Sleep all day, arty all night, it's fun to be a creative!
Recovering comic artist and illustrator, with a love for weird horror and Forteana. Occasionally NSFW.
One of my favorite Elric of Melnibone covers. I've had the full set of books since my mid teens so yes, I've always had a type, and it's all his fault ๐
ELRIC AND THE SINKING CITY (1984)
Acrylic on Canvas - 36" X 20"
Unlike all the other Elric paintings I have done, the cover for Michael Moorcock's ELRIC AT THE END OF TIME is not an action scene. 1/3
If they're gonna retag stuff as sexually suggestive, then they should just ditch the artistic nudity one, because what's the point if their bots are going to override it?
See? Gone from something that looked like muddy humanoid splodges to something recognisable ๐ Still a lot of work to do, but this is the satisfying part, as it starts to come together.

I hate that plants are fucking my membranes every year. Especially the grasses. Bastards.
Have it on DVD along with Ghostwatch. Perfect Halloween TV in one go.
Oh my lord, I just laughed so hard! This just gets better and better with each installment โค๏ธ
Yeah, CSP has some interesting and useful features that means I don't feel like I was diddled when I paid for the perpetual license, but it's not quite good enough yet for me to replace PS with it. I should probably play around with Krita at some point too.
I've hit the same hurdle, and it really puts me off too. Updated my computer late last year so I could run BG3, so the lag shouldn't be a memory/rendering resource problem with my hardware.
When I paint, there's always this agonising point when I'm laying down the groundwork, and it looks like absolute arse, but from this stage onwards, it'll start to properly take shape.
The extra wrinkle with this is it's a candle lit environment, so pushing my colour skills with this one!
Would it help if I told you that your comics are amazing? Their anarchic black humour is just illustrated perfectly by your art style, and I might just have a little lady crush on Sota ๐คญ
Gosh, imagine what could happen if the Greens actually got the coverage in line with their actual achievements.
Voted earlier this afternoon. Our polling station was blissfully quiet, and the lady behind the desk was lovely, so probably hadn't had a chance to get fed up with the whole ID thing yet. Fortunately our need to go clubbing in London means we already had Citizen Pass IDs.
Angsty man hugs from the latest episode of High Rollers, as I continue my late night art posts, fresh off the screen.
On to painting this next.....

If only Lae'zel could give Vlaakith the finger in the game, it'd be so satisfying!
Thank you ๐ค I'm mostly better now, just got a persistent sore throat and cough that I still need to shake.
I think that's probably more a reflection of most customers requests, so they err towards that. I'm like you- I prefer to invest in better quality that will last me, and do the job better.
If anyone argues the toss about it, just remind them that they not paying per line or brushstroke; they're paying for your talent and experience.
From my experience (and others) these sort of people are usually angling for a discount by making you doubt yourself and the value of your art (or any other product they have their eye on). I normally ignore them, cos 9 times out of 10 they end up being PITA customers too.
I loved your Valefar painting, it was really striking! (I meant to say so on the original post, but forgot, sorry!)
If there's one thing I've noticed on here though, in regards to artwork, is that posting a single image in portrait orientation gets the best engagement.
In the future there is only....... asexual reproduction!
Ah, thank you, I was not always good at likenesses back then!
My inking style evolved from a flat Art Nouveau look, to a more chiaroscuro technique as I mastered brush inking.
More from the vaults!
Another piece from 2006, this was for a football/superhero themed charity zine.
Being the contrary bint that I am, I decided to be different and go with some non-Western superheros, hence this Monkey VS Shakti clash on the pitch ๐

What makes me sad is the 30 to 40% of amazing artists I follow, who just gave up after only posting for a short time. I still follow them, in the hopes they come back some day ๐ค
Whatever your gender ๐
Probably all of the above, and then some. But there is definitely a large number of people who started accounts, but gave up quickly when they didn't have engagement like they were used to on other sites.
If she tries going after the Books of Magic, or the Journal of Luke Kirby, etc, etc, I will gleefully revel in her idiocy as she reveals to the world that her precious IP is a fucking knock-off.
This post brought to you by me promising art, and then being too ill to do anything ๐
For some reason I can only find one page of the pencils I did on a Starship Troopers comic back in 2006 on my current computer, but it IS a great bit of bug on mech suit action!
All of these ended up being unpublished, but ๐ค I can find the rest, so they're seen finally.

Ahaha, you haven't been tempted to nuke it from orbit yet then?
Ugh, drama is so tiring. Glad I haven't checked in there for the past few weeks.
If that's what you are happy to share, then I say go for it. I always find it interesting to read/ see a bit 'behind the scenes', such as artists inspiration, methods, etc, etc.
While it is often interesting to learn a little about the artist behind the art, do not feel like you have to do so if you don't feel comfortable. You don't owe anyone anything.
I do the occasional non-art post, but I try and keep them mostly art-related, as that's the focus of this account.
