But if I call everyone to my right a neoliberal then I can pretend they are all the same and I don’t have to think about how purity tests are actually not great
But if I call everyone to the right of me neoliberal then I don’t have to grapple with the reality of how political change actually requires making compromises
I had a self-described lifelong liberal who works as a software engineer explain the Times’ framing is more useful - and who aside from economists finds any use in marginal month-to-month changes in unemployment rates. (Even economists probably can’t do anything with that singular datapoint).
Well my 20lb dog has mercilessly executed 2 squirrels, 3 bunnies and a field mouse, but this delicate creature has a clean record…
I was 16 and it was so obvious the Republicans were bad faith hypocrites and I couldn’t understand why people took them seriously
Apparently when I was about 2 I drank sour milk, got sick, and rejected milk forever after. I won’t even put it on cereal. Half/half in coffee is fine. I was an adult before I even tasted chocolate milk.
My mom was 4’10” by the end of her life and she spent a lot of time on the sewing machine
I’m 5’1” - I get petite, sometimes a midi works, or I’ve paid for alterations - sometimes more than I spent on the dress
Same but flowy maxi dresses. But now I’m working on radical body acceptance and buying clothes with shape and just plowing ahead. I’m even tucking shirts into jeans!
My brother dated a woman for a few years who attended church that rejected Vatican 2. By the time he learned what that meant he was already in love and love trumps being blamed for executing Jesus. (They ultimately broke up and his wife just converted to Judaism so all’s well that ends well!)
I’m upset that visible Jewish institutions don’t elevate this issue. The community as a whole (particularly older than 40 - ie people running these orgs) doesn’t seem to see the danger *to Jews* in allowing the right to perpetuate their disingenuous campaign.
I thought you meant it burns out the consumers and that’s true too - at least for me.
Does internal antisemitism count? Like the accusation of being kapo. Or “those ones” are too religious. Or “those ones” are self-loathing. Any of the gatekeeping - particularly of converts.
That’s it. Next time someone calls me a cunt I’m putting up a confederate flag
Not just not prosecuted but completely welcomed in almost any context
The fact that’s he’s boring and mainstream makes him the perfect avatar for doing a radical
Republicans have taught us if you just all say the same thing over and over people will stop being surprised. We can do that too but with something good! I’m not asking for AOC - pick one fucking thing to be “radical” about!!! Bah!
I announce: I’m done hanging out and hate saying goodbye
(Going around a room saying goodbye to everyone triggers anxiety)
I want Biden to do *one thing* where he isn’t trying to toe some centrist line but actually proposes a structural solution to beating back Republican power hoarding - it doesn’t have to be this but something please!
OTOH most people lived through the whole “let’s normalize homosexuality” saga so maybe they shouldn’t be so fucking gullible
lol I just remembered- those signs were posted by the “Women’s Issues Club” because we didn’t even have any official queer groups then- 1994. I think a year or 2 later they did.
We had an assembly with a first amendment expert and I asked whether it violates the 1A if a public school Asst principal tears down signs hung up in accordance to school rules? Ours had just taken down a bunch of signs celebrating Nat’l coming out day. 10 years later we had gay marriage!
I assume it’s been common knowledge - why report on it now? Maybe to quiet the criticism about being too quiet on Republican attacks on democracy?
The Ivy League has turned out most of the elected monsters and judges that are destroying democracy
I will die on this hill:

Both “From the River to the Sea Palestine Will Be Free” and “Zionism” can be used as metaphors and are not intrinsically mutually exclusive to Palestinian liberation or a safe haven for Jewish people.
I have to confess that I have used that swastika logic - and I get it. If you’re Palestinian and Zionists are doing genocide, then who cares that some people mean it other ways? But also not everyone is a Palestinian and it would be nice if those people could take the time to learn a bit about Jews.
Like if they leave behind their DNA at the crime scene it can be traced back to them like with the Golden State killer
I always go to bat for “from the river to the sea” - but that rings hollow with American Jews who feel that “Zionism” can also be interpreted different ways.
I’m never gonna pick a fight about it and my position on Israel has nothing to do with what other people think “Zionism” means but it would be nice if white Americans could take the note from Jews without accusing us of defending genocide.
Further - I can both be a fervent supporter of Palestinian liberation and still explain that “Zionism” has a lot of meanings and that Jews describing themselves as Zionist aren’t intrinsically the enemy. Nonjews who aren’t personally impacted by Israel’s genocide can learn some nuance.
When my MIL sent hers in I was a little mad it precluded my kids from getting away with certain crimes
Fetishization of the “natural” - like Hitler was a vegetarian
They hate them so much because it reminds them they have a choice and they choose bigotry
