We all clubbed together and got my friend Mark a Nick Cave ticket, and presented it to him yesterday. He was genuinely delighted. So nice to be able to do that for someone.
Thank you. The concert's in October, but it's pretty much sold out already, so we decided to get the ticket now while we still could. There's a whole group of us going now, should be quite the event.
I really miss live music. The wheelchair makes it impossible to go to most small gigs, which I really enjoy, because most of the venues are in cellars, and there's no way to manage all the stairs.
I do, yes. Kraków has a free jazz festival every autumn, which I'm a big fan of, but have been unable to go to for the past 2-3 years because of the pandemic and then the wheelchair. I miss it a lot, I've seen some fantastic concerts there. It's a small festival, but attracts the top performers.
Only the major venues have wheelchair access, but they don't have too many things I want to see. Probably just as well though, as tickets to those events are pricey.
Morning all.
So far this morning I’ve spilt coffee over the tablecloth and down the wall, and tipped a pot of yoghurt all over me and the floor. Can’t wait for the third thing!
Thank you. Yes, we're lucky, Kraków is an outsourcing/nearsourcing centre, and as a result we have a lively community from the Indian subcontinent, so plenty of decent Indian food. We generally spy out which restaurants the Indians go to and follow them.
That’s a good strategy. Very few Indians or Chinese here but the Vietnamese restaurants are very good. Tends to come down to old empires, n’est-ce pas?
Both OH and I find our hands are more slippery lately, another ‘joy’ of old age. I also have cataracts and have recently got quite strong glasses to counteract the problems, unfortunately they also distort things a bit at odd angles and I think at times my hand is slightly off where I think it is.
Morning Robin and all. I'm a little achy from a great night out with friends. Met loads of people from the past, watched performances, sang, danced with perfect strangers, won a raffle prize without even buying a ticket.
Today I must book a holiday or two. Getting my life back!!
Happy Saturday!
Wonderful! Sounds like you’re achy in a good cause. And winning a ticketless raffle is a bit magical… perhaps you should go out and get a raffle ticket while the luck is with you 🍀
Sounds like you had a cracking night out. You probably need a break after that. Next week is mostly free for me - we have two bank holidays (Wednesday and Friday), and most sensible Poles take the whole week off.
You've been busy, hopefully you can get a rest and get your leg issue under control. I think we are off to France on Thursday, got to get crossings booked. I need a holiday!
Next door came in yesterday to say the rats are back-the ditches along the lane are a trad route for them. She wants us to stop feeding the birds, anyway for a bit, and has been assured by someone that they will then go away. I’m not at all sanguine about that hope! Think I’ll get the rat man in!
Oh dear. Sorry to hear that, what a pain. I have no idea about the merits of stopping feeding the birds, but it sounds like a fairly extreme step. Can't help thinking of Fawlty Towers when people mention rats.
