As kids we used to drive out to wheat fields and gather wheat seeds which would make ‘wheat gum’ if you chewed on it. And me old hometown I just minutes ago learned won the right to go topless in Canada. Which actually makes sense -it was a pretty tolerant place, birthplace of Medicare, NDP, etc.
Great song! Saw the Dead in Eugene and Indigo Girls opened and closed their set with this perfect song for a summer day!
This Big Sur Performance is real nice too.

I think it was the ‘murmurs of earth ‘ by Carl Sagan. www.newyorker.com/tech/annals-...
Forty years ago, we sent a message to extraterrestrials—a collection of sights and sounds of life on Earth.
www.newyorker.comThere’s a good book about the story behind how the idea to send info about our civilization as part of the Voyager mission. It played at 17.5 rpm or something to fit more on it.

Jazz Butcher Conspiracy,
Touring I think the Fishcotheque album, absolutely packed and hot, guitar player (who was a roadie a few years ago) gave me a beer in front row possibly saving my life. They were quite popular in 🇨🇦from the first album with Partytime thnx to cbc
The first one, 🇨🇦smallest province (2,200 sq miles) a little bigger than MV 🙂
I heard they were making fun of one in Nantucket (&everywhere else), which reminds me of a old limerick
I see the dog and the flags (you 🇺🇸 really like flags!) but I can’t help picture a machine gun on the dogs back now thanks to those crazy robot dogs 🙁That’s neat you’re on MV I didn’t realize you were an East Coast islander too.
‘From me to you’ that’s great! Radio free Europe was a big hit 🇨🇦I see they’ve released it live in Toronto on murmur deluxe. I remember circa reckoning there was a 7-11 promo- the cup bottoms had holograph ‘buttons’ of bands and one of them was REM who were pretty underground. I.R.S. had good promo.
I only have a few stubs from over the years so date matching won’t work. #ticketstubwed
This was a transcendental experience. Little club, maybe 200 people. Was grooving front of stage on side. Scientist at the controls, Scratch was 6 feet away sending out his serious musical revolutionary message.
Happy Tuesday, the English can’t do a song like a Scotsman can.

It’s lobster Setting Day 🦞
Bad weather delayed it, they usually don’t work Sundays. They head out with full loads of traps and then pick them up a few days or something later. It’s around a 60 day season.

You have excellent taste in music ie. the same as me🤣✌️I love cover versions of songs.
That’s fantastic, love the memoirs. Just found out last night about the Egyptians greatest hits album with eight miles high on it-never heard their version before. This will be an interesting read! 😀
As it would, I think I knew it was coming out from the Handmaiden Films connection- Life of Brian , Time bandits etc.
then all through life you’d meet people who were big fans of it.
The unmistakeable art of Ralph Steadman. One of the all time great movies. During the pandemic Richard Grant would post little clips of him reciting dramatically one liners from the movie with a devilish grin and with a sheep or two in the background on his farm. It was good for morale.
Synchronicity, love it. Once I almost got to see Richie Havens in BC (great story eh?) He was only playing concerts on Sunday nights at the time for some reason, I think maybe he didn’t like rowdy crowds?(2005ish).
Great idea the ticket stub challenge! I see it was your idea. 😁 I actually confess I mistakenly replied to you instead of Moot’s 1990 Sinead o Connor show. I was looking through the posts & I like the breeders (never saw them though) & have same warfield ticket stub from a show a few weeks later.
Those were the only JGB shows I saw - the 3 show run, got a free plane ticket. Great vibe at the Warfield, glad I got the chance to see shows there.

Great shows! Surprise (pre-internet) was a new drummer Donny Baldwin who was highly energetic behind the kit.
Wow that would have been a top show for me too. Never got to see her perform unfortunately.
Grateful Dead MIT May 7,1968- Mickey Hart painted the fist on his drums to protest the Kent State massacre of students.
The Grateful Dead were smuggled past police barricades in a bread truck and performed for striking students at Columbia U. On May 3,1968. Protesting a different US genocidal war against South East Asia. Also played at MIT May 7th to protest Kent State. Free Palestine. youtu.be/E_3kAdz5AdY?...

The US allows the sale of raw milk which is illegal in 🇨🇦“survey found that 4.4 percent of adults in the US consumed raw milk more than once in previous year”
Pasteurized safe but raw milk could be an issue. Biggest risk is cow to human who has a flu virus already. arstechnica.com/science/2024...
Mammal-to-mammal transmission raises new concerns about the virus's ability to spread.

The other one cover song nobody knows is a cover is ‘angel of the morning’ covered by the Pretenders/Juice Newton etc. . Joy Landis did an early reggae cover in 68

Ahh yes I remember the Scumm engine - invented by Sir Charles Weatherbee and Nigel from that British punk band. Saw them on their American tour in Cincinnati.
That was super advanced the leap to graphics based adventures - even giving you buttons with commands on them. The earlier text based puzzle adventure games had no prompts and were quite hard. Like this ‘hitchhikers guide to the galaxy’ game- the best selling game in 1984.
