The other day I bumped my head on the gabled attic ceiling. It must have been harder than I realized, because a while later I went to a med school graduation party and the new doctor asked me if I was ok because I had blood all over my shirt.

PERSON, CLARIFIED
I became a person
when I loved another person
more than my own person.
Hopefully not too late.
I guess personhood is there
under the hood somewhere.

There's clarity. And then there's inescapability—like a roller coaster.
But obscurity is not a good answer.
Personhood might be. A person, clarified, might be the best universal.
What is a book of poetry. Why would anyone want to read one. Why did I want to write one. I have wasted my life.
