IIRC she said as he was nearing 100 one day he said, "I think I'm not going to eat any longer." A few weeks later he said, "I think I'm not going to drink any longer." And then a few days after that he peacefully passed.
The biology description is *exactly* what Helen Nearing described about Scott's death at 100 in "Living the Good Life". When I read it I thought of it as a more conscious thing versus an innate biological thing.
I honestly don't get it. Sometimes the water pressure in this house is like a garden hose with a kink in it and other times its like this scene from Club Paradise. If it was on a well I'd understand but with city water I'm surprised.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is a first. What they've done in other years is let stand the gerrymandered maps to be sorted out later. That way the Republican Party would get at least one legislative session with the skew.
Why we can't have nice things...We've known about paper mills and lack of sufficient reviewers being a problem for a while now. It's been getting worse and worse. That's before we start seeing the expected massive increase from ChatGPT-style word vomiter crap. "Flood of Fake Science Forces (1/2)

"Warm to Trump again..." If they were ever alienated it was behind closed doors and in anonymous comments. They rode with him for the tax/regulation cuts through the coup and only briefly paused supporting him right after. Once dust settled it was status quo again.
California way back in the day? #tesla #ElonMusk (3/3)
Insiders tell the story of the firings that have upended a network widely viewed as a signature Tesla achievement and a key driver of its EV sales.
finance.yahoo.comThe mass layoffs and downscaling of Tesla charging network team and plans is even more bizarre as more details come out. It was their one actual differentiator. They are in the position to be essentially the gas station company of EVs. These changes undermine all of that and contrary to (1/3)
Musk's tweets thy aren't reversing course on it at all. Again though, what will happen to their contractual obligations to the US government that just gave them yet another boat load of money to build out more stations? Are they going to take the money and run with it like they did to (2/3)
This is slightly different than the stories I saw earlier that said she was refusing to make any cuts. She had already cut 15-20%, hypothetically more than the across the board cuts he asked for, and that still wasn't good enough for Musk? Not surprising but just SMH.
I know it is auto-generated by the OpenGraph headers on the article, but chef's kiss on the Bond Villian about to do something evil and then cackle about it photo choice for Musk :).
...and sadly latest YouGov poll showed Cruz up by double digits. Fingers crossed Allred pulls through in the end.
Cue the "It's a trap!" meme, especially in light of recent developments post-Broadcom acquisition..."VMware giving away Workstation Pro, Fusion Pro free for personal use" #vmware #programming

www.theregister.comI, Robot short stories were pretty tough but I loved seeing how he was using it to basically do world building experiments. I really liked Caves of Steele but it definitely had its character realism issues, just not at a level that made it hard for me to enjoy.
I’m just starting my own journey through the entire series. I’m through Caves of Steel.
Another 3dfx mini-documentary, but this one put out by them at their height in 1997/1998. It's an interesting comparison. Kind of sad knowing that a few years later they will be out of business :( #RetroGaming #ComputerHistory #3dfx

youtu.beAnother tip out of the Trump playbook he's emulating I see...not shocked...
They started giving him credit for fixing the economy in December of 2016 as well. Not just Republicans, but "independents" too. It's just maddening.
I hope that gets archived in a searchable form :). I was never sure if I had an overly cynical view of Tesla versus just a skeptical one. Turns out most of my "cynical" assumptions were true based on this person's responses.

youtu.beMy first thought is that no good will come of Peloton being acquired by a private equity firm. More often than not it is a vampire operation: they suck the company dry, break it up for parts, and then pockets all the cash. Sometimes they can be productive but I can't assume that. #peloton (1/2)
I do remember taking my swim lessons as a very young kid but I don't remember what it feels like to not know how to swim. I have some adult friends who don't know how to swim and always wondered what it would feel like to learn as an adult. This video series is documenting just that. #swimming

social.wedistribute.orgNone of these people (Musk, Sacks, Dorsey, etc) are stupid. They are very smart compared to the average person. At the same time they are no where near as smart or omniscient as they think they are.
I've tracked everything I've eaten every day in an app for more than a decade now. It's astounding how many calories i can put down in a day :).
The handwriting was on the wall on this when Florida passed a bill in 2021 that essentially lets people do this with a get out of jail free card. They were picturing the BLM protests when they wrote it. www.vice.com/en/article/8...
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the law, which includes civil immunity for people who drive their cars into crowds of protesters.

With respect to Nostr, Jack Dorsey's preferred network because it is "censorship resistant". Most of the people I conversed with on the topic were right wing types who think that 4chan/8chan/Nazi Bar problems just magically go away or don't care if they were there. It made it an instant no for me.

Whenever I'd see those weird data points with my wrist-based heart rate while running I'd think to myself that it was either a sensor sampling issue or maybe some weird thing with acceleration. I never really studied it though. Turns out it's something called cadence lock. Maybe I'll go (1/2)
