Woah. Though not utterly surprising
UNC Chapel Hill bureaucrats secretly record professors' classes, without notice or consent, "using the existing Panopto camera in the classroom" to investigate "reports concerning class content and conduct"
A business school professor was startled to learn that the university had recorded his classes as part of a ‘review’ he didn’t know about. The university says it has no formal policy on filming classe...

From the text: German author Kurt Tucholsky quipped, that “the Danish language is not suitable for speaking … everything sounds like a single word.”
Researchers at Aarhus University found that due to the abundance of vowels in the Danish language, children learn Danish at a slower pace than Norwegian, which is similar but more clearly pronounced. Danish kids know 30% fewer words at the age of 15 months and take longer to learn the past tense.
Recent research on Danish shows that not only is it hard for Danish children to learn their mother tongue, but adult Danes use their native language differently than speakers of other languages.

I would venture that some cops are quite happy that they finally have an opportunity to knock some of these 'liberal academic elites' around a bit.
the thing for me is professors saying “I’m a professor” as cops fuck them up, as though they thought, until then, and even in that moment still somewhat do, that it makes a difference
How the hell does this fire, that so much reminds of the Notre Dame fire, happen exactly five years and one day later

Decided to lease our ev for the exact same reason. And the leasing deals are quite good (in EU, and same in IS from what I can tell)
What’s the difference between truth social and Twitter? Besides the legacy users still on X?
Today in "Twitter is over" news: A PR person for Lucid, one of Tesla's most direct competitors, just had a "platform manipulator" label put on his X.com account for (get this) refuting a fake internal email from Lucid's CEO that Musk fans and stock pumpers were circulating.
Nice! I always draw imaginary pipes on the board when explaining the pipes and group_by() and summarize. Now I don’t have to anymore. Thank you :)

So I learn from the interwebs that the bridge collision and subsequent collapse in Baltimore was really just a successful cyberattack by a bunch of overeager DEI consultants
Thank you! I think it was "targets", but I'll look into the makefile as well.
Awesome, thanks! Yes, I think it was "targets". But I'll look into Make as well.
Though in my search for said r-package I came across the freeze option in #quarto. Similar functionality for large quarto documents, also very neat:

someone (maybe @vincentab.bsky.social or @andrew.heiss.phd) at some point tweeted (or skeeted) about an r-package for project management that automatically only sources the specific r-files that changed or where the data basis changed. I can not seem to find it. Does anyone remember/know? Thx!
Ah, yeah. Definitely a shocker.
I think, that's when they don't have your tax card/info, they have to apply a 55% rate. I think your regular tax rate should be applied in the end, so I think you should get the difference back at the end of the year -- though might be worth calling, just to be safe.
If only he had offered spells against procrastination, I would have replied
once the Supreme Court decides Presidents have complete immunity, the Biden purges will start 🙃
Two problems with the "if Joe Biden is elected, terrible things would happen" is that:
a) unlike Trump, Biden is not campaigning on using state power to take out his political enemies
b) Biden is President, now, and is not doing this
Just depressing
