Community garden day 1 and day 2. Day 3 starts tomorrow 🌱
Apparently this lot used to be a baseball diamond, so there's a *wonderful* layer of clay a foot under everything 😅
Note that I haven't had covid before (or yet?), so I'm entirely unfamiliar. My partner was also feeling "off" a few days prior though that may have been unrelated. We both haven't been anywhere dense for a long period, and never without masks. I haven't gone anywhere out of precaution. Weird though.
Unsure (but pretty certain) that I had covid earlier this week. Sore throat all day and chills for a night, then woke up and felt fine. Whole thing lasted *maybe* 3 days tops. I'm 6x vaxed and mask everywhere.
I know my apt neighbour across the hall is sick with "a cold" right now tho, so who knows
Conspiracy theory: they reuse the mud in those rug cleaning videos to make the next rug dirty.
They're going to slide across the front end and cut their tibial artery on the metal
Me: [showing them a picture of a deathclaw]
Them: holy fucking shit that's cool as hell
I always say "nobody is a bibliophile on moving day"
Moving home from college (and having worked in a bookstore the entire time) resulted in my 2009 Pontiac getting a rear right flat due to the weight of the boxes. Should have dispersed the weight better 😅
As a recovered stage manager I will attest that no stage manager would buy something so unreliable 😂
One time while drawing blood, the nurse asked me what I did for work.
"I'm a game artist" I said
she replied "oh that was my son's dream job, he always wanted to work on Donkey Kong levels"
"we all want to work on Donkey Kong levels" I said
I got the bisexual space ones a couple months back. They have poprocks in them?? so it just tasted like an ordinary Oreo but with a much worse experience
I bought Hifi Rush when it came out *because* it was a short game. It was a great ~9 hours and perfect for a long weekend. It didn't even have microtransactions. Just a fun time the whole playthrough. Those devs (and all devs) deserve better.
My Tern S10 has a cargo rack and also folds to store in our apartment. I regularly use it for groceries once a week. I still use a backpack but most of it fits in the saddle bag or on the rack. Takes every ounce of me to not say "yup that's no goin' anywhere" every time I tie down a bag 🤓
Getting arrested by the NYPD for selling food without a license because they found a copy of Green Eggs and Ham
This isn't the first case, I once saw a squirrel doing bong rips to cure his depression
It is "the first known case of active wound treatment in a wild animal with a medical plant," biologist Isabelle Laumer told NPR. She says the orangutan, called Rakus, is now thriving.

www.npr.orgWhat are some good 3D printing sites? I regularly check Printables and I know there's others but I don't know if they're good
What's wild is the framing that shooting it was the difficult choice, when that's actually the easy choice. It's easy and quick to just remove the challenge. It's actually difficult to care for and train a dog properly! It requires working with the animal! Or the work to rehome it properly!
Got arrested for poaching and my grocery license revoked when I bought a family pack of doritos because I only had a tag for a single pack.
Posing for a picture in full ghillie suit holding a box of chicken nuggets
Sitting up in a treestand I set up in the dairy section for six hours until I see the restocking guy adds another 12 pack of kraft mac and cheese.
I really enjoy the little cut-ins you made into the bottom of the windows 😌👌
(Also the foliage is great of course)
I did a few community streams last year, but it was environment art and only the part that was "I spent three weeks on this modular kit, time to start replacing the greybox and talk to the community for an hour or so" which always reminds me that only the last 2% of game dev is watchable.
Every time I see you post about your field courses I get MASSIVELY jealous that I don't know of any in southwestern Ontario 😭
The shift in what the player engages in. From tension and danger and exploring, to safety and relaxing and tedium. The act of returning to your Minecraft home with a full inventory from the Nether, ready to organize loot and harvest crops
Also I know hygge isnt really a lifestyle but only 300 cha 😂
Is there a game design term for that mode shift in survival games when you come back to your built up home from The Horrors (combat, resource gathering, exploring, etc) to organize and relax in safety?
I've seen it called "Hygge" (like the lifestyle) but don't know if that's accurate
Can't believe I almost missed out on a religious holiday
Does the +0, -2, and +2 entry variants refer to level? Not sure how I never noticed that while tinkering in the construction set
Not sure if Fable 1 to Fable 2 did this, but Fable 2 to Fable 3 did in the form of the character you played in 2 is the parent to the character you play in 3, with Alignment carrying over but nothing else I think?
I saw a woman foolishly wearing the blue pairs - and I explained that she was, in fact, not wearing the Woman's Ear Protection. She couldn't hear my Very Good Arguments 😭
My city needs to outlaw leaf blowers. What a noisy and inefficient waste
I wish there could be a class action lawsuit to ruin any company making fake eclipse glasses. What a shitty way to ruin a cool and fun event
Sorry to bother, but do solar viewers expire? I have optical density 5.0 glasses from the transit of Venus in 2012, but nowhere on the glasses does it say ISO 12312-2 so is it safe to assume they aren't?
It's advertising a dream that's just not realistic. I don't see Twitch, Youtube, Steam, Unity, or anyone else advertising to kids about some dream that chances are they'll never reach.
It's aspirational not to push a medium or become an artist, it's solely advertised as a money-making venture.
I'll also mention that one thing I severely hate about the platform is the constant "you can make SO much money!!!" aimed at 12 y/o's when it's like 99.9% of games make $0, .01% make a little, and only 50 games make over $1 million, and those are professional studios with over 50 staff. 1/2
What I think it most insidious about the article quote is that it doesn't mention the platform is 100% internet connection required for both playing the game AND editing software. Not sure how many Indonesian slums have reliable internet
Not sure what you mean by "drop a power up in" - the games aren't built by pulling things out of a toybox (like Core if I remember correctly). There are some starter assets but those are like a drivable car chassis, a shitty tree, a gun that shoots a projectile, etc. Game ready, sure, but basic.
Similar to Youtube Premium viewers that have a better return for videos. The problem arises when in Roblox you can't turn that off, so you *can't have a non-monetized game*... so you can't legally use assets that aren't CC0 license ever. No small goofy fan game. It automatically is always monetized.
This isn't true - developers can make any part of their game free or monetized, both require code to implement like any other tool/mechanic of a game.
What IS bullshit, is that Roblox has premium payouts (when a premium user plays your game you get a small payout from Roblox) 1/2
