There was some pushback when I said the US might be a failed state, but I stand by it.

A democracy cannot allow insurrectionists to be actively calling for political violence with the backing of a major political party.

I've said before illiberal democracy with either lead to a military dictatorship or the breakup of the United States. Maybe in a century following the demise of the latter two things will start to feel "normal" like they do to us now.
