bbcrussian.substack.comDollarisation was not a totally crazy idea but Milei hasn't done that. Instead he's devalued the currency and increased inflation even more.
Bruenig wants to go back to the Middle Ages, with rulers ordained by God and His Church. But no "harsh punishment" somehow
Trump is afraid of driving his golf cart into a water hazard
The paradox of evangelicalism is they have authoritarian personalities, but the church governance structures are in theory democratic. And anyone can interpret the Bible.
The ex fundies convert in search of a hierarch to settle their endless Bible quoting arguments, but they want those arguments settled in their favor.
Nah, Congress outlawed tall buildings in 1910. No reference to underlying soil or rock.
The Iron Curtain separated people from the rest of the world. And economic development is a factor promoting social and cultural progress, as shown by the World Values Survey.
More information is coming out - I should add that 200 number is reported but not certain
At least 200 killed; it seems likely that the number of guards needed would be a lot smaller.
That one really was the conventional wisdom, majority opinion at least in the establishment.
Big if true. Saudi Arabia remains the swing producer and Biden is definitely trying hard to keep them happy, and pumping oil, during the pre election period.
Sometimes there's also an implied "man in the arena" argument. "I am not going to criticize the tactics of the resistance" without giving any reasons they are correct, but trying to create a principle that the "resistance" should not be criticized by faraway people.
That's only convincing to someone who already agrees with the demands. If enough people already agreed, civil disobedience would be unnecessary.
Seems like an extremely mild punishment that only the anti bedtime caucus could possibly care about
The effect of "banning" a student organization is usually that they can't draw on university resources that are available to recognized student organizations.
Giving in is not a proportional response, it's incentivizing rule breaking. That kind of response makes me wonder if all rule enforcement is always considered illegitimate and disproportionate.
There are no exceptions, and Trump was supposed to deal with any crises that arose, not just the ones he caused himself.
Doesn't matter. Nobody would accept that kind of excuse for a Democrat - Democratic presidents are considered responsible for whatever happens during their full term of office, and Trump should be too.
It's probably the reason Biden is polling a lot better than Justin Trudeau or other incumbent world leaders.
Along with inflation being lower in the USA than some other places.
Less IMO. There are a lot of armed and potentially violent far rightists, and the criminal justice system cuts them a lot more slack.
The "it's right to rebel" slogan is Maoist BTW, often used by the Revolutionary Communist Party (the one in the US)
That depends on whether civil disobedience is breaking an unjust, relevant law. A lot of civil disobedience is just breaking ordinary laws against trespassing and so on, to show commitment and determination.
"We are murderous, but on the other hand, we are weak" is not really an other hand or balancing factor.
Usually weakness is a deterring factor that keeps people from starting wars.
If somebody starts a war despite being at a huge disadvantage they are exceptionally bloodthirsty war hawks.
OK. I found an article about this that says that, and in response protestors quoted are trying to deflect and vague it up, often a sign of deception

Depending on how it's used or who you ask, it's a target, a symbol of resistance, a piece of history or propaganda. And the controversial symbol has been seen at pro-Palestinian university encampments...
au.news.yahoo.comFor whatever reason, it's now used by pro Hamas people. Maybe because Hamas is demanding prisoner releases? But the correlation with Hamas is pretty strong.
And by Turkey I mean specifically president Erdogan and his party.
Hamas were anti-Assad but had to recant because Iran stopped supplying weapons
Ideologically they're closest to Turkey and Qatar
Cannon has ruled on some procedural motions. Some of those rulings are legally strange and very pro Trump. But so far nothing that has led to any action against her.
Medieval rulers and cities did sometimes try to isolate new arrivals who might be carrying plague
On this case, her task is to avoid being overruled or removed by a higher court. Is she competent enough to do that?
Or she could quietly tell the MTA board to ignore her
Then she can blame them if anyone is still mad about congestion pricing
Yes, Steven Miller deliberately messed up the visa processing
Absolute immunity, going by this court's failure to rule
Fun article. Bears have short faces, maybe that also helps make them look neotenous and cute?
I think the short jaw may be related to higher bite force.
There's a big pandemic impact on the legal residency graph. Maybe more applications were denied but this did not lead to much drop in applications?
The pandemic restrictions did lead to a slight reduction. I thought it would be more.
Brits usually claim everything was invented in Britain. Sometimes the "inventor" was whoever imported an idea or technology into Britain
Yeah, primary them
As for why: 1. low turnout elections (by design)
2. In a 1-party state, ambitious pols join the one party regardless of their ideology, if any. Cuomo and Hochul might be Rs in a swing state.
They should consider that Trump won't respect their impunity if he wants something from them
