a little barred owlet peering out of the nest this morning
they're still several days from leaving the nest, but we're getting close! 🦉
This one is the male! I think he just looks big since I was fairly close. The female was back near the nest, I dont actually have any photos of her yet since she's so much more skittish compared to the male
this morning's bird up close. note that the owl's feet are muddy and there are twigs poking out of his chest feathers - signs that he was hunting frogs in the mud 🦉🐸
i'm live on twitch.tv/thekyle, sorting & editing some recent owl photos :)

That sounds like so much fun! Is it possible to rent the 600, and then take your 400/4 along for backup in case you need to shoot wider? I love to over-prepare for trips haha
During warbler season I'd probably opt for the 600/4, but really depends on what species you're shooting and how cooperative they are!
today I got a photo i've been after for a while: a wider shot of a barred owl, showing more of the forest around the bird. this is at 92mm on my 70-200, a lens you don't often get to use with birds! what a treat to get to watch this bird on the hunt🦉
pretty excited about this photo from today, of a Barred Owl coughing up a pellet composed of the bones and other indigestible bits of his prey. I've seen this behavior countless times, but never gotten a photo this clear. and at 300mm, too! 🦉

Billain has done a couple concept albums (this is his most recent, though TBH i think the earlier one Nomad's Revenge might be more concepty): open.spotify.com/album/3jltlC...
Definitely not often I see 90+ minute albums in the electronic world! tis a land of singles and EPs
