Hi gang. Weekend! Nothing to do today except prep lessons for next week. How about you? Hope you all HAGD
#NowPlaying Bill Bruford - "making a song and dance"
The career retrospective compilation.
I'm even enjoying the Yes tracks.
Yes indeed. I can't really remember anyone else who has made me laugh so consistently.
Pet hate, shop assistants who harass you as soon as you enter their emporium.
Billy Connolly once had a routine about this. People who zip up to you as you as you enter and ask, "Can I help you?"
To which his response, "Ay, OK, you fuckin' look round, I'll wait here."
I feel that with most people, I think. Currently I'm pretty starved of IRL contact, so I'm genuinely thrilled when anybody comes to visit.
I suppose I ought to feel sorry for her, promoted as she has been far beyond her capabilities, but I can't bring myself to do that. I just want her gone, and the sooner the better for absolutelu everybody.
He would've been well within his rights to turf me out on my ear.
He laughed, fortunately, and immediately told the rest of the family.
Instead of which I said I hoped he would rest in peace. 😂
2/2
Hahaha. No, I don't think so. I don't have crushes anymore. I have Marmite for company and I've no interest in sharing my living and working space with anyone else.
I'll have to walk to the barber's. It's about 2 minutes' walk away, so not far, but up steps, so I can't take the chair.
Hi Claire, yes, it's a great relief. Good luck with the paperwork, hope it's not too onerous. I might try and get a haircut this afternoon - starting to feel a bit like a hippy. 🤣

Morning all. Friday's here! Only 1 lesson today so I can take it easy. What are you all up to?
Oh yes, it's just what's he up to? Normally he's in the media every 5 minutes pontificating on yet another subject about which he knows precisely nothing. And now nothing, for weeks on end? It worriee me.
#NowPlaying Rush - "Permanent Waves"
The first Rush album I ever bought, entirely on the strength of the one song, "Different Strings", which I heard on the radio.
youtu.be/OYJ_VPV1ltA...
I think I've listened to all the studio albums at least twice, but I don't have strong memories of the individual ones.
To purloin from Douglas Adams, "This must be some strange new sense of the word [amateur] that I've never previously come across".
#NowPlaying Renegade Soundwave - "In Dub"
I remember hearing "Thunder" the first single off this album before it was released. And by cracky it was good.

Indeed. Brilliant band. I really must work on hearing their later albums more.
Yes, of course. Sorry. The country's gone weird while I've been abroad. Tweren't like that in my day.
Yeah. Do I remember rightly that she got her supporters to back Sunak during the leadership race? He owes her big time. There's not much to be cheerful about.
Yes, in terms of their career it make sense to see it as a transitional album. Mind you, so was "Fly By Night". It didn't bear much relation to their debut. Which I love, btw, partially because it's so different to the rest of their stuff.
She's as thick and fucking pig ignorant as shit. She's the one who should be locked up, not peaceful protestors.
Honestly stunned that even Braverman thought the marching in NI was done by Republicans. No one on Britain really knows or cares about NI *at all* and yet that the marches are unionist is one of the things that has / does cut through to general knowledge. She’s the Home Secretary. Just amazing.
#NowPlaying King Crimson - "Larks' Tongues In Aspic (The Complete Sessions)"
I can understand it not being everyone's cup of tea, but I'm fascinated by the details of how one of my favourite albums came together. And a chance to hear Jamie Muir's percussion and atmospherics solo is not to be missed.
She seems to have found someone at last who isn't either a waste of space or a total grifter and bigot.
Yes, she moved there to be with her latest partner last year sometime. Just read that back to myself and realised it made it sound like she changes her partners as often as underwear, but it's not like that. 😊
Sorry, didn't mean to press you on it, it's just the thought of someone being even more batshit crazy than Braverman having a say in British politics is worrying.
No it doesn't. Our next task is to get Dad to move from Southwold, where he has nobody, to somewhere near Melanie in Rugby, because at the moment he's 3.5 hours drive away. Less than ideal.
I hope that didn't sound dismissive. I just meant that our aging parents are of similar age, so I understand the worry.
I think weak and frail goes with the age, really. I'm glad to hear she's managing.
I mean, she talks the same kind of talk as Orban does in Hungary, and that's pretty much as vile as it gets.
I think "Permanent Waves" is my favourite, although I like all the early albums. "Different Strings" was the first Rush song I ever heard, and I still love it, but the whole album is a joy.
Is there anybody I should know about on the British right? I can't offhand think of anyone worse than Braverman. And btw, isn't she supposed to be some sort of Buddhist? I thought they were anti-violence.
More rightwing than Braverman and Badenoch? Is that possible? Braverman would have people rounded up and shot in a flash if she could.
That's right. The tories were so scared of UKIP that they shifted to the far right and actually became them. There's no more room on the right of the political spectrum in the UK.
She'll probably have him arrested for being short in a built-up area during the hours of daylight. It wouldn't be any less arbitrary than any of her recent announcements. She should definitely seek professional help. I think she has delusions of adequacy.
#NFWDad news
After being through a fairly harrowing time, Dad's much more like his usual self now. This has pluses and minuses, but it's certainly a cause for much relief.
