The guy they claim "weaponized the Justice Dep't" not only didn't squash his own son's investigation/trial, but actually let it play out, & has accepted the case's outcome.
Look, I know y'all have hangups about JB, but any talk of him & DT being close to the same kinda human is... well, malarkey.
I mean, stranger things have happened. See: ‘JOHN WICK: Parabellum’. Or ‘THE RAID’ getting “Redemption” tacked onto it, only for its sequel, ‘THE RAID: Berandal’ (aka ‘THE RAID: Retaliation’), to just get renamed ‘THE RAID 2’. And let’s not even get into the FAST & FURIOUS series’ naming nonsense…
Theaters—and I mean the big chains—should have revival/rep. screenings EVERY DAY in the summer. The Spidey & LOTR movies are showing all month and they all fill up! Cinemas would only help themselves by having a family-friendly film or 2 screen daily, not just once a week. "People will come, Ray..."
If nothing else, I’m pleasantly surprised by the fact that WB—who are batting close to zero at the moment—committed to calling the sequel ‘BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE’, almost ensuring what the eventual 3rd film will be called...
I mean, maybe. Hollywood loves inconsistent sequels names, so we'll see.
“Lady and gentlemens…” — a followup:
#Furiosa was far more than “a quarter as good as” and far better than just a “Thunderdome to Fury Road’s Road Warrior.” Annoying box office discourse be damned, I think it’ll only grow in esteem with time. The movie rules. The whole franchise rules. #filmsky
‘MAD MAX: Fury Road’ is a masterpiece — arguably the best action flick of the 21st century and one of the better films of this young millennium, period. And if ‘FURIOSA’ is even a quarter as good, or only manages to be the ‘Thunderdome’ to FR’s ‘Road Warrior’, I’ll take it!
Witness me—err, her:

youtu.beI know the Internet wants the next Predator film to have one of ‘em face off with like, a medieval viking or a samurai in feudal Japan, but now I kinda wanna see a middle-class Predator going through some sh!t on their lousy home world. Like, dude hates his job & plots to kill his rich jagoff boss…
Anyway.
What if The Predator’s whole culture didn’t revolve around hunting and the ones we see in the movies are just rich assholes out on intergalactic safari?
This week on #LateToTheParty, my pod worlds collide as @camburnspsp.bsky.social & I are joined by my other show co-, Becky Sayers, who'd never seen THE 'BURBS! We talk its tonal balancing act, the Dante, Dern, & Ducommun of it all, & lots more! You can find said show here: linktr.ee/paperstreetp...
RIP, Dabney Coleman (9 TO 5, TOOTSIE, ROLLING THUNDER, WARGAMES, CLOAK & DAGGER, MUPPETS TAKE MANHATTAN), who was such a memorable presence in everything he did.
Echoing @drewmcweeny.bsky.social & @weinberg.bsky.social’s short-lived, but lovely podcast, “80s All Over”: Dabney Coleman is first-rate.
This week on The PAPER STREET Podcast, we chat w/ actor Connor Paolo ('STAKE LAND', 'Revenge', 'Gossip Girl') about his background, career, acting on both stage & screen, action flicks, music, & more! And catch Connor in 'THE LAST STOP IN YUMA COUNTY', out now on VOD! #podcast #movies #film #filmsky
So, flower bouquets are now running 80 bucks & up? No, thanks. I’d rather gift my wife a hundred dollar bill & a lighter to burn it than pay that much for, not even roses—the all-rose bouquets are $99+!—but for colorful bundles of mixed weeds that’ll die within a week.
#EverythingIsSoStupidExpensive
Good show, all! This was, without a doubt, the funniest day in this social network’s short existence. People from every corner and walk of life just sniping at and/or piling on the site’s doofy founder (and now EX-board member) — who deserves every bit of the scorn… the fu*kin’ dipsh!t.
I'm apparently a whole day late to seeing this advert (which might as well be a calendar year in Internet time), but not regularly checking Twitter anymore has me behind the times, clearly. Shorter version: folks already made the same points & comparisons a thousand times over back at the bad place.
That new iPad spot would, sadly, fit right in Universal's old T2:3D pre-show. Techies thinking it's a positive to destroy all tactile things & replace 'em w/ little pieces of smart glass is bleak stuff, & quite the leap by Apple—from their famed anti-dystopian 1984 ad to this dystopia-welcoming one.

"Leading U.S. Hospital Chain Files for Bankruptcy" is not a headline we should ever read in a country where for-profit healthcare is a trillion-dollar+ industry. What are we even doing here, gang?
A new #LateToTheParty is up! This week, we're joined by fellow @psp.bsky.social member Farrell Rose, who'd somehow never seen THE MONSTER SQUAD! Tune in to hear whether the Cine-Mechanic, @camburnspsp.bsky.social, & I find this meta '80s romp to be "bitchin'" or "bogus" — linktr.ee/paperstreetp...

Fight as we might, there’s no stopping this. Alls I know is that I, for one, DO NOT welcome our coming robot overlords.
Criterion adds RISKY BUSINESS to the collection. Film snobs clutch pearls.
Meanwhile, olds who survived THE ROCK & ARMAGEDDON discourse prepare their “first time?” memes.
*That said, it is wild that this is Cruise’s first film to get the CC treatment… I mean, THE MUMMY 2017 is right there, guys!
The “OJ was cast as The Terminator” story’s been passed around for years, & I appreciate @galeannehurd.bsky.social for dispelling it outright. So many Hollywood tales that get perpetuated are total BS, so it’s good when someone who was there/knows for sure set the record straight. Also: f*ck OJ.
I've joked that my lifelong love for pro wrestling is the most abusive relationship I've ever had—and it is—but I've come to realize just how much of my PTSD with it was tied to 1 awful man. Thank those who my arms are too short to box with that Vince is gone for good. Anyway, #WrestleManiaXL ruled.
A new episode of 'The PAPER STREET Podcast' is up! This week, we chat with filmmaker Anthony Cousins about his new feature, #FROGMAN (out now on VOD!), as well as Muppets, makeup effects, cryptid accessories, Lovecraft, and more! Find ways to listen to said program here: linktr.ee/paperstreetp...
Date night in downtown.
Had good sushi. Bartender got my LAWRENCE OF ARABIA reference. Saw Brett Goldstein do standup. Walked Roosevelt Row. Witnessed a homeless man get into a fight with signage on a light pole.
Great evening. No notes. Would do again.

The latest #LateToTheParty is a unique 1, in that we had previous guest Alex Cuervo return to talk the 1st 3 SCREAM sequels, & turned his trio of minisodes into a maxi-sode (so, be sure to 1st check out our SCREAM '96 installment w/ Cuervo). You can find said episodes here: linktr.ee/paperstreetp...

Be wary of the Internet today. It's full of deliberately-misleading info.
April 1st:
Be wary of the Internet today. It's full of deliberately-misleading info... from suckers who also all think they're being funny and clever.
Fools, indeed.
If you don’t think about abandoning/deleting at least one of your social media accounts a minimum of once a week, then you’re a dang psyc— erm… uh (*ahem*), no, I shouldn’t accuse any of you of being an anything. I’ll only just say, then, that you and I are not alike. #EnshittificationNation
I try not to sh!ttalk films & filmmakers, so alls I’ll say is that I hope I never again see CG-aided punch/kick/contact fight shots as janky as those in a certain reimagining (w/ a sizable budget, star, & director) that just hit Amazon. It was distracting to the point of taking me out of the thing.
Repeat after me: “Twitter is a cesspool, and not an accurate reflection of real life or even of the subcultures and niches allegedly represented on it.” Yes, most of you already know this and, hoo boy, was it ever reaffirmed (for approximately the 8,000th time) for me today.
#XitNow #TouchGrass2024
As major/top-used apps go, Instagram might be the buggiest of The Great Enshittification. I’ve tried to post various photos sets/carousels for weeks, & it crashes and/or deletes the drafts I made for them. Yeah, yeah, “delete & reinstall”. Defeats the purpose, as I’d lose all the drafts I’ve made.
“No movie featuring either Harry Dean Stanton or M. Emmet Walsh in a supporting role can be altogether bad.” ~Roger Ebert
RIP to the latter—who you can make a case for putting on the Mt. Rushmore of “that guy!” character actors—seen in everything from BLOOD SIMPLE to BLADE RUNNER to BACK TO SCHOOL.
Revisiting Hulu’s lone—& underseen—season of #HighFidelity for the 1st time since it debuted, & we keep “oh, that was them?!”-ing actors we didn’t know at the time who we now know well, like Kingsley Ben-Adir (BARBIE), Ivanna Sahkno (‘Ahsoka’), & *Oscar-winner* Da’Vine Joy Randolph (THE HOLDOVERS).
A record store owner revisits past relationships through music and pop culture while trying to get over her one true love.
www.hulu.comI dove into some dense & niche (at the time) fandoms in my youth—like Dune, LOTR, & weird cosmic Marvel stuff—so it’s wild to have seen ‘em all go mainstream… to the point that, like, bros know the name Atreides, your normie pal can namecheck 2-3 Tolkien elves, & Rocket Raccoon is a household name.
Texas 'bout to get Blue(balls).

Banning TikTok will garner Dems zero votes, but will cost them literal millions. Ds could more-less lay low for the next 9 months and let the party of creepers across the aisle continue imploding, but nah. These dorks see a rake, and they just gotta step on it.
Yeah, the aforementioned John Mulaney—who’s slayed a few awards hosting gigs now—is top of my list to do the honors next. But it’s no secret why ABC continues to tap their late-night guy for the job. If you’ve seen IN GOOD COMPANY, then you know it’s all about (::does the hand motion::) *synergy*.
It could be ‘cause there’ve been some bad, odd and/or Covidy shows in recent years, but this #Oscars ceremony felt like the best & breeziest telecast in a good while. Bits that actually landed, Mulaney’s FIELD OF DREAMS recap, cutting to Messi the dog clapping, the “I’m Just Ken” number — good show!
