Cat Dad. Reds Fan. Board Game Player. You probably know me as the guy with a cat named Duck.
Agreed. That draft pile you drop into then pick up only on specific rounds, what an absolutely clever twist that I can't think of anywhere. Streamlined and thoughtful are adjectives that go big with me and this has both in spades.
Knocked Let's Go to Japan off the opportunity pile. A lovely drafting game that is especially thematic if you're actually planning a trip. Lol Definitely Neko approved.
Also taught him Sorcerer, which is an awesome card game. Smash Up meets MTG. Hidden gem.
In fairness, at the start of the trial he wasn't either of those things either.
Yeah, like, we absolutely have defined eras in baseball. Speculation of how someone would do is fun, but people that treat Ruth's records like some kind of sacred divine whatever just need to get with the times. Glad the Negro League greats are getting their due.
"Babe Ruth is the greatest hitter of all time." My dude, Babe Ruth never had a Mariano Rivera cutter bearing down on his hands at 8pm, under lights, on day 10 of an East Coast to West Coast road trip. Stop just looking at "stats".
I'm not saying Cy Young or Babe Ruth weren't great players. But if we're drafting people as they were, no adjustments to account for modern whatever, I'll take Nolan Ryan and Shohei Ohtani as my picks thank you.
People getting fussy about Negro League stats being counted as official because "they didn't play against the best". Yeah, neither did the white players, that's half the point. The other half is that only one group was FORCED to he segregated.
Also, baseball is too weird with history stats.
Also, when I see a dude defending predators this full throated, I assume they're also defending something in their past they hope never comes out.
Been doing my annual top 100 (like to see how my tastes change) and I've been marveling at how my thoughts on the Dinosaur Island line have evolved into Duelosaur Island being my head and shoulders favorite. Just condenses the experience into a tight and fun package with a third of the lift.
I've limited Lacerda experience but he's definitely in the folder, I like it but only when someone else:
Owns it
Hosts it
Teaches it
If I've got no more investment than show up and play, I dig what I've tried.
I will never tire of people meeting Duck for the first time. He just inspires joy.
Partner's bff seeing Duck: Ohh, who's this?
Me: That's Duck. He's everyone's favorite. A big dumb charisma boy.
Friend: Really?
Partner coming in: OH HELLO MR DUCK!
Duck excitedly running over for pets and attention.
Friend: Okay, I see it.
My girlfriend came over with her best friend who loves board games. She got excited when she saw I had King of Tokyo. Figured that's one I can play one-handed and my gf had never played. It was a nice distraction from the trauma. Felt great to laugh a little.
First day back to work. I'm very lucky that I have a digital work from home job that I can do one handed.
Still. I'm tired and don't wanna. Lol
Geez has anyone else been blocking a ton of follow back bot accounts this weekend? What is this? Twitter?
Last time someone said that Zeus was temporarily an only child.
Yahtzee is. If when setting the game up you scroll down it shows all the different rules and variations you can play with.
As my partner was pulling out my care package she got me she yelled, fuck! Why did I get this!?
I had to laugh.
Not far and not much, and absolutely no grip strength...but, I can move my wrist and I'm pretty sure I didn't break it which is awesome. Still gonna be a while before I can properly strength train but at least my Fuji climb should still be okay.
Taught a friend Triple Yahtzee on BGA and during the big roll and write boom they should have released that version in a compact, kitschy box. It really is a great light roll and write.
Partner came back from visiting her parents and brought me some fresh strawberries and snacks as a care package. I cut the strawberries up and added it to Strawberries and Banana Cheerios with some chocolate chips and damn was this delicious.
Kind of a weird way for the AI used to write this to dunk on the work culture at Money Wise.
I love this movie so much. My favorite use of the Rashomon technique and absolutely incredible cinematography.
After an extremely painful trip to the grocery store it's back to resting and my big joy for the weekend, final day of Grand Sumo Natsu Basho!
Yup. They put you in a room and give you a little to drink. If no symptoms a little more. After an hour if you're symptom free, you're clear.
An important lesson from yesterday. I was always told I'm allergic to Penicillin. I got a new doc and he said that can disappear as you age and forced me to get tested. I got cleared for use literally one month before I needed it due to bacteria in the dog's mouth. Get tested.
Thank you and yeah. Other side of my leg and we're looking at an artery.
In a weird and wild, what my brain latched onto part, I was wearing earpods listing to my 80s running soundtrack. My brain will forever now associate Like a Prayer by Madonna with one of the scariest and most painful experiences of my life. My trauma has a soundtrack. Lol
Yeah, I'll be safe. And yeah. He was immediately caring for me, took me to the hospital, paid everything, including a supply run for gauze and tape and stuff. He seems like a good guy try to rehab an abused dog who just lost control and I was in the wrong spot at the wrong time.
My mom, Grandma, , and I are scheduled for a 5k next week. They're walking to support me trying to run for a new PB sub 40. They asked if I wanted to cancel and I said absolutely not. Don't care if I'm in a sling, dragging my leg like Quasimodo, last across, I'm completing that damn race.
Yeah. The shock is finally wearing off and I'm kind just now processing the fear part of things and how close I came to going to the gaming convention in the sky.
Thank you. I appreciate it. It sucked but I'm thankful it wasn't so bad that I can't heal from it with time and effort.
