www.youtube.comMiss Pettigrew Lives for a Day is great. So is The Fortnight in September.
Thank you. I love that Matthew Francis version of the Mab. "Here at the turn of the leaf a horseman is riding
through the space between one world and another . . ."
Thanks - could I be cheeky and ask which famous poets? And hope all is going well with you - lot of water under the bridge since Indy days!
My list of that would be limited to Ish, as I call him, and Murakami.
How many Welsh authors can you name? And how many Welsh books, fiction, non-fiction, poetry, etc (you can define 'Welsh' as broadly as you like)? It's for a thing.
His German is very good, but the whole content was, let's be kind, economical with the actualité.
My father always advised me 'have you looked under things?' when I couldn't find something. Have you looked under things?
7,073 so far but just about to go to B&Q to look for sandbags and then this evening likely to go for a drink to the Hare and Hounds, so will be more like 12,000 by close of play.
A good day gets even gooder. Tickets for this year's Snooker World Championship have arrived in the official Johnson Towers inbox.
I've just finished reading Pigeon by Alys Conran (for a thing). It's not quite Secret History but it is very intense, is about young folk (younger than in Secret Hist) and there's a great plot twist. Set in Wales.
'Destination Expert' is a great title. Had a great time wandering around the big B last Sunday for the marathon. Day before only got out of the house in Sitges where it rained non-stop all day to eat calcots like a piggie.
When I think what I was being paid for 1,000 words in 1998 and what I'm offered now, I feel a bit sick.
It's missing some people with their hands in the air, their eyes and mouths wide open in delight.
Also, they're all gigantically loud, which still doesn't help the muffled dialogue.
@salimotxo.bsky.social We - Mrs J, me, and young master J - are going to be in the big B next weekend for the marathon (cheering on Number 2 son). Are you at all in the area for a meet?
Tremendous stuff. I wonder what an AI version of Jilly C would look like.
Yes, I've got one which nobody took out too! It's the longest one so perhaps it's putting people off?
UK Public Lending Rights payments/stats are in. Many thanks to everybody who borrowed my books from a library last year. Hope you enjoyed them. Most borrowed was How To Give Your Child A Lifelong Love of Reading, then Shed Manual, and then Rooms of Their Own.
Public Lending Right payments just in. Many thanks to everybody who's taken out one of my books in the last year. Hope you enjoyed them. FWIW, the most popular was How To Give Your Child A Lifelong Love of Learning, then Shed Manual, then Rooms of Their Own.
This is the work of an old schoolfriend of mine. He's an excellent photographer (as well as a fine chap) and I'd strongly recommend it.
'Forelsket' is the retelling of a story set in the 1920's fenlands of East Anglia. It's about a seemingly small decision and the consequences. It's about finding solace after trauma. It's about first love.
Limited edition of 150.

What an arsehat. I'm usually against trying to get people fired but this is one of the exceptions.
I am interested in Madrid posts. Also Sitges. And Valencia. As my wife is an Asturiana, I'll pretend to be interested in those posts too.
