non-binary they/them
artist/writer/comics
mentally and chronically ill and very bothered about it usually
now I don't even know if cis people or culture can get better
we may just forever remain the alternative
I was just talking about projection sooooo trans and cis people really figure into that cuz projection plays a huge part in transphobia
THAT'S ALL vOv PRETTY MILD
literally me a trans non-binary mess admitting there's a middle ground for people who may not claim transness usually but the middleground doesn't exist in cis spaces so obviously they claim transness
just cis people not being tolerant of GNC people???
like it's not very hateful at all
how dare I say cisgender culture is awful because it obviously fucking is and it can be MADE BETTER, LMFAO
"And that might just happen because being cisgender truly is so confining and awful
so you're definitely making more gender neutral people claim less cishet normativity because that shit sucks it sucks if you are cishet it especially sucks if you're not a very gendered person"
I think we know why
I'm not even talking detransitioners I'm talking people who fucking figured that shit out way before they got to medicalization
"and they end up calling it an ideology because people who explore their gender end up with a more open philosophy
but ya know people who think they're trans but are cis with gender dysphoria fucking exist ???? like there ARE some autistic people that go thru this--"
which is the bad part
another day, another false alarm by Xitter's fucking weird as hell hateful post algorithm flagging me
for talking about cis gender people, probably
it's very unclear
Is Garfield hard to pronounce in a Finnish accent? That sometimes plays into localization. Can't imagine there being another reason besides that.
I really need to hear the portrait artist's pitch and explanation for this 😭
maybe I could write a short story exploring just a guy going to a hot guy to learn to fight 😭get that idea out real quick, see what I could do with that
cuz it's horrifying to me that you'd teach someone to not defend themselves
so that's what the story turned into: what kinda people would do that
among other ideas that came about organically rather than very calculatedly
I think if I were writing a different story then I would've just started here but I'm writing a different story than "sheltered guy learns to fight from hot guy"
tho it would've been a good way to start
it's more complicated cuz I'm a freak, I need horror elements basically
that's probably why I found reyson so compelling and found it so unfair that he was denied anyway of defending himself because of some idea of purity
so the idea of giving a character like that the actual opportunity--obviously big guy is gonna help him with this
this character is limited let's say by special religious commandment to be a certain way--submissive mainly but it includes not defending himself
and his main motivation is he really wants to learn to fight and defend himself which was Reyson's goal and ya know what I just--the transmasc of it all
basically it wasn't just a translation to the real world it was the way in which I chose to translate them
so the stuff that stuck is very much twisted and turned upside down
like Reyson is this angel-heron who's Pure and can't even learn to fight, he fucking hates that and I hate that for him
actually it would be less forbidden in a Fire Emblem world for them to fuck
I actually made that way worse for myself with world and plot building 😭at least one of them fears the punishment of death which is just logical unfortunately
and the other guy is technically based on Reyson but it's definitely more inspiration than "based on"
I don't even know if the chemistry he has with the main character is the same as what I had between Reyson and Tibarn
I just took the opportunity to make it less weird but still forbidden
things I changed are generally that I'm not constantly referencing Tibarn while I'm drawing but he's in mind--mainly in the face and physique
otherwise he has different hair, vibes, personality--he is not a fantasy creature, particularly
their faces are probably different at this point
but not that many people played Fire Emblem 9 and 10
cuz he's based on the hot hawk guy (king, actually) basically
the insanely hot large hot guy that got thrust into the background, that one
I made sure his name was a bit of a tell cuz I don't wanna hide it
I could do a PWP but I wanted more and I kept making more shit up, cuz both characters were rather under-developed
also the canon did stupid shit
so a lot of it is adjusting--it's not much like that fanfiction anymore & he's his own character to me now
still. his origin his obvious if you know
my main character is so handsome and I would be proud if he weren't heavily drawn from a particular pre-existing character
to be fair, that character is not the main character in his original franchise--he was a background guy
writing fanfiction of him with his ship was kinda boned
last two I'm proud of for actually capturing a sense of space and the first two are just good faces ig
did mostly further sketching on planned pages today--didn't have the energy to ink I guess
best picks from today for me
as in, if you're making Kevin the main character--definitely explain to us why he stuck with wrestling and has kids in wrestling and how he approached it differently than his dad, like letting his kids retire early for example
that's a lot more powerful than him just surviving!
so to focus on him and his mourning and grieving because we need an audience surrogate--the impulse is understandable, the execution here leaves much to be desired
if anything, I understand less about him
I don't know why he continues to wrestle and have children wrestle
or how he does it
like it ends up Kevin did anything right as opposed to just getting lucky and maybe having a good wife??? we can't be certain cuz we don't know as much about the wives of the other brothers, maybe Kev's wife just had the tenacity or resilience to whatever scared them away
I honestly think if I were Kevin I would prefer a movie that was more like a bunch of vignettes of his brothers' experiences than focus on the guy who didn't die
like for me I'd rather see my brothers honored than see myself valorized for uhhh surviving, that sucks if it were me!
like no, definitely put Chris in there--not just for the accuracy but for the focus of the movie to stay on the tragedy of all of this
focus on the family dynamics and drama, do not get caught up with wives and girlfriends much
go into wrestling from their perspective
don't center Kevin
and yeah I think actually making it a heavy drama works a lot better because that respects the story it's based on which is a complete fucking tragedy
to shirk away from things that make it uncomfortable, sad, depressing, anything dynamic is just such a weird and terrible reflex to have as a writer
I just find it fascinating that this is all due to the fact that the guy writing the screenplay said "make it as formulaic as possible"
like yikes dude
not great to admit, very illuminating but probably the worst defense a movie could ever have
"well, it's a movie"
well, it sucks to watch
you could've had a good conclusion to that scene being how he coached them and convinced them into wrestling
what are parallels to that football scene
let's see him pit the boys against each other which kinda sort of exists kind of
it's always sort of kind of in existence with this movie
and in idealizing it you're making it seem like dad making them go through all these stupid football moves and making them competitive with each other during a moment of play is like
what
super cool and good of him?
cuz it's easy to not see him as an asshole there if you're that asshole
what's difficult in all of this is actually positing that though these brothers are technically close, none of them could get their brother out of the same hole they were stuck in
like of course the comfort of their brothers is not enough
but you don't break it down like that
you idealize it
after Mike you shoulda been done
after David would've been better
before David died would've been the best
BUT HE DIDN'T STOP SO CHRIS AND KERRY ARE ALSO DEAD
I just wanna know how that happens outside of divine providence of a "family curse"
like I think the fuck not, more like toxic masculinity
just not digging into how a father could do this is very frustrating honestly
I'd like to have any kind of insight and the movie just doesn't think the dad was thinking very hard
meanwhile, yes he was, he was very calculated and HE DIDN'T STOP
HE DID NOT STOP
even worse this rule of three starts with "Hey David and Kev have a good thing going with pro wrestling, why don't you join them, Kerry"
like Kerry wasn't in it at all and got put into it by his dad making them a 3 person tag team
which I'm sure was like "We gotta keep it 3!!!"
"David died? Kerry and Mike, you're up with Kevin"
"Shit, now Mike died? Kerry and Chris, you're up with Kevin"
".... uhhhh Kevin I can explain"
instead we get David-Mike-Kerry
where Kerry I was literally like "how does Mike die before Kerry? insane"
that's cuz Kerry was not the last to die
that's when brittle boned youngest boy Chris is brought in, great, fantastic
and then Kerry kills himself and then finally Chris does
when you focus on the mo st important parts--that was rule of three because Kerry didn't off himself & everyone got told to go back into the ring!!!!
David dies probably from ignoring medical issues or ODing we don't know but it's accidental/from negligence/overworking himself
I might've called David Kerry earlier, my bad
Kerry goes into the ring after David and Mike does as well
then Mike offs himself--
like we don't just see them fucking unwind alone, they have a dad telling them to get back into the ring to make the family look good like an absolute mad man
he tells Chris to do that after Mike dies
WHY WOULD YOU NOT INCLUDE LIKE A RULE OF THREE THING
so you show Kevin getting injuries and having marital issues
you see all of them have sort of parallel issues and either how they deal with it or MUCH BETTER FOR THE PLOT: how their dad reinforces bad behavior instead of supporting his sons properly
like a dad would and not a bad manager
when you presented it like that and they start dropping like flies??? that's the drama, baby
you see it presented and you're like "this is not good" and then Kerry dies and everyone else starts to go
we can't just pretend that Kevin staying with his wife was the thing that saved him and gave him strength--a lot of them were dealing with divorces when they offed themselves
they all got married, they all suffered these injuries and accidents, they had marital problems, they did drugs and steroids
instead they make him the main character which like... I get it on a basic bitch level of writing, lol
"what's easier for me and the theoretical audience"
when actually it'd be good to see what Kevin says he was doing versus what his brothers were doing very actively
all of them got married.
so the fact that basically all of them were on drugs
basically all of them probably began taking steroids at some point
all of them were forced by their dad at some point to go into pro wrestling
all of them had to manage pain and were taken down by injuries
Kevin surviving isn't so clear
cuz it's not just oh they're taking drugs and getting into car accidents--
they're absolutely zooping swooping and speeding
that's why they got into car accidents. it's a masculinity culture thing of drive car fast
during either the same incident or before that, he had gotten into a car accident and had more brain injuries
like he was cooked the same way Kerry tried to deal with everything
you could've made parallels about the drugs and the car accidents
