Little excited on line 3.
Thanks to the wonderful people at the RAF Fighter Control Association and the evils of FB I’m reminded that it’s the anniversary today of the first 15 officers to start work as Filter Officers on 10th June 1940.

That’s going to cause a riot.
www.espncricinfo.com/story/pakist...
Seems like it’s not just the #BBCCricket team falling for the organisers’ shtick that the #T20WorldCup is in ‘New York City’ when it plainly isn’t. Thankfully Pakistan are being sensible and relocating to Long Island. To avoid all doubt its NEW YORK STATE!
They were originally booked at a hotel 90 minutes from the cricket ground in New York

A right-wing Spanish journalist doesn’t understand why Spain wasn’t invited to the D-Day commemorations. Twitter has been advising him why… 🙈
Agreed. I made some suggestions over on Twitter, this list was a bit strange and I could think of several better European war movies to include.
collider.com/european-war...
Well, everyone’s entitled to their opinion but I think this list is flawed. Some excellent European war movies don’t even rate a mention!
Europe was the stage for many of the deadliest conflicts in world history, and masterpieces like Das Boot to The Battle of Algiers bring them to life.

Anybody in my Blue Sky sphere seen the movie ‘Mothers’ Instinct’? I watched it last night and really enjoyed it, plus they use the apostrophe perfectly in the title.
Two great female leads, though admittedly the story might be a bit tropey. It’s a remake of Belgian film ‘Duelles’.

It's important to note there are probably genuine criticisms amid the review bombing, drowned out by the campaign. Some critics have called out pacing & dialogue problems, & those could well pose a problem to members of the audience as well, resulting in -ve reviews

I’ve mentioned a few times over on Twitter that the story of Witold Pilecki deserves a movie and here is a movie. I’ll let you all know what I think!
The heroic story of Captain Witold Pilecki, a WWII soldier who exposed the atrocities committed at Auschwitz, comes alive in this sweeping biopic.

In cinemas July 19. The feature directorial debut of Josh Margolin, THELMA is a poignant action-comedy that gives veteran Oscar® nominee June Squibb (NEBRASKA) her first leading role and features the final performance of trailblazing actor Richard Roundtree (SHAFT). Squibb, who did most of her own stunts in the film, plays Thelma Post, a feisty 93-year-old grandmother who gets conned by a phone scammer pretending to be her grandson (The White Lotus’ Fred Hechinger) and sets out on a treacherous quest across Los Angeles, accompanied by an aging friend (Roundtree) and his motorized scooter, to reclaim what was taken from her. Parker Posey, Clark Gregg, Nicole Byer, and Malcolm McDowell also star. Inspired by a real-life experience of Margolin’s own grandmother, THELMA puts a clever spin on movies like MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, shining the spotlight on an elderly grandmother as an unlikely action hero. With infectious humor, Margolin employs the familiar tropes of the action genre in hilarious, age-appropriate ways to tackle aging with agency. In the first leading film role of her 70-year career, Squibb portrays the strong-willed Thelma with grit and determination, demonstrating that she is more than capable of taking care of business – despite what her daughter Gail (Posey), son-in-law Alan (Gregg), or grandson Danny might believe. Starring June Squibb, Fred Hechinger, Richard Roundtree, Parker Posey, Clark Gregg, Nicole Byer, Malcolm McDowell Directed by Josh Margolin

#NoSpoilers but I’d rate the combined episodes of #TheAcolyte as 7/10 (and it’s really one single episode).
I also learned that the perfectly good word ‘Detention’ isn’t used in the USA they instead use ‘Detainment’. And we apparently needed exposition for something we’d learned 60 seconds before.
