Just been to see the new Garfield movie and good grief that was not good. 😖
Because the text says “the phantom menace is 25 today!” - so my comment was a direct reference to the movie, not the art.
ICYMI I wrote about the one good aspect of a new movie in The Lord of the Rings series coming, which could turn into a list if it turns out well, for a @damagecontrolblog.bsky.social post. www.dcgameblog.com/2024/05/cogn...
To put it simply: Gollum won the argument.

Y’know those people who get all snarky and superior about “standing ovations” in movie theatres because the filmmakers can’t hear it?
Yeah, I avoid going to movies with those people too.
uh uh I just saw Challengers and I'm 😳 definately one of my favorite movies this year or probably ever.
this movie is full of emotions and the end scene got my heart racing.... it's a tennis movie and it's also very much not about tennis

Ok so there is a 1980s slasher movie called The Last Slumber Party (1988). I want to know if the first slumber party was good
The Garfield Movie was really bad. I'm kinda angry about how bad it was.
Part of me thinks it is because it is a Holliday movie that works for two holidays, therefore it got a lot of exposure that way. Don't know for sure how much it aired on TV, but it makes sense to me.
47) Galaxy Quest. A perfect movie. Not a minute longer or shorter than it needs to be. Both hilarious and moving.
'The Fall Guy' is a perfect movie. Instant classic. Great chemistry with Blunt. Gosling doing something like 'The Nice Guys' but with a self-awareness that we haven't seen since folks like Swaggernager made 'Total Recall' and other weird movies.
100% Strong recommend. Go see 'The Fall Guy'.
Took the kid to the Garfield movie preview today. Strange Garfield story, but child had a good time.
coca cola NEEDS to hire me to make a super self-congratulatory film about the making of fanta. it'll be in black and white and the only color in the movie will be the orange soda in the bottles. no mention will be made of the holocaust, just oblique references to how hard it is to sell soda nowadays
me: haha it's pretty funny that this orange soda was made by nazis
random guy who claims he doesn't even drink or care for the soda: MAX KEITH IS THE OSKAR SCHINDLER OF SODA
I love that movie SO MUCH. This is kind of a wimpy list actually. I'd steer folks away from Ravenous and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark if gore in the first place or actually being frightened in the second place aren't their jam. Other than that, these are mostly just moody.
tbh i like some of the costume designs in the movie that def doesn't exist, and their poster looked pretty cool. i added that yellow/green/blue color scheme from it
this movie looks so good I turned off the subtitles, who cares what they're saying, don't block these perfect images

Honestly, been thinking about this, and I don’t agree with how I framed the movie earlier.
It’s FOR EVERYONE, but certain people will feel certain parts differently, for sure.
I don’t want to be the stepdad who asks “isn’t that a show for girls?”
As a cis guy I wasn’t the target audience for “I Saw the TV Glow” but goddamn it still got to me, it got me REAL GOOD
So many Saturday mornings started with watching this. So many Saturdays ended with bruises. Luckily, only a couple Saturdays ended in the emergency room as we all tried to re-enact this movie.
I never cared for the show, felt boring. And yet it was popular enough to get a musical and a movie. I will never understand the appeal.
Ok but this movie has a shit tonne of women of varying ages, and passes the Bechdel test and is not impressed by slimy scientific companies so like I am actually pretty into this cheese lmty
Right? So mad that their "opinion" is no longer politely tolerated when it should have been denounced from the start. Also; isn't that the Eastwood movie where he straight up rapes a woman who then tries to kill him? Interesting choice for image. Yikes.
Fear and Loathing is half of a good movie but it’s also half of a good book so idk if we can blame Gilliam for dropping that ball.

www.youtube.comExactly. Everything gets cleaned up at an absolute minimum. The movie has such a distinct and unnatural color palette too. Do people think that's what it looks like in Tunisia?

I guess we know what our first film is. I used to wear out copies of the VHS to April when I was a kid it was my favorite movie
And now I'm picturing it's a movie where the protagonist is out to bring her in, but she wins him over with her charm, and before the credits roll, the protagonist is given a makeover and joins her in her cause, the two women walking off holding hands.
This is a good low budget 1980s slasher movie. I would give this horror movie a four out of five because it’s not perfect but it’s still a watchable horror movie
Honestly would be super fun to do a big bsky movie night! Or a small one 😲
"I'm all about healthy masculinity, in which we feel entitled to people's attention, maybe if we just cough and stand confidently, people will realize they have been neglecting me" this is straight from Ken in the Barbie movie. It's cosplay.
He finds awesome art from movies great and bad. That’s awesome. This movie most def isn’t. Watched out recently, about as disappointing today as it was 25 y ago. Love the art, still don’t like the movie. So in essence: it’s a comment

rewatching the first X-Men movie for the first time in forever, and yeah, I get why Wolverine took over the franchise. His introduction scene is iconic in every way, and Jackman instantly embodies the role completely. In a movie where everyone else is wearing costumes, he IS Wolverine.
I wonder if the people at church could tell I saw the Amy Winehouse movie last night?
(I do not recommend the movie unless you, like me, just want to stare at the hair, makeup, and clothes for two hours.)
i literally camped out in front of a movie theater for that movie, 2 hours after the opening text crawl i walked out into a world changed, more cynical young adult

What should I watch?
(available on streaming. I have hbo, Hulu, tubi, etc just not Netflix)
Movie Idea: A modern-day remake of Small Soldiers, except it’s done with those Robosen Transformers figures. A modder imbeds an A.I. into the toys that accurately recreates the personalities of each of the robots, resulting in Megatron and the Decepticons hatching a plot to conquer the Earth.

I think my takeaway after sleeping on it is Challengers felt super...tame. Maybe my brain is broken or I expected too much but the whole thing felt like a disaffected Hollywood exec's idea of taboo.
I did enjoy the movie though, it was a solid B, especially watching with a group of friends.
