Should I see Godzilla/Kong or Monkey Man tonight?
Should I see Godzilla/Kong or Monkey Man tonight?
I've heard good things about Monkey Man (thouhh everyone seems to agree its halfnan hour too long) but I've hated all of those Godzilla movies so I can't really offer a fair opinion
I did enjoy Kong: Skull Island
I LOVE Skull Island, I think that's a terrific film, seen it a few times now
Yeah, good effects, good action, funny. I mean, best death scene in a movie in years, we all know the one.
Hiddleston and Larson's characters were a bit underdeveloped would be my only major criticism
But even saying that, I wouldn't have wanted rhe movie to be longer or to lose anything that was in there
Vogt-Roberts was supposed to be doing the Metal Gear movie but it seems stuck in production hell. He's doing the live action Gundam for Netflix now, so cautiously optimistic
I also delivered so many PSPs to that guy
Haha had no idea he was in that
Oh yeah, so many of the survivalists and UCA staff.were famous. There's a Japanese novelist amd a musician, neither of which Ive heard of, Junji Ito, Edgar Wright, Conan O'Brien, Sam Lake and maybe some others I'm forgetting.
And of course Guillermo Del Toro and Nicholas Winding-Refn in main roles
Edgar Wright was the weird one for me because I know what his voice sounds like and it was just weird hearing another voice come out of his mouth
With that death people on twitter always QT with posts as if the film makers didn't realise it was really funny when making it
Yeah, I've seen that take too many times. Like, the music is building to a heroic swell and then cuts out with the swipe right? Amd then the explosion. It's just, how can you think that was meant to be serious?
Yeah it's not subtle lol
All I know is a guy who puts that scene in a huge blockbuster has a better than average chance of making a good Metal Gear movie
And yeah, media literacy is in the toilet. People used to take the piss out of media studies but wally, they need to start teaching it from Primary school onwards
I definitely agree Skull Island shows he could potentially do it. He has a clear control of camp and satire
Yes
Monkey Man. Reckon it needs more support.
monkey man
I preferred Monkey Man, but GXK is fun too if you have space in your heart for the sillier aspects of the Monsterverse series. It's no Skull Island though, that's for sure
Yeah I can definitely get down with it being a bit goofy
i hated the Godzilla vs. Kong movie as a staunch Kong: Skull Islander, but i DO want to see Monkey Hell
Speaking of monkey movies, Kong: Skull Island is a spectacular and brilliant monster movie and I will not tolerate its slander anymore.
Tonight I watched Kong Skull Island. It was a bit better than king of the monsters. Maybe tomorrow I’ll watch Kong vs Godzilla?
First of all, yeah, I loved the FUCK out of this movie. In fact, if I were asked to put the Legendary films on a list, I'd rank them as follows:
Kong: Skull Island
Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire
Godzilla King of the Monsters
Godzilla (2014)
Godzilla vs. Kong
Godzilla x Kong is the best Monsterverse movie since Kong: Skull Island. Of all the Monsterverse movies, it also feels the most like a Toho sequel. It’s not a perfect movie, but I had a lot of fun with it.
lol this movie was literally the definition of just barely good enough, godzilla minus one was really cool!! i haven’t actually seen any of the recent america godzilla movies. but i did see skull island which i remember vaguely liking, the lost godzilla vs kong movie was also incredibly meh
Max just made up a Godzilla movie? Godzilla 2099? And he’s fighting Kong Skull Island. Not just Kong. Kong Skull Island. This kid’s imagination is ridiculous.
What a good day a funeral and now two monster movies Kong: Skull island now Godzilla: King of Monsters. Relaxing with my family
Hahaha yeah no surprise there - so we watched the modern ones, started with Kong Skull Island (best one I saw imo) then Godzilla (2014), Godzilla king of the monsters and Godzilla Vs Kong - loved them all
I genuinely forgot how stupidly loaded this cast is in Kong: Skull Island, especially compared to all the Godzilla movies
I know for sure I saw skull island and Godzilla vs Kong. I’m pretty sure I saw the other Godzilla ones too, but I should probably rewatch them bc I can’t really remember them
Okay now I guess I need to see Skull Island, Godzilla vs Kong, Godzilla x Kong, and also Shin and Minus One because I would feel embarrassed to have those both as gaps in my Godzilla education (but also I'm sure I'll love them lol)
I like Godzilla/Kong Skull Island quite a bit, but I'm in favor of it going completely off the rails as much as it wants to
Felt like watching some big monster movies today. Through Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of Monsters so far. Having a good time. Probably going to hit Godzilla vs Kong this evening. Will be good to be all brushed up for New Empire too.
skull island and kong vs godzilla are SO deeply unserious and i fucking LOVE them for it
Kong vs Godzilla was next to insufferable for me. An absolute waste of potential and I didn't even think the monster fights were remotely as good as anything we got in Godzilla 2014 or Skull Island.
I forgot how good Kong: Skull Island is
I am back from seeing Godzilla X Kong, The New Empire.
its.... a film.
It exists in that same spot that the first Godzilla X Kong film did. Its not bad, but I wouldn't say its good either.
Releasing so soon after Minus One really impacts it I think
I heard that in godzilla x kong, the monkey gets to hold a door open for godzilla when he does all the work
Yeah, all big monsters are now Titans and those particular monsters are MUTOs. Also, Kong Skull Island is surprisingly deep for a movie called Kong Skull Island.
I think the loudest I've ever cheered in a movie theater was at the Skull Island post-credit scene.
"Kong... is not the only King."

youtu.beWatching Skull Island with the kids and Hiddleston plays one of the main characters and now I can't unsee Loki vs Kong 😂
The 2014 Godzilla mostly, and Skull Island a little. But I think it mostly stands on its own outside of "Godzilla did some stuff."
