Giving up on BlueSky . Getting to be too much like Twitter. Ciao
Here's a bunch of pictures of kids finding out they can fly an airplane. No big deal.
Also a dog.

If anyone should come by Monday they'll find a small pink bucket in them rain garden next to the irises. Can't miss it
I won't have them til Monday as I've got twins games until tomorrow evening
I'll have a small mound in a bucket in the rain garden by my driveway
2734 McKinley Dr
Woodbury
It won't look like much but they root quickly and should shoot out flowers by mid august
Always nice to start the day with good news.

A bill to legalize sports betting in Minnesota is in serious trouble.
www.twincities.comI screwed up and didn't get them dug before the rain. I can dig some tomorrow morning and drop them off if that would help. It'll be a small pot full but once they root, they spread quickly.
I can't recall the last time the Strib editorial board didn't pull it's punches
In the cellar with Minnesota state Sen. Nicole Mitchell.

An evenhanded process is needed for dealing with legislator behavior.
www.startribune.comDrat. Started the day by breaking my "Don't Be A Prick" coffee cup.
Spent $250 on all sorts of things for hummingbirds and Orioles yesterday. So far: nothing.
You could always subscribe to MLB.tv and use a vpn to get around the local blackout. Otherwise it's just the reality of being a fan of a poverty franchise,I'm afraid. The good news is young Pohlad got his money
Coverage includes audio and video clips, interviews, statistics, schedules and exclusive stories.
MLB.tv
Here's a pirate site for Twins. Yes it's full of malware so you'll need to be a little smart about it. Have proper protection, use VPN and close all tabs it opens immediately until it eventually gives you the game. Also works for Timberwolves.

I'm taking the snowblower back to the hangar today. Expect the worst.
I only used it once and that's mostly because I felt sorry for it .
The Dems failure could also be they keep putting up qualified people to be president who don't make good candidates. Republicans are better at winning elections. Democrats are better at governing and legislating.
I went to MPR's Young Artist presentation last night and now I know that a C on a clarinet is a different note from a C on a piano and now I'm glad I didn't go into music.
The MN Twins have no one to blame but themselves for the Bally-Comcast dispute. Twins should've walked away when Bally first missed a rights payment. Instead, they re-upped for another year of fan abuse .
I remember the headline of one column after the Vietnam War ended, that referenced the protests on college campuses"
"The Kids Were Right"
This Frog &Toad thing is some weird shit
www.twincities.com/2024/04/29/r...
Kudos to understudy John-Michael Zuerlein, whose Frog exudes a kindness and patience ideal for the part.
www.twincities.comImagine being able to have back to back series against two of the worst teams in baseball.
3M is closing its aviation unit and selling off its jets. I wonder what will happen to the two historical huuuuge WWII hangars at Holman Field?
Anyone interested in some anemone? It spreads fast so I'm digging some out of the pollinator garden where it's encroaching on the Lamb's Ear.
Points to the Pioneer Press which had a Timberwolves game story in its printed edition. The Star Tribune did not .
What a great 24 hours
Timberwolves win
Guardians beat Braves
Bruins beat Toronto (again)
Kelly Fenton stirring it up against Nicole Mitchell on NextDoor (aka: "lost and found for racists").
So she's running.
I'm a big fan of Fred Child so I'm going to MPR Tuesday for his Young Artist Series. I will be wearing a disguise.
Bingo

Public radio has become "too predictable and a bit boring,” writes Jack Mitchell, a founding producer of “All Things Considered.” “Fix that by letting ideas clash. Generate light with some heat.”
current.orgThe new constitution that the corrupt supreme Court is writing is essentially Ricardo Nixon's wet dream. Which is why his body should've been thrown into a pit with pig carcasses when he died .
A board has the ability to change restrictions if certain criteria or met. Also I think some of that increase in endowment "contributions" could be income (dividends) from investments.
The question I have is what percentage of the endowment was spent, not the size of the endowment YTD. Anything ovr 7 percent is a sign of trouble.
It means a donor restricted how the money could be used and/or the Board did.
"Assets" on financial statements are usually just accounting wizardry since it include tangible and intangible assets.
The shocking thing there is that the endowment is down to $39 million. Clearly they used $70-$100 million in the last 10 years or so which shows how unsustainable the current business model and points back to my original prediction. They're in BIG trouble.
Doesn't surprise me. The market got whacked pretty hard in '22. Realized losses also used to offset gains and you can carry those over.
The hardest part of reading social media accounts today is the horrible rewriting of the impact of Kent State on the national psyche by people who obviously weren't born yet or just enjoy lying.
Big cuts at NPR, WBUR, KQED, and WBEZ this month. All SAG/AFTRA shops. I'd be very surprised if more aren't coming to MPR/APM, except there isn't a media beat reporter in this market to tell us.
