Bearded iris and daffodils have been mostly immune. I have discovered dug up iris, but was thinking it was done by raccoons.
I had put it out for the butterflies and bees, and hummingbirds. Very aggravating.

I've had lantana before and the deer didn't bother it. I put these lovely plants in about 4 days ago, and look at what I woke up to.
Brown thrashers are kind of plain looking, but they have a beautiful melodious song.

My dad grew up in this area, I always heard this street name when he would tell about it. He was born in 1916 and lived there through the depression and prohibition. What a time and place!
I had a Phoebe check this spot out several times, it is facing in towards our porch. The box makes it easier for them.

All my cats have been gray tabbies. They have such nice and mellow personalities.
My hummingbird feeder is up a long set of stairs up to the deck. Thank goodness he hasn't figured that out! the bears will tilt the feeders and drink the syrup,
I feel like we moved into their neighborhood. We are careful about not feeding them, I have to pull my bird feeders inside every night when I have them out. What's funny is I got trail cameras to put out in the woods, hoping to see them, but now I just place the cameras on my porch.
This is a shot my husband took a few weeks back. This guy (or gal) has become a frequent visitor...thank goodness we have a sturdy bear-proof trash can!
He is a teenager, I think, seems to be about 3 feet tall at the shoulder.

I just saw a Carolina wren is nesting in a bird box on my deck. I think babies are a ways off. So sweet!
