Over the past 3 days I’ve hosted 2 class meals in my home & attended our senior breakfast, where the cards I painted for each graduate were received with joy & surprise & I had delightful conversations with parents & grandparents. Tomorrow, I read names. All so, so good, & also so so draining.
For lunch, I made coronation chicken sandwiches, carrot coconut soup, a leafy green salad, pretzel rolls, and an apricot jam swirl cake. Brunch was ful mudammas, Afghan bread (bought), sizzling scallion labneh dip, carrot tahini salad and cardamom rose star bread.
Students knew the way to my heart when they asked for a garden tour. And today I got to talk about lots of different languages and reminisce about microfiche with a parent (to their graduate’s confusion) and discuss crafting storage with a grandparent
I got to laugh with students and their families and remind them what I said when they asked me what advice I had for them going into the “real world:” that they’ve been in the real world all along and I hope they hold fast to what they value and care for and that they flourish in their lives
Last weekend I nailed lunch by making chicken salad sandwiches because I was stripping a carcass to make chicken stock for dinner's soup. I wish it were always so easy
I had a mental breakdown the last time I was at my parents - and it was only for 3 days. I made an emergency appointment with my therapist for the day after I got home, it was so awful.
A regular sandwich with nothing but bread & the tuna salad I made is good as hell because my tuna salad was an expert culinary creation so that’s what I decided on for lunch.
I made wet bread and people were OK with it and I have cake for breakfast tomorrow so it’s a 10/10 Thanksgiving. I’m thankful for everyone who tolerates my authentic self.
I ordered Mac and Cheese for lunch but it came with a Italian sausage soup and they threw in some table rolls so I just ate those instead. So I got two meals for the price of one
I made a spicy carrot, lentil, coconut and sweet potato soup yesterday and I brought some in to work for lunch today so I feel VERY WHOLESOME AND VIRTUOUS
Our dinner tonight was mostly veg except I had chicken stock so I used it and I sautéed the mushrooms in bacon fat because mushrooms are so good with bacon fat and I had some from the bacon I fried for my lunch!
I’ve a powerful craving for french onion soup so i guess I’m making that on Tuesday (already have dinner planned for tomorrow and Monday; Spinach and feta stuffed chicken breasts, beetroot salad, and roasted sprouts, and Meatloaf, green beans, and bread rolls)
Nah, coronation chicken was the best. I already loved chicken salad sandwiches, and loved indian food, so mixing the two together was Ideal Natalie Food.
The jam I made (yes I'm still talking about the jam) is so tasty, that I want more than 2 slices of toast for breakfast. Yesterday, I went all Sound of Music with "tea a drink with jam and bread" for my mid morning snack.
My week so far is as you'd expect ... 🙄 Anyway - happy hump day
having ADHD is so exhausting but i've gotten better at task stacking. made myself breakfast, but also had to cut up some green onions i've had in the fridge for almost 2 weeks. so i left the green onions on a chopping board with a knife so i had to tackle that before i could wash the dishes
