This is the face of one very happy Birder from Birmingham after viewing the long staying American Golden Plover @ #Belvide yesterday. What a beauty.

Mega mega - my colleagues reporting a BRIDLED TERN on RSPB Coquet Island. Will it still be there for me tomorrow morning??

Not great pictures, but Spotted Flycatcher has probably become rarer than Red-backed Shrike here in recent years. From St Fittick's Park earlier today and my first spring record for six years.

I heard this European Greenfinch but it took me a while to see it - mainly because it was the 'other' side of the tree. Quite a distinct sound amongst the many other 'birds on a stick' this morning. I visited a Pebblebed Heath this morning and I've decided it is Birds-On-A-Stick Day. Stonechat, Dartford Warbler, Greenfinch, Linnet, Tree Pipit all agreed with me.

It seemed to be birds-on-a-stick day today - I was up on one of the Pebblebed Heaths and saw a lot of birds calling / singing on sticks - it was just that time of the day. As I video'd a male Stonechat, I heard a Dartford Warbler - these are particularly tricky birds to see as they tend to skulk down in the vegetation - anyway, this might help in telling the difference between these species when you're out and about. See https://youtu.be/v7ntfJU0pqo for a Greenfinch on a stick. #PebblebedHeath #Devon #UKBirding #Birds #NikonP1000 #Nature #Wildlife

Seabirds on a Welsh island could face "catastrophic consequences" after a lifeboat got stuck on rocks and started leaking fuel, a conservation group has said.

www.bbc.comI went for a stroll from West Bexington towards Abbotsbury this afternoon & it was very quiet, apart from a #RedKite, some #Yellowhammers & more #Swifts than I've ever seen before - possibly 200! 😃 #UKBirding
Lots of fledgling and juveniles around now, including this Robin at the North Moors at #uptonwarren this morning. #UKBirding
Domestics have limited birding this week. I did manage a few hours at #uptonwarren earlier. Moors: 2 Med Gulls, LRP, c18 Avocets, Little Egret Oystercatcher juvenile doing well, parents nesting in new site. Warblers quiet and elusive. Best of Flashes Ringed Plover, 2 LRP. General photos. #UKBirding

Domestics put pay to birding today. Here’s more photos from #LadywalkNR on Monday. Common Whitethroat, Mute Swan and chicks, female Goosander and a Grey Heron. The Grey Heron shouldn’t be taken for granted, a recent BTO survey indicated their breeding numbers are still in decline. #UKBirding

This male Red-backed Shrike from Girdle Ness today probably isn't the first picture of one you've seen this spring and it's likely not the best photo either. It was, however, the first one I've managed to see.

Vitifer mine, #Dartmoor #Devon is an interesting place whether you like old industrial sites, wildlife or both. I was hoping to catch the adult Meadow Pipit feeding its young; unfortunately, a Linnet and then a Blackbird pushed the youngster away.

A few hours this morning around a very quiet Earlswood, taking in New Fallings Coppice, Clowes Wood and all three pools. It was a delight to spend time watching these Great Crested Grebe chicks at close quarters. Best of the rest Goldcrest, Nuthatch, Willow Warblers, Blackcaps, Chiffs. #UKBirding

Such a pleasure to hear (& see) this Nightingale still singing well at RSPB Pulborough Brooks mid-morning today. Those long drawn out whistles & rapid, rattling gunning phrases always bring a smile to my face.
3+ Hobby zooming rapidly over the brooks. Cuckoo adding to the ambience too.

Good to see juvenile Avocets flourishing at #uptonwarren today. Best of the rest - Flashes: Dunlin, 8 Shelduck and 8 fledglings, c21 Avocet, 2 LRP, 2 Oyk. Moors: c40 Swift, c30 House Martin, c18 Avocet, 2 Oyk, drake Pochard, 2 GWP, Buzzard, Whitethroat. Sedge Warbler and 2 Cuckoo heard #UKBirding
First #Birding session of the week at #LadywalkNR. Not too bad as had a dunlin and Redshank as well as peregrine and hobby. It was also my first dunlin of the year. Wish I had my camera but alas it was left at home. Wellies highly recommended today.

Am still keen to hear from more UK patch birders, particularly those from less well represented groups e.g. female, age <40 etc. Am also looking for people fairly new to patch birding. If you're interested, get in touch either via DM or through the contact form on the website.

Thick coastal fog rolled in part way through my count of Lapwing broods at Morfa Madryn, so we rose above it to find blue sky in #Eryri. Among the shattered remains of 19th century's slate industry were three Ring Ouzels territories, which always makes for a good day. #UKBirding
On Bignor Hill in a flinty field close to the South Downs Way yesterday afternoon, I spent an hour with this Dotterel (always a special bird to see on the downs in Sussex - so thanks to the finders). With patience it came close enough to give awesome scope views. Better than my pics! Fab!
