another dam blown up by the ruzzians
It's not really correct. The russians did not destroy the dam itself, but a bridge which connects the eastern and western part of the dam. By the way, this is only a dam for the street, the dam that stores the water is further south.
An injunction is like a dam above a village. If you destroy the dam, the village floods.
Idaho is asking SCOTUS to blow up the dam
It was the action that burst the dam, but it's not like all the water behind the dam hadn't been building up for quite some time.
It is noteworthy that the people who maintain this dam for hydropower *also do not want the dam to stay up*.
Great reporting about a terrible plan to "save" salmon on the Willamette. 🐟
Engineering solutions to engineered problems reminds me of lying to cover one's lies.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineer has ruled out opening Willamette River dams and letting fish coast the natural current to help improve survival numbers. It would cost next to nothing and has worked be...

Министр строительства России Ирек Файзуллин в беседе с журналистами раскритиковал дамбу, с прорыва которой началось затопление города Орск Оренбургской области.
meduza.ioYes, two of several in the Elan Valley. The one with the water flowing over is Pen y Garreg dam. The one that doubles as a bridge is a submerged dam called Garreg Ddu.

Run! Run! Run! The Dam!
The dam what? #TCMParty #TheJohnstownFlood
Lucerne is a great day-trip, and my favorite spot is the Reuss Wier needle dam and it's hydro-power plaza. A needle dam has pickets that are manually added or removed to control the water flow. But the plaza is... a dam covering the power generation mechanism.
Infrastructure = Park.
Post Lucky Peak, another dam was considered for the Boise area. What was notable was not the dam itself, but how it was planned to be built: the dam was proposed to be constructed through nuclear explosions.

I see the evaporated water comin' from the server farms on the river and think of the little salmon that die from lack of water. The dam powers them and the falls were drowned by that dam.
"The Cloud now has a greater carbon footprint than the airline industry."
This is a haunting read.
Anthropologist Steven Gonzalez Monserrate draws on five years of research and ethnographic fieldwork in server farms to illustrate some of the diverse environmental impacts of data storage.
thereader.mitpress.mit.eduReminds me of the views after the Russians blew up the Kakhovka Dam.
"it's fine it's not a sewer it's just a dam overflow channel wait how did we get to the top of a fucking dam??"
“bern it down” is still holding a lot of appeal, which disgusts me. its like everyone is seeing a crumbling dam in a place they DO NOT LIVE and think the best course of action is to explode the dam and wash away the town below. DO NOT WASH AWAY THE TOWN. PEOPLE LIVE THERE. FIX THE DAM.
Visited the Urft Dam today.
The Dam was the scene of a series of failed Allied Air raids in December 1944.
It was thought that if the Urft dam was breached upstream from the Schwammenauel Dam, then the water level may be raised to a level to weaken and cause a breach if that was bombed as well.
the average dam actually has no georges at all. the three georges dam is an outlier and should not be counted
My place is ‘not behind the dam that just got whammed by a container ship’
This is my Ukraine. The Kakhovka dam seen from Gammalsvenskby/ Zmiivka in May 2011. Now drained after the destruction of the dam. We will be back.
"Hoover Dam"
The power transmission lines from Hoover dam. It is a concrete arch-gravity dam on the Colorado River, between the U.S. states of Nevada and Arizona.
