Good lord. The stabber died just before he was going to testify against Whitey Bulger. Boston is *such* a small town.

Stephen Rakes, who was found dead in Lincoln on July 17, was buried on Thursday in South Boston. He owned a liquor store that he said was taken from him in…
www.wgbh.orgI never did. Mostly trying to prep myself for a hung jury or acquittal
I knew the stabee a little. He became a city official in the 80s. Good guy.
Jury excused for the day. Everyone stand down.
The Trump jury just asked to rehear the judges instructions. Didn't he spend an hour on instructions?

(An old colleague took that. He won the Pulitzer for it. He also won the photo Pulitzer the year before. I think he remains the only two time consecutive winner.) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanley...
The commas are always a giveaway. This one obviously thinks that if he puts enough phrases in ALL CAPS it will look crazy enough to be Trump but we are not fooled.
Post of the day
The idea that Alito isn't willing to tell a woman what to do is a bit of a howler
"There were no additional steps that I could have taken to have the flag taken down more promptly."
Jesus Christ Sam.
Also he says their vacation home was bought by her inheritance so she can fly whatever flag she wants there.
Alito says he asked his wife to take down the upside down flag but she refused "for several days."
"My wife and I own our Virginia home jointly. She therefore has the legal right to use the property as she sees fit."
Alito tells Congress he will NOT recuse from the Trump immunity case. He defends his wife's use of the two controversial flags, saying they had no connection to "Stop the Steal" or any other partisan movement.

All they could get was a bunch of sycophant politicians there entirely to soothe his ego.
It occurs to me that I am not worried about riots if Trump is convicted. That's good, right? Imagine if angry loud hordes of Trump supporters had massed outside the courthouse every day.
Are we reading the same ones? They all seem rapturous. Or is that what you meant?
My dentist keeps trying to give me $3k fluoride treatments to save a rotting back tooth. I'm going to tell him I'll wait for the aliens to give us the regrowth drug.
Is there a word yet for a perfect juxtaposition of comment and screen name?
WSJ: Trump and Musk have discussed "ways to give Musk formal input and influence over policies related to border security and the economy" should Trump return to power.

I want a row of teeth across my forehead like Vyv in the Young Ones. Then no one would ever bother me.
Interesting dental news, she typed for the first time ever.

The world's first human trial of a drug that can regenerate teeth will begin in a few months, less than a year on from news of its success in animals. This paves the way for the medicine to be commerc...
newatlas.comHe spat "keep getting your 3% every four years" into the chorus of boos and it made my week.
He was wonderful in Justified, wise and kind. Turns out he's a good actor!
Poor Scott Baio couldn't even get a part on the Maga Reagan movie.
The cast of the new Reagan movie is something else.
Not sure what's my favorite, but casting Robert Davi as Leonid Brezhnev is certainly a choice. I bet he plays him as a Fedora Guy.
It's beautiful. (See previous re second to last syllable.) And Lungotevere just means along the Tiber. It's the road that goes along the river.
Also very very few silent letters or other tricksy bits.
Subtweets are annoying when I don't know who you're talking about.
It's pretty much always the second to last syllable. Another way it's easier.
Yeah it's a much easier language - straightforward, fewer words I think. I love how you only need to know a base word and can then apply all the suffixes to make it bigger or smaller or more or less important.
I speak French and Italian and they mix up terribly. But knowing one helps dramatically in learning the second.
No. A restaurant restores you and a restaurateur is one who restores you.
Genuine q: do you think she's screwing with prosecutors when she does stuff like this or is maybe...kind of dumb?
Um.....yes? I tend to add a G, actually.
Wait til you find out there's no N in restaurateur.
I knew she wasn't lighting up the world with her incandescent legal genius, but this new story on Cannon makes her sound actually dim-witted.
There are no words for this. Judge Cannon doesn’t know the most basic rule governing criminal conspiracies.

Genius. If I had a little more gumption, I'd make big blue check stickers and slap them on any Teslas I came across.
