Gender: hesher. Prata med mig på svenska om du vill. They/them (hen!). Cats, metal, games, horror, bugs, Star Trek, the band Ghost. Vincent Price poster. Silver Spring MD! I make movies
There’s a good book about this called The Sixth Extinction (which we are in the middle of)
My favorite movie we’ve watched is either Harold & Maude or Tokyo Drifter. I think my least favorite is actually The Pianist
We’ve watched a lot of movies and pretty well run the gamut on genre. I just realized 1912 isn’t tagged in here—one of the few explicitly war movies we’ve watched (we liked it)
There should be a registry like clowns painting their faces on eggshells
Please reply to me as much as you want (though I’m usually just yelling about movies or my cats)
Straight people need to understand that 80% of Hitchcock movies are about queer people
I went to block him and his whole recent timeline was a complete misunderstanding of Rope so there’s been humiliation at minimum
Never mind. Every scene in Graham’s apartment apparent is hot garbage sound. We shot in the most echoey house on earth 2 weeks ago and it sounds better than this. I love when real movies do technical garbage
Everyone in this room worked on our 48 HFP and there’s a scene in this movie where the sound is HOT GARBAGE and we are all like oh ho ho we did better in 48 hours than baby Stephen Soderberg
Tonight in movie club we’re watching a movie that all of us millennials classified as a Grown-Up Movie: Sex, Lies, and Videotape
We are all like oh ok this is a documentary on straight people
We have a wildly diverse selection and I should post it just so people can try and guess which were my picks
I’ll post all our movie club movies at some point if people are interested, but my letterboxd tag has it at 87 movies so it’ll take me some time 😊
For clarification: you can only pick a movie for movie club that you haven’t seen, and if other people have seen it, they have to be enthusiastic about watching it again

An accomplished, yet still reasonably lazy, Sunday (I’m going to have to mow the lawn eventually)
I am now drinking wine and getting ready to make a veggie taco bar for movie club
Oh perfect I was looking for a version to listen to, I’ll look for this one
Today I worked on Swedish and Spanish, had a bunch of bass practice, and started on a painting (the backgrounds are done so the great national tragedy of painting in backgrounds is over)
Ok I looked it up and it’s “picnic time for teddy bears” I should have guessed that. That’s on me
A minor but troubling crime of capitalism is that I associate the lovely children’s song Teddy Bears’ Picnic with the line “softer clothes for teddy bears” I don’t even know the real lyric and it’s Snuggle fabric softener’s fault
Someday when I’m not painting cats or weird burgers I’m going to paint Dio
Dick Tracy is educating people who still read print newspapers. This is probably more than any American politician has done in the last month
Gosh I’ve read about 80% of that list! Also Phil Rickman in general is one of my favorites
Ok I have practiced my song and it’s pretty good. I might play a little more later with non-assigned songs
She wrote a good nonfiction book about it, The American Way of Death
I really don’t remember what lyrics “I am several fish and not a guy” superseded at this point
Someday Bex will start practicing (on her electronic drum kit with headphones on) and I’ll immediately know what it is and not think it’s Boomer banging the litter out of his paws. It will happen
Altman thought going “you see a person talking, you hear them, it’s clear what’s happening…movies maybe shouldn’t be so clear” buddy you did not have to tell anyone who has ever seen your movies that you think this
I’m watching this 20-year-old documentary on an early cable station in Los Angeles and it’s got a ton of people I like in it (Robert Altman talking about how movies shouldn’t be too clear lmaoooo) but yelled at this very young Alexander Payne my god
It’s great! I think the movie is overly long but it’s fine because the book is short and snappy
The two women in the car talking about their futures. Just very simple but so well done
It was a really impressive batch of movies. Turner was probably my next favorite, Shift was SO good and such an unusual entry for this competition (reminded me of one of my favorite Swedish shorts that just takes place in a car with a mom and son talking)
Czech is cooler generally and Welsh has the Swedish thing where most people speaking it also speak English, but it’s also where my family is from so there’s that
(I want to throw in a third language but I’ve got to get out of Romance/Germanic. Thinking Welsh or Czech, still using familiar alphabets but different grammatical structures)
I’m enjoying hobbies again!! It only took like 4 years of intermittent to regular anhedonia
I have so much to do today and I’m sitting in bed playing games on my phone and petting the cat (absolutely none of my stuff to do is REQUIRED but I want to get my song down before class tomorrow and sketch my next painting and look at some future movie making planning stuff)
