Back in Kentucky after many years away. I love to read and you can find me on Litsy as @decalino. I mostly post about my dogs, my cat, the creek in my backyard, flowers and books. All photos are my own, unfiltered, unless otherwise noted. #post.news

The pink yarrow I bought at a plant sale last weekend is starting to show its true colors, while the first purple coneflower has bloomed and it is white! Meanwhile, the milkweed is one step closer to blooming & this cute little globe candytuft has popped up in the side yard #FlowerReport #Garden 💙🌱
This is one of my favorite books of all time. Great review! ❤️🌳🌲

The catalpa tree at the park is in full bloom. I don't think I ever noticed how beautiful its flowers are before. #FridayFlowers
Really enjoyed cat book club today! There were so many adorable kittens and cats at the humane society.

Glad you enjoyed it! It is definitely bunny season here. I try to make a lot of noise before letting the dogs out to give them time to get past the fence

I read this wild and crazy book for cat book club, meeting tomorrow at the humane society cat habitat. It involves a brutal video-game style battle for the fate of Earth, an unlikely barefoot hero named Carl, and Princess Donut, a charismatic talking cat. Zero approves. #booksky #WhiskersWednesday
Okay, that is funny. Now that you've said it, I totally see it!
It may partly be the perspective, but it is a big, beautiful tree!
Thank you for posting this--I was not familiar with Dame's rocket. I'll keep an eye out from now on when I'm out yanking up garlic mustard!
I love the cypress trees at the park. Here's a photo I took last week for #TallTreeTuesday

These zinnias are the latest addition to the garden--I saw them while I was out and about yesterday, and they were so cheerful I couldn't resist! They are now brightening up the place along with this sunny little petunia.

Many gardeners work hard to maintain clean, tidy environments ... which is the exact opposite of what wildlife wants, says ecological horticulturist Rebecca McMackin. She shows the beauty of letting your garden run wild, surveying the success she's had increasing biodiversity even in the middle of New York City — and offers tips for cultivating a garden that can be home to birds, bees, butterflies and more. youtu.beI hope so too! That's interesting about the PNW. I was living in Thailand when it came out--no idea how I stumbled upon it.
Sat out on the patio to read a book that arrived in the mail today, watched the birds visit the bird feeder in between chapters
Thanks, this reminded me that I need to clip off some peonies and put them in a vase!
That's a good idea. Somehow I can't ever bring myself to re-read--even books I loved. Hopefully it will all come back to me!
A new allium bloomed, the yarrow is yellow, and the milkweed and Joe Pye are gearing up for summer.

It's thunderstorming now, but it was beautiful when Iris and I took our walk today.

This is not the tallest tree but one of the prettiest at the park at the moment. A red buckeye, named for its spikes of red flowers.
