will win.

Will, what would you like Democrats to do with the US car market if they had the votes in Congress? In other words, what's the policy agenda we should be energizing 2024 voters about? It seems like now is a good time to be articulating what we want to do if we win rather than just playing defense.

What no one is really prepared for, is that we have no mechanism to deal with ignoring the results of an election if you think about it. This is the most dangerous territory.  The judiciary really doesn’t have a way to deal with this.
