A weekly newsletter of music discoveries and re-discoveries for discerning listeners. Occasional tangents. ListeningHabit.substack.com
That article is wild. It’s weird how underneath all the tech there’s still a layer of exploited human labor, whether it’s FB outsourced content mods, Amazon’s “no checkout” retail surveillance or these onlyfans chats…
🎧This week’s Listening Habit uncovers what might be the first unboxing video from 1996, explores the emergent flood of AI-generated “soul” music, and celebrates a few recent releases from human musicians.

🎧 Stumbled across this steamy late-night dub groove from 1975, Willie Lindo’s “Midnight”. When the tune drops about :28 in, you can feel the temperature change. This is a Jamaican Leon Haywood vibe.

But what’s tragically obvious is that this type of policy idea is nowhere near a reality and has absolutely zero chance of coming soon to a national legislature near anyone.
The tragic thing is that this is not a completely unreasonable thing to ask of a representative system of government (i.e. in a functional democracy the policies benefitting the largedt “majority” of total citizens would have the greatest likelihood of succeeding.
Completing this program once every 2-3 years like a certification would allow the billionaires a better tax rate (assuming the law also includes closure of some obv tax avoidance loopholes) than those wealthy citizens who chose not to complete the training.
There should be a law requiring all the billionaires to complete a month of time combining Undercover Boss-style minimum wage work experiences and imposed financial constraints. This might improve empathy among them. Reduce their avoidance of circumstances, consequences and taxes.
Ugh, sadly not available in my size. Would’ve proudly rocked this shirt on the regular.

The difference in mainstream media representation and first-person accounts I’ve read about various campus protests is striking. We’re watching the country lose the ability to protest against war, and we’re desensitized to police violence against citizens.

This is a brutal takedown of the staffing changes that have made Google search results worse over the past few years. The first two skeets in this thread are a direct quote. Worth a read if you haven’t seen it and like to see how the sausage is made. www.wheresyoured.at/the-men-who-...

This is the result of taking technology out of the hands of real builders and handing it to managers at a time when “management” is synonymous with “staying as far away from actual work as possible.” 1/3
🎧Went to see Challengers last night (v good at being sweaty, sexy and competitive) and this Blood Orange song from 2103 is used incredibly well in one scene. The last part of this song is so epic.
