Looking for a new job is hot trash when every single opening seems to be at Torment Vortex, Inc.
Hairy woodpecker at the suet feeder! Seen them about but this is the first time they've stopped in for a bite #birds
I have a joke about Circe but people won't stop being pigs about it
I got a great joke about Sisyphus. It starts with him at the bottom of this hill and he has this stone, right? He pushing this stone up a hill. I forgot, Zeus forced him to do it. He was...
Wait. I messed up the joke.
Let me start over.
Man, the current state of the FPS genre is weirdly not great if you just want to shoot a dude. I don't want to care about loot or RPG mechanics or abilities or Beautiful Open Worlds, I just want Use Gun On Man and I don't want to give any money to activision
Mean Websites aside, more people need to internalize "only a fool would take anything posted here as fact"
Just got my new phone and let me tell you, I'm absolutely *thrilled* that rounded edges are finally out.
I'm not much of a short form poster but I've been enjoying occasionally dumping stuff out of my brain just as a method of refining it. Brevity is indeed the soul of wit and that's made very clear when my hilarious though is completely not translatable to 300 characters
Had a wayward thought that you could sell mental health to devs by relating it to dev processes, then immediately realized that the kind of dev that won't go to therapy is also the kind of dev that doesn't believe in code review
one of the things i love about my brain drugs is that they 90% eliminate the ridiculous adhd overthinking of minor social interactions. Just say happy birthday to that person you haven't talked to in 10 years on facebook, it's not that weird jfc
have you considered not taking a Vyvanse and instead not having a long enough attention span to get mad at anything online, or in fact do anything, at all, that requires more than 5 mins of attention?????
I wonder if SomethingAwful still has enough LP posters to get that level of engagement anymore
I feel like there's comparisons to be made with the state of media and 8-episode-all-plot-netflix specials. Sure, a 22 episode season that's half filler doesn't engage you quite as much, but at the same time that filler builds relationships and invests you in the people so the climaxes hit harder
Rereading the Syrupleaf dwarf fortress LP and it really stirs up some kinda feel. Individually, a lot of the gimmicks are middling at best, but some of the climaxes are genuinely spectacular and couldn't exist with the lower points.
My deepest, most fervent hope is that all these companies get held strictly accountable when their AI gives wrong information and just get class -actioned into oblivion
The generative AI discourse is sincerely insane, it's exactly as if the entire food sector were scrambling to see who could add the most poison to their products. THESE FUCKING THINGS GENERATE FAKE INFORMATION, THAT'S WHAT THEY DO, YOU'RE TRYING TO REPLACE REAL INFORMATION WITH FAKE INFORMATION.
Man costume departments must fucking love it when their mandate includes powerful women characters. I know fuck all about fashion but it sure feels like they enjoyed themselves with The Gentlemen. Must at least be a hell of a lot more exciting than suit-of-the-weej
Eight times in ten it leads me from the naive solution to the one that fits my use case perfectly, one in ten it leads me to the realization that I've got a broken assumption, and the final one in ten usually ends at a maintainer agreeing that it's kludgey but that's what we've got right now
I think the single most useful strategy I've learned for software development is paying attention to that little voice in my head that's telling me that whatever I'm doing feels kludgey and there's probably a better way.
On the flip side I think if I ever pronounced it like that around any of my gay friends they'd immediately sever all contact
By our powers combined we could have one (1) functional active workstation
it's pretty fucking rude. I wanna get one of those under desk treadmills but then I will be one of those people that has an under desk treadmill because they can't drag their ass off the computer and I'm not sure I'm ready for that yet
Seeing the insane success of stuff like online sports betting, crypto, etc makes me wonder how tightly correlated normalized-but-scammy get rich quick schemes are with shitty economic conditions.
Wouldn't it be more correct to call it the current ref? It doesn't always point at a branch name (e.g. detached head). Or was that more complexity than you wanted to add in this comic?
Saw a bohemian waxwing on the way home from drop-off, today has peaked #birds
