This is from 2020 but it's one of the few things I still like from that era. ๐๐ข๐ค
Its Shou. He's roughly based on the Genbu myth and he's a mischievous winter god who likes to fuck around with others. His true intentions & allegiances are unknown & he's so old, people have forgot his original purpose
Absolutely. Even if ur fucking DaVinci reincarnated, it doesnt matter if you dont deliver, pick up the phone or communicate.
In the end its all about meeting deadlines and happy clients.
Dont worry, usually theyre simple to spot if you use your common sense
Also, yay! i hope youll have a fun experience! :D
Idk, depends what you are aiming for. Like for commercial work idk if it makes sense cuz i dont think these people attend there.
Convention stuff is defo not my field/client base so i cant say much about that
One thing I've learnt in my profession is, that you dont have to be the best designer/illustrator as long as you meet deadlines and pick up the phone/reply to mails.
Many artists fail at this and companies/clients HATE it when you ghost or delay them.
Just be the reliable guy. It'll pay off.
Idk how it works in your area, but maybe look around whats around your area. Many agencies are used to freelancers working remote anyway.
Make businesscards and just apply. Even if they dont hire you now, they might eventually someday, cuz they might have kept your contacts.
Idk if any of this helps. There is no 100% guarantee, but being proactive and just doing a good work helps.
Also a thing I've learnt is that you dont have to be the best one for the job if you are the one who meets deadlines and picks up the phones. Not many artists do that and companies value it.
Also, when it comes to agencies, many of them will eventually try to fuck u over in some ways, so try to negotiate and dont sell yourself too short. Be confident in your skills and dont dump your own price or they will take advantage of it.

I get my best projects from the connections I made during the smaller jobs.
For a while I was freelancing for agencies too, to keep projects incoming/have a steady flow of projects and income. Not everything is fun, but if you do your job well, your business will organically grow.
That's a hard one to answer, cuz there is no clear path to it. For me, the connections I did during Uni days defo helped cuz I was super proactive there/worked there as well. Also applying to agencies or starting with a bunch of small jobs in your friend/family circle helps. word of mouth spreads.

BSKY circles, w00p!
This one is pretty interesting, cuz it "only" counts the past 93 days. (Unless I'm dumb and did it wrong, there's always that chance)
Nice! :D
Being proactive really helps โ I'd say it probably does more than lurking on socmed and waiting for companies to find u.
Wooo, I know most of the faces on it :DDD
Yeeah, the big name thing is kinda ugh too. I totally get it that they can't revenge anyone or might not do revenges at all.
It gets scummy when they have the time to put all of their oc on AF/promote their account, yet not give anything back. That screams DRAW ME FREE STUFF CUZ UR MY FOLLOWERS!
Thank you : > <3
Actually this is already my third year, that's why I'm pretty relaxed, cuz I know what to expect.
Absolutely! Its fine if you cant draw everyday, just dont be an art leech
Yikes, yeah - i dont do random characters anymore. Now i mostly check other peoples defenses to see whos legit active. Good way to find people
Aw - no stress tho!
I already updated my bio saying ill mostly focus on attacking this year cuz i cant defo revenge everyone ๐
Yeah, its not always easy to prove, especially if they claim its an oc and still sell it later. Cant do much about it then.
Yeah, I think a lot pf people are drawn in by the prospect of free art instead of drawing for others. There will always be assholes.
Gotta make the best out of it.
That sucks it made you feel that way, just cuz some people are being entitled jerks : /
I'm the same, I will defo focus on some attacks this year and trying to keep some good vibes.
Id recommend against tumblr, since it does have some AI bs too. You can opt out, but I don't trust em. It used to be good for fandom stuff tho.
Cara, so far, seems like an IG clone for artists, minus the meta bs. Still in beta tho.
THen theres Sheezyart which looks like old school DA atm (also beta)
Saaameeee โ its like, either you join or you dont.
Just leeching free art isnt cool.
Yeah, I dont understand it โ the least you can do is a "thank you".
Even if an artwork doesnt fit your personal aesthetic, its important to acknowledge that they took some of their time to draw you something. People are so entitled sometimes.
YES, that too โ I was lucky so far, but some of my friends had cases where they didnt even hear a thank you back, I guess cuz the person didnt like the style and didnt appreciate the effort.
I'm honestly not sure if it goes against the rules and its hard to prove in some case.
Like sometimes you see a big artist joining, saying they wont have time to draw, yet found the time to upload all of their ocs and want art. That also seems a bit iffy imo. Like either you join or you dont.
Yeah, same, I usually do not attack accounts that didnt deliver anything yet or have abysmal ratios (like receiving 100+ and giving less than 10).
Especially if its people who found the time to upload 328392 ocs, yet they claim they have no time to draw - but take the free art anyway.
Not cool
YES, thats the thing. No one expects you to be a freaking DaVinci, but the least you could do is draw SOMETHING back. Worse, some don't even say thank you or anything.
I kinda wish you could report such leech accounts in some way.
I actually don't know if its "open" for non artists. Like, I guess no rule explicitly states that you gotta be an artist (thatd hard to enforce/check), but the name/themes strongly imply it, since its an art TRADING game ๐ฌ
So going there as a non artist is scummy af
Yeah, thats the thing - just watch AF if you dont wanna draw.
Its not even a skill issue. Its fine if you aren't a good artist but at least TRY to give back.
But some people just try to be cute or guilt-trip you into drawing for them, when irl they just dont wanna pay an artist
Its fine : ) It sucks when you get the short end of the stick, its fine to complain.
AF isnt perfect, but it can be a lot of fun if you keep your expectations reasonable
However I do sorta "precheck" the people I attack:
I check if they are active, how their ratio is, i follow (if they follow back i guess that means they like my art), comment to see if they even respond at all
Its not a gurantee but at least so far I at least got a thank you from everyone I drew for
I guess it is a gamble to begin with. I usually go into AF with no expectations about revenging/getting art. I usually am more of an attacker than revenger to begin with (people often dont revenge me either, its fine - but I also sometimes get random attacks)
I'm mostly there to draw cool designs.
Yeah, that's smart.
I do like attacking random people, so I get to draw designs I just like, but I think I'll be even more careful this year.
Aww, that sucks D: I'm sorry to hear!
My experience was pretty positive overall so far, I admit. I'm just very careful with who I'm attacking/i make sure they are active/no leech/have their own art posted.
Overall AF is pretty fun, but you defo have to avoid a specific kind of user there.
Yeah, its always telling when they follow 582395903 people, have a memey profile and have no attacks/defenses
Because AI is only evil if it steals from me v.v
(also may I add, the act of PAYING for AI is the dumbest thing to do itself - its stolen art, for fuck's sake, just steal it at this point, its the same thing to me)
I personally think its fine to enter as long as someone actively participates in any way.
But there's people who really just want free art and deliver nothing.
... I never thought the day would come for me to add a rule #3 to my very lax ArtFight ruleset. ๐ฅฒ
I'm so mindboggled about the adopt thing, I cant ๐ฅฒ
And yeah, there's always people who like draw 1 thing and ask for their following to give em lots of free shit, but these guys are a whole new level of leech
Yeah, especially if you aren't a) and artist and b) don't even plan to draw.
Like, give the people at least some wonky doodles back to show u care.
Yeeeah, there's some who follow 58396300503 accounts, with LOL-MEME profiles, get hundreds of attacks by goodwilling people and never attack or revenge a single one.
ALSO, OMG I DIDNT EVEN CONSIDER THE ADOPT THING FGSJFKSK
I'll be that guy for a second, but is it just me or do these ArtFight account by non-artists who ask for art of just their fursonas/vtubers/etc come off as leeches who just want free art to use?

Haha, I noticed :D
Yeah, Imma just check out sheezy and cara and see what'll work for me
