Sorry Dr Manhattan.
Sorry Dr Manhattan.
He had it coming.
Dammit, now that song is in my head.
Not shown: The Snoopy cup behind Dr. Manhattan on Mars.
Lucky Blue guy!
This is true as I did join Twitter back around then because you made a post about using it on your website
I'm tired of this Neil Gaiman, these Neil Gaimans. I'm tired of being caught in the tangle of their Neil Gaimans—
But then he discovers the thermodynamic miracle of Neil Gaiman, and goes to another world where he might create more Neil Gaimans.
I'm not sure that any problem is being described here. I very much enjoy the Neil Gaiman-verse
It’s Neil Gaiman’s all the way down! 😁
Can't believe you're doing this to him on partially muscled skeleton stands by the perimeter fence and screams for thirty seconds before vanishing day. Fucked up.
Happy Partially Muscled Skeleton Stands By The Perimeter Fence And Screams For Thirty Seconds Before Vanishing day for those that celebrate
It's so true! 🤣🤣🤣
This made my circulatory system laugh itself through the kitchen.
Oh no, it's contagious!
We are totally ok with that turn of events, really.
To be perfectly honest I had never of @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com until I joined Bluesky several days ago. I've seen your name so many times now that I finally googled Good Omens. The book looks to be quite entertaining and I look forward to read it soon. Kudos!
I hope you enjoy it!
better market penetration and sales through ubiquitous microblogging platform usage!
This will date me, but it was Babylon 5 season 5 "Day of the Dead" that also guest starred Penn and Teller.
That was my introduction to @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com
My best experience was listening to "American Gods" While on a solo road trip to a funeral. It was what I needed.
I bet that was magnificent. The book touches on so many relevant themes. I used to frequently commute from KY to MO and made a point of passing through Cairo. I never saw Mr. Jacquel or Mr. Ibis though I did get stink eye from a cat once.
My cousin had committed suicide and it was a bitter drive.
I knew nothing of the book going in. Just started the audio as I set out. I had the time so I planned to avoid interstates and chain eateries.
There is no better book for a melancholy cross country drive through the ancient Appalachians
I'm glad it gave you comfort!
I am sorry. If you wanted, I would hug you. I have to think the bitter sweetness of the book was deeply touching. ❤️
One of my favorite Babylon 5 episodes.
Same here.
I’m reading American Gods now.
If memory serves, the Gaim species were named for Gaiman.
That episode should be in the dictionary under 'bittersweet'.
Don't get me started about comedians getting into politics ;)
I aspire to never be so famous that someone has to say they've never heard of me 😅
talk about customer service!
I'm quite certain I will! I'm going to purchase it first thing tomorrow and just put down what I'm reading right now! Absolutely astonished at the delightful responses from people sharing how much they love and treasure Good Omens and other works/books you've written.
Dont you want for us to burn that book? I’m pretty sure that’s what you wrote on mine. 🤔😂😂
Oh wow, you are in for a treat! Neil has magic pouring from every cell in his body. He is a lot of peoples absolute favorite author and genuinely seems like an amazing dude. Plus, he's a delight to listen to when he narrates his own books.
I honestly believe that in a few decades, he'll be considered on par with Ray Bradbury.
(and I hope Neil doesn't read this, since I'm imagining him saying, "Please! I will *never* be on par with Bradbury!")
It's an extremely bold thing to believe. It's also an extremely true thing.
Amazed at the responses and with all of the rave reviews I can see getting started will only be the beginning of the adventure!
Have fun!
Looking forward to the adventure!
Read American Gods. It will change your life.
I remember when The Graveyard Book was released - @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com narrated each chapter from a different venue in different cities in the USA (if my memory serves me correctly) - that was incredible- waiting for the next chapter to arrive.
one of my favorites
I loved it back then, awesome story. And now the streaming series from Amazon and BBC brought it all back to memory in a very good way. :-)
Well, I'm definitely going to read the book before checking out the series. It will certainly be something to look forward to.
Yeah. I would recommend reading it first, too. Have fun :-)
Thanks! I started it this morning and am really enjoying it.
You will Love it!
I think so - given all of the replies and the little bit I read to check it out.
All of Neil’s books/creations are amazing. You’re in for a treat going down that rabbit hole.
Can't wait to read/watch them given all of the rave reviews!
This could be the beginning of a great love story! Book love🤗
I loved it and have reread it many times. Also watched the TV series and thoroughly enjoyed the audio drama. @neilhimself.neilgaimen.com signed my copy “Burn this book it says. No PTerry signature even though they have many of his.
Wow! He's certainly very talented from what I'm reading in these responses. Looking forward to getting started with Good Omens and moving on to others.
Had you heard of Coraline or American Gods or other books/film adaptions?
Sometimes we know the creations but not the creator, i.e., near everyone in the world knows James Bond and Batman, but not everyone knows Ian Fleming and Bob Kane.
I have read the name Coraline, but that's the extent of it. It's odd because my post was very spontaneous and I had no expectations of receiving any responses. The blessing is that the thoughtful, enthusiastic responses have opened up a new world of books to broaden my horizon! Grateful to all!
Read all of them. You won't regrett
Can't wait to get started. @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com is very fortunate to have such a dedicated group of supporters who are willing to take the time to share the love of his work with a total stranger, brand new to this site.
Would highly recommend Sandman, American Gods, The Ocean at the End of the Lane, and, well... everything else.
I'm starting with Good Omens tomorrow and then will be venturing into the rest of his world. Love, love, love having a prolific writer to keep me entertained. Very much look forward to getting started! Appreciate the observations of so many of you who value his work!
My favorite living author. (He's got stiff competition from Pratchett, Adams, Wells, Poe, Ovid, and Homer for favorite author of all time.)
Can't wait to get started. The journey starts tomorrow with my first dive into Good Omens! Thanks for the response. Mr. Gaiman has quite a devoted group of followers.
This always amazes me considering I've been a fan since "Good Omens" first published. Fantasy and scifi being my main genres since I could read, he's been big for most of my lifetime.
I don't know how I missed him, but jumping on the bandwagon now that I've learned about him from all of his enthusiastic supporters! I feel like I've been living under a rock somewhere since everyone else seems to know him or of him.
And the joy of starting with Good Omens is you'll be introduced to Terry Pratchett also...
Cue the people popping up from the hedges whispering "someone new to Discworld?
... we have reading charts... "
You’re going to love it!
Tbh, I came to Good Omens because of Terry*, not Neil **. And then I read what Terry had to say about Neil and now I am looking fwd to my first Gaiman.
And you are right, @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com was the first familiar name I saw after joining here :)
* am a big fan
** had no idea who he was
Be sure to check out the series on Prime as well. It's wonderful!
I found a paperback collection of Neil Gaiman's works and it is a delightful introduction. There are some excerpts from linger works, but I love the short stories. Usually wind up reading 2-3.😍
Can’t wait until they watch the series 🤣
I'm excited that you have so much Gaiman to discover!
I was gifted Good Omens by my best friend shortly after it was released. I have since lost count of how many times I have purchased it because I am always giving my copy away. I currently have 3 copies but all three will be given as gifts for Christmas. Thankfully I have it in audio and ebook.
Oh, it’s a blast.
Just started it and "it's a blast" is certainly an apt description so far!
It's one of very few books I've read more than once.
I did buy the book and have started reading it. Am thoroughly enjoying it and can see it would be easy to want to read again.
The Ubiquitous Neil Gaiman.
The voice for fiction in our time
I mean there are definitely worse Fates. Like the one that we all escaped to end up here.
Not actually mad about it though
That is a lot of followers for Bsky.
Good that's less time they'll spend on the bigoted demagogues platform
They forgot Tumblr
😂😂😂
What a time to be alive and literate, huh? 💙
Left out best line - " all we ever see of stars is their old photographs"
That is one surprisingly accurate comic.
Don't apologize...he's in heaven!
with inflation, dr manhattan is looking a lot more like phd montreal
I want mix shortblogging service and my comic bookstore that way!
It's true...but also I'm not upset about that!
Leave some everything for the rest of us, ya jerk /j
He's not complaining. He's sitting enveloped in existential bliss.
It's funny because it's true 😁
This is Tumblr erasure and I will not stand for it.
🤣🤣🤣
This is not necessarily a bad thing.
Since there's no DMs on this app, I'll just do this
@pseudo64.bsky.social
😂😂😂
Ultimate evolution of form achieved
You are a meme
In a thousand years the real Gaiman will be merely urban myth
But the meme will remain
Everything is Neil Gaiman.
But is Neil Gaiman everything?
This is funny as hell. I don't mind it.
The world needs more Neil Gaiman, or a Neil-Gaiman-like sense of wonder and magic.
Neil Gaiman All At Once
And he failed to mention Tumblr!
This has me rolling.
Admittedly, it COULD be worse. It really could.
So let's be happy what we've got.
And I keep meaning to read other things, but I just keep going back to Good Omens. And fan fiction. Dammit, Neil, you’re not only infectious but now you’ve crossed the blood-brain barrier. Give it back, please.
I don’t remember if 2013 was the year you peaked on Twitter, but I do remember around that time-ish I crashed a media event, in a gallery just outside NY Comic Con, and you showed up with a black eye.
Ever since deciding to follow Neil Gaiman on bluesky my feed is @30% his posts.
...
No complaint there, just stating.
The Snoopy cup thing however...
*runs screaming from MATT. DAMON*
He says it like it's a bad thing?
Sorry, not sorry?
After I received the invite code the first person I looked for was Neil Gaiman.
Now im picturing the Polka Dot guy from The Suicide Squad, but all he sees are Neil Gaiman's everywhere.
I could imagine worse fates.
Haha this is funny!
I am using the Neil Gaiman app. Everything is 1998.
There are people I have to unfollow because they fill up too much of my timeline, but you will never be such a person.
Thank you!
A few weeks ago my mother observed that almost everything we watched was from either Neil Gaiman or Taika Waititi. We are living the dream.
There are two paths in life. One with Neil Gaiman, and one that is boring.
This sounds very much like a quote by the German comedian Loriot. He said it about pugs, but let me change it accordingly: "A life without Neil Gaiman is possible, but pointless."
🤣🤣🤣
They forgot tumblr
Seems to me he has always found a way to be in the right place around the right time.
Seeing Neil Gaiman being Neil Gaiman throws me back to the days of Tumblr. It's good to see.

All I feel like doing right now is nestling into the calm of a Neil Gaiman sentence, then feeling the dread of another Neil Gaiman sentence followed by the calm of the next Neil Gaiman sentence.
Neil Gaiman says this is fun. So, I'm passing it on to you lucky people.
A fun interview extract about the upcoming auction: youtu.be/wwCct125y7Y?...
We chat with Neil Gaiman, who has more than 100 lots up for auction in "The Neil Gaiman Collection Comics & Comic Art Signature Auction" at Heritage. Some of...
youtu.beI saw some-ond doing that at Neil Gaiman on Mastodon a couple of months back. He dhut it down well, but I think was the end of Neil Gaiman on Mastodon. #TIWWCHNT
Just seen somebody explain Neil Gaiman characters to Neil Gaiman. Maybe this *is* the new Twitter.
And I can't believe you @'d Neil Gaiman on this! :) I love you, Neil. Forgive me.
“He’s in the Shadow Cabinet.”
I’m sorry, is this a Neil Gaiman book?
uplifting thread
also
on the internet?
It's Neil Gaiman, all the way down.
and turtles
but also, Neil Gaiman.
Hi everybody,
There was no driving thread last night. I'm currently suffering through some sort of cruddy sickness that I'd really hate to spread around. Instead of a driving thread, I thought I'd reflect on how I got here.
Dr Manhattan voice: I'm tired of being caught in the tangle of their indistinguishable accounts
You knew about Neil Gaiman because of all the banger stories he wrote.
I knew about Neil Gaiman because of that time he showed up on Sue Ellen's falafel in that one episode of Arthur.
We are not the same.
Two kinds of skeeters:
"All I ever see on here is Neil Gaiman and John Scalzi!"
OR
"Why is Neil Gaiman not on social media??"
If you post to a Neil Gaiman thread and he responds, your replies are now at least 50% Neil Gaiman for the foreseeable future.
This is *not* a complaint!
I'm not sure about the future, but being able to ask Neil Gaiman questions directly is pretty cool.
This is not the Blue Sky app. This is the Neil Gaiman app. 😁
I think it's because the name is positioned closer to the "Read", being in the same typeface it looks like "Read Neil Gaiman". To me, at least.
Not that people shouldn't read Neil Gaiman, of course. I hear he's quite popular
The hilarious conceit here is that people need the help of some kind of media team access to scream their opinions about Neil Gaiman and Neil Gaiman's career to anyone who will listen, including Neil Gaiman.
I think it's apparent that, historically, that has never been the case.
I’m going to believe this IS the real Neil Gaiman until someone proves otherwise.
I follow Neil Gaiman. You should too. I'm happy to follow Neil Gaiman. I do not want less Neil Gaiman on my feed. I also follow other people. Neil Gaiman is the only person I see on my feed.
Well, him*, and two accounts giving me regular possums and raccoons.
(* 'He'? Nominative? Accusative? 🤔)
calnewport.com/neil-gaimans... I support this. @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com
Earlier this week, Neil Gaiman was interviewed on Icelandic television. Around the twenty-five minute mark of the program, the topic turned to the author’s thoughts ... Read more
