A little like having the bends.
the worst part about giving trump house arrest for him is that he'll have to stay at a trump property.
it's all downhill from here so you gotta let him have the moment
I really don't even mind nightmares anymore. My dreams are so vivid now, the colors are splashed across the back of my eyes and the air smells fresh like a summer night even with the iron tinge that weighs it down. I don't know what happened, something terrible. Part of me needs to know, but I run.
Why did I count out the change. The numbers don't add up. How much time did I waste. I put everything on the counter, who cares. I won't need money soon. It won't matter.
I have broken some unwritten covenant by coming here. The disgust is palpable. I've brought something upon myself, different from staying where I lived, something new is now after me. I leave the money on the counter of the gas station. I can see something indistinct in the distance. Keep moving.
I have the same dream. I flee my old home because something is coming - it's after us and I beg my parents to understand, we have to go NOW, but they smile at me and there's nothing behind their eyes. I leave them behind. Walking down the street of a new town, people peer at me from behind curtains.
Maybe nothing. I understand there's a limit to what we can do on here. I know that people don't really want to talk about this shit. But I still wonder who and what we are during a time like this.
I think I've been muted by some friends for being so negative and that's fair. I'm cut out of a lot of social life as it is and can really only watch others enjoy this time we have, so I get it. But we watched someone burn alive to stop it and went back to gossiping and I wonder what that means.
So it's weird. It's weird to pretend this isn't all happening. And you can say I'm "gooning to corpses" if you want, I won't stop you, but it's more that I can't turn it off and I can't separate myself from the larger machines that turn the gears that facilitate this because our needs don't matter.
I don't have anything to add about the pictures of dead children, dead families, dead pets and broken homes and gloating, exultant fascists who, let's face it, have won. Murder has won the hearts and minds of our pundit class and I believe they will cheer anything.
I think whether we see trump behind bars or not (I think it's unlikely but hey, who knows) the pundit class will view this question as sewn up and Biden as the inevitable and natural continuation of politics as normal which cannot be allowed to stand or, at least, should not, you know?
And seeing what comes out of Gaza and how it's responded to with anything between antipathy and disinterested to outright glee from the liberal political class fills me with a sort of queasy disgust for our political apparatus which is a punchline at the end of a particularly cruel joke.
I really am laughing at the Trump pout in the photos, but I can't get past that it's sort of meaningless in the larger political scheme. I think it's very vindicating for the Mueller She Wrote crowd but we're still dealing with a ruling party that thinks a faster genocide is a viable solution.
yeah it should be the world's easiest election since 2020 and 2016. and yet.
it's cool that biden is seriously in the running for first incumbent president to lose an election to someone appealing 34 felony counts or, even worse and funnier, the first incumbent president to lose to someone in jail for 34 felony counts.
not guaranteed but it's now fully plausible.
Considering none of the republican party's candidates were strong and only a truly weak party could be pushed around by a used car salesman, the democrats could easily have won by running a mediocre candidate or perhaps running a campaign. which is why novemeber makes me anxious. they're not.
I guess she was wrong about promoting him to run against her. I wonder how she feels about that one, still.
Heya, we're gonna go live with the end of the Rain World sessions, reunite our lil scug with his family, and talk about what makes us feel a game is great vs good!
www.twitch.tv/null_convent...
I'm ostensibly about that cyberpunk and sci-fi video game life, but here we are playing some miscellaneous stuff and chilling.
www.twitch.tvI think you could probably have picked a more appropriate horse
I still think he won't actually be put in jail but hey - there's still time to make a fool out of me and I welcome this one.
oh they got trump on all counts? maybe I'll be proven wrong for the first time in a while, besides the question about the horse song that is, and he'll go to jail. that would be funny as hell. I can't wait to be wrong as hell.
I never heard it while I was on the clock but I can really believe it.
Dean Martin is one of the classic straight men in comedy and he killed it.
oh no kidding? I didn't know it was on that game's playlist.
Of the four though, by far, Seinfeld himself is the least interesting and the flattest. Part of that is by design, he's the straight man and the rest are parallels and foils who are allowed to be more expressive, and that's partially because Seinfeld is flat as an actor.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus I think did a very good job with Elaine but her character is sort of designed to be something of a parallel to Seinfeld himself narratively which means she's not always as dynamic a character as Kramer or George.
so it sounds like he was more right than I was, I was surprised to hear that this is more commonly known than I expected but probably outside of millennials, the number of people familiar with it drops rapidly.
just out of curiosity, my partner and I are having a good natured debate - how many of you are familiar with the band America and their single Horse With No Name from memory?
Yeah it sounds like it's surprisingly well known now but the window on that is essentially shut.
I feel like ultimately Jason Alexander was the standout in the main cast.
that's sort of how I know it. that's really interesting because I've never heard anyone else talk about them.
most of those are on the greatist hits album, which I primarily know because my dad played the whole thing weekly
like is this something that everyone sort of knows do you think? or is it more niche?
like is this a pretty common bit of cultural knowledge do you think?

Anyway we'll go over the ways narrative is constructed in Rain World, the shape of the game, the way it plays and so on during stream. It'll be fun!
you can learn a ton on the wiki but otherwise you have to pick apart lore by combinations of context, direct plot event, and going really far out of your way to unearthing specific details that re-remediated for slugcat.
