bright lights and jangly guitars. hello. he/they
life is better for me when I'm making something. the world is better when folks are encouraged to make and create things.
there's been a couple of times in my life when I stopped making art because someone who thought was an authority offered some offhand critique on my work that crushed me and stopped me from creating.
a rando on threads who gives pithy emoji critiques offers none of that. in this case it is centered on the person giving the critique. instead of helping others become better, it is instead a platform for them to show their awesome authority.
critique is only useful if it is an attempt to help the other person grow and encourages them to continue to create.
a few additional thoughts: none of this is to say that I'm against critique. healthy, honest, and respectful critique that's given in good faith is helpful if its done in a safe and caring environment.

waiting for the trump verdict reminds me of a time when twitter was a useful source for breaking news
imagine being delusional enough to have the confidence to judge stranger’s photos online. and then imagine those folks who are rushing forward for some rando’s approval. I generally don’t have strong feelings about social media, but that just makes me very sad.
there’s this guy on meta’s threads who will hold these mini contests where he will judge your photos using a metric built almost entirely of emoji. that site has some very good photos and photographers, but it’s a weird and pretentious vibe.
Good call. Right now I’m going back and forth between a epic fantasy novel and How to Live When a Loved One Dies: Healing Meditations for Grief and Loss by Thich Nhat Hanh/Plum Village

compared to that, long zoom meetings, data entry, and staff supervision is easy
making the weekly tv sports schedule is probably one of the most time consuming and difficult tasks of the week lol
the slight detour is drop off a hamburger and a local sports tv schedule to a program participant who doesn’t live to far away
still there, but on the bright side, with the exception of a slight detour after work, I’m almost done
I’ve been using profanities for so long that using alternative cuss words seem more dang shocking to me at this point
wait, what! it’s cancelled! it’s one of my favorite shows! dang, this really stinks
I subscribed to Paramount+ just so I could stream Star Trek: Lower Decks & be angry about its cancellation! You can too! Apparently tomorrow (May 25th) is the official day to do it, but you should stream Lower Decks now anyway! Because it's awesome!
