hello again
making downpour.games, a game-making app that anyone can use
also i have a website: v21.io
tennis sim for the PC-98, advancing through each round rewards you with a high res still of a tennis hunk dripping with sweat
was worth the time spent, tho! some of the dumbest lines ended up hitting the hardest
I found I only really understood what was going on after reading Nona, a bunch of fan explainers, and then Gideon and the Harrow a second time
I think my favourite Downpour games are the ones I can't share on here. Because they're the ones that people make as a gift for the people they love.
pushing out a new Downpour update! new fonts, fun text decoration effects and a little conceptual shift in how tapping on links works. check the release notes here: downpour.games/~admin/updates
just preordered this: www.knighterrantpress.com/product-page...
Em's writing is great, i look forward to feeling weird about insects!!
“A book-length compulsion to pull off the scab and look underneath […] an expectationfuck of a novel in the most affectionate sense!” – Ryszard Merey of tRaum Books“Meditative, philosophical, but also...
www.knighterrantpress.comi get you - but in a similar way, i probably read the article differently because i was already pretty persuaded by the thread i linked above, which did not rely on that point
like: not covered in the article but in the thread I linked - the deaths stopped after she was taken off the ward - but the ward was also downgraded to take less serious cases a week later.
I don't think this is a huge botch but rather an example of how this case is complicated- that diagram does feel like an example of the sharpshooter fallacy, even if the earlier suspicions don't match that fallacy. like, it's notable that other cases could've been included in the diagram
i found this thread pretty persuasive that the conviction was unsound, tho x.com/christapeter...
There is imo a lot to be very wary about in the Lucy Letby case, at least as it’s being reported https://t.co/pHI7iTlvGG
x.comhuh, i get a 404 for that link - and when i try to go to it from the New Yorker homepage, too
that's 16:30, for people whose "half 4" goes in the other direction
also it'll be streaming online! www.twitch.tv/amazefest
okay thank you!
if you're at Amaze: my panel with Sos Sosowski, @alienmelon.bsky.social and Emilio Coppola is on the big stage at half 4! Also I got some Downpour stickers made, come get some
AZERTY means you might want to do W? Enter also makes sense? mouse click??
like even Barbie is keyed into people's interests in a way that no doubt felt a bit risky at the greenlight stage. it's a metafictional film about feminism with a big dance number!
the three films i'm excited by right now are Challengers, Love Lies Bleeding and Monkey Man. TFG seems like... sure, yes, big film, nice stunts, fine fine fine. Just not a hook there.
i will be speaking at EMF Camp! there are, surprisingly, still some tickets available! www.emfcamp.org/schedule/202...
just put up a Testflight/Google Play thing with a preview of the next Downpour update. some exciting stuff in there, lmk if you want to test

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.govyep, I'm seeing Love Lies Bleeding later but a little tempted just to go back for more Challengers
I love it so much, the score and the film and the way they use it. been obsessed since I saw it

low budget coming of age film: turning up in a foreign country to go to a music festival, and only realising once i was there that i did not have a ticket or indeed enough money for a hotel or a last minute flight home (a rough night's sleep but i got in the next day)
"Added in the long awaited cone primitive! Available to all users. Pro users can enjoy additional primitives such as Torus and Pyramid"
mild spoilers for my longer thoughts here: letterboxd.com/vtwentyone/f...
This review may contain spoilers. Visit the page to bypass this warning and read the review.
letterboxd.comnot sure how big the overlap is between people who want to see a horny film about tennis and people who are excited for a Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross soundtrack that's great for working to... but for the latter group of people, you should check out Challengers (or at least the soundtrack)
also I got some stickers printed, come say hi if you want one
(I'm the person who looks like me, is on the stage at the time indicated above, and who has one of these stickers on their phone)
Gonna be speaking at Amaze next Thursday! Doing a panel on making your own game engine with @sosowski.bsky.social @alienmelon.bsky.social and Emilio Coppola

oh, I guess I should try to build some hype for the upcoming Downpour update. coming soon : new fonts! shadows! some changes that are a bit arcane to explain but make it easier to understand!
the inspiration / the UI
(yes, i am currently adding a five layer deep nested UI, this somehow seems the most sensible way to do it)

cohost.orgjust added a new batch of featured accounts in Downpour. so if you've got the app, there's some new games to play in there. if you don't... someday i'll let you view the featured users on the web. until then you should just get the app.
you guys don't understand how hard i work to not make self deprecating jokes in promotional text americans will read
just read a thread in which someone misspelled "pallet" as "palette", and separately someone misspelled "palette" as "pallet". it's nice to see accidental and unexpected symmetry in the world
can't decide if i want to spend more effort to hang out with the commercial games industry, artworld people or weird tech people. or none of the above, maybe that.
