Remember when those guys floated the idea of separate living arrangements for religious minorities by tossing rocks through windows?
Can't remember the name of the group. Not X's. Not Y's....
Rick getting upset about things that affect him, personally.
Coca-Cola alone has been noteworthy.
Its price has been rocketing up the past three years. It's really weird because Coca-Cola literally kept their price fixed for over 70 years. But it's outpacing inflation by a lot.
Lots of unions are powerful. Most are nowhere near as anti-social. Focusing on the union power is missing the mark.
Put it this way: if the union disbanded, it wouldn't change anything about what the police are doing. They'd just form a PAC to do all of the same stuff.

Data science has made predatory business practices easier to execute.
😟
Somebody needs to remind me why profit-maximizing is inherently a good thing.
it feels like you want to pick a fight and I'm not interested. Have a good evening.
The problem isn't that the police unions are powerful. The problem is that the police culture thrives on fearmongering propaganda, including wall-to-wall pro-cop TV shows filling up our primetime.
That hasn't happened yet. She's only been charged, not convicted of anything.
Asset forfeiture is, unfortunately, legal. And the legal costs of trying to recovery property often would outweigh the amount of money involved.
How much should she spend on legal fees to recover $2400?
Grr....this usage of "DMV" drives me nuts.
What was wrong with "DC area"?
Also, it's too close to DelMarVa, which is the peninsula east of the Chesapeake Bay.
The difference between the Maryland MVA (they had to use a different name!) of 20 years ago and of today is noticeable. It used to have the hours of line-waiting. Now it's all done by making appointments on line and the lobby is practically empty by comparison.
Why Dems would take Republicans at face value when the complain about campaign tactics is beyond me.
Yes, Reagan's age should have been fair game.
Yes, W's National Guard service (or lack thereof) should have been fair game.
Rs are never going to respond with "Well, you may have a point there..."
It is such a bad look for Republicans when Mike Johnson and other party leaders decide to attack the rule of law rather than accept the reality that Trump's gotten a fair trial.
The disillusionment of Republicans may not be captured by pollsters, but it's happening.
"It's the economy, stupid" came into existence because George HW Bush seemingly didn't care about the economy.
I'm far from convinced that it isn't the economy. Certainly as the main driver of votes. Not the only one, obv.
Indifference to the economy is a good way to lose elections.
Obama fell over himself trying to respect filibuster. It was a real waste of time. Instead of telling the 5 most conservative Senators they had to play ball with the vast majority of the caucus, he let Baucus, Lieberman, et al. hold legislation hostage.
Obama wasn't ready for the job. Biden is.
Weird that you would argue that a 51-vote caucus that includes Manchin and Sinema would somehow be more liberal than a 59-60 vote caucus.
As for Lieberman, that was an own goal by the Dem establishment, who didn't support the party nominee, Ned Lamont, in 2006.
Biden is really more liberal than Obama. He's had 51 Senators to deal with while Obama had 59-60.
Obama listened to bad advice from Larry Summers and that led to a politically disastrous slow economic recovery.
Biden saw that and learned.. The Biden recovery plan was far more progressive.
Remember the faux outrage about Biden not debating Trump enough?
Biden isn't as sharp as he used to be, but Trump is bonkers.
I'd disagree with the use of the present tense here. The curves switched position over a year ago.
Can we please lose Andrew Cuomo already?
I know _he_ thinks he's smart. But he was born on third base and thrown out trying to steal home.
“The issue that we are raising is not whether Trump is mentally ill,” Gilligan writes in his chapter. “It is whether he is dangerous.”
Seems like a fit question for somebody desiring a position of immense power.
Alternative headline:
Supporter of convicted felon explains his plan to destroy our system of government.
By definition, an abuse of power is something an official is able to do, but isn't really supposed to do.
Seems like she has the power to disrupt this program. Otherwise, why is this a news story?
I'd rather find the perfect butterfly to step on, to cascade a long series of benevolent events.
But first, I'd have to go to the future to get my hands to better computing power to figure out which butterfly should be the target.
Alternative idea: just kill Hitler and give all that advice to somebody else.
I'm only interested in a random sampling of family farmers who use mules to pull plows.
Gonna use a laser scalpel to cut the Gordian Knot.
There are two ways to change the EC:
a) Constitutional Amendment
b) Constitutional Convention
I can tell you with high certainty that (a) isn't going to happen.
Do you think all we need to do is ask low-population states to cede the power they don't deserve, and they'll do it?
Why should cops be exempt? Because they whined a lot? Because their commutes are more important?
Exempting cops from laws on furthers their sense of entitlement.
Maybe NYC should stop letting the police union be in charge of all their policies. They seem to be getting veto power these days.
Clarence Thomas is consistently opposed to handouts to people not named "Clarence Thomas".
You are all over the place, and accusing me of "pretending" something not remotely to anything I said in this thread.
Muting.
Damn. Never thought we'd need Niedermeyer.
youtu.be/4uvFpqbfB4c?...
More generally, Dems cannot be bothered to work the media.
You're buying the administration narratives?
Seems weird to me that a lot of universities had peaceful protests and the only ones that "got out of control" were the ones where the administrators pre-emptively resorted to police state tactics.
