Strange atmosphere in the office today after last week's tragedy
Of course such a post needs a bit more info ....
One of the guys at work was killed in a car crash as he drove out the gates right outside work last Monday night.
His car was hit by a drunk driver.
Oh fuck! That's dreadful.
Yeah it's really shocked everyone. I've worked with him on and off for over 20 years
โน๏ธ๐
Feel sorry for his family. I know his wife
Kid hit and took the mirror off my car on Friday night. Last night his dad showed up at the front door (landlords place) to accuse me of saying his kid was drunk.
Like fuck if I thought he was drunk I wouldn't have let him drive off after.
Tonight I went on a genealogy side trip and learned my great uncle was killed in a car crash in 2003 on the same stretch of road where his dad (my great grandfather) was killed by a drunk driver in 1960. Family History!
There was a guy who lived in his car.
One night his car was hit by another driver.
The other driver sued for damages, and the guy had no insurance.
The guy sold his car to cover the costs.
The guy lives on the street, and still has legal costs hanging over him.
Insurmountable difficulties.
He had a minor car wreck a few years ago (totalled his truck, but nobody was seriously hurt). Of course, he was not wearing his seatbelt, so when he hit the car in front of him, he then hit his forehead on the open window frame and his glasses flew out the window and smashed on the ground
I once flagged down a cop in my neighborhood after a car was in a hit and run. Both the driver of the car that was hit and his wife were in shock, neighbors ran outside to help, I spotted a cop driving by at the top of our street and he yelled at me and demanded to know why I was getting involved.
This is a tragedy and awful for his family and friends. It is time to stop taking the driver out of these reports. A pedestrian has died after being hit by the driver of a car.
Did you hear a drunk driver killed his wife and some of the children? While he was having an affair with the babysitter? He was also at the top of his law class. On his word as a Biden.
There is one more detail I left out: When Ira was hit and killed by the drunk driver, there was actually a warrant for HIS arrest. He was wanted for DRUNK DRIVING. This was a tragedy dark enough to make the Coen brothers blush.
we hired movers for our last move and one of the guys was a 28-year old grandfather who flipped his car doing 90 on the highway a couple years ago and still went to work. He later lost that job because he beat up a guy who was sleeping with his wife
So the Zionist extremist who drove his car into peaceful protestors was released after a single night in jail?
The people he hit with a car also spent a night in cuffs?
my dad was a writer and editor there in the last century (then to car and driver). sharing with him and his pals - great work!
Saw a YouTube short of a delivery driver on his bike who got hit by a car pulling out of a parking space. And his first priority still was to finish his delivery while bleeding.
And the comments all praise him for his "work ethic" and I'm just here wondering what the fuck is wrong with americans.
The film history community has suffered a dreadful loss with the untimely passing of David J. Skal. He was involved in a car crash on New Year's Eve, allegedly hit by a drunk driver, and died the following day from his injuries. R.I.P.

David J. Skal passed away: The world mourns the loss of film historian David J. Skal, renowned for his insights on "Dracula."
medicotopics.comHis wife was doing most of the work in the last couple of years of his administration when he was ill.
LOL on his way from the train, his uber driver got in a crash while he was in the car, and everyone just casually drove away from it like it happens all the time
100%.
An inattentive driver hit me while I was biking home from work in 2016. I now have lower back and hip issues that affect me daily. I was lucky.
One of my favorite humans was killed by a drunk driver a couple of years ago. He wasn't cycling at the time, but carelessness and a car killed him.
I've now looked at The Archers Encyclopaedia (should've done that before), Alistair told Shula his first wife left him for his best friend after years of strained silences and blazing rows.
It also says he told Shula he had a nephew who was killed in a car crash ๐ฒ๐ค#TheArchers
Braking news: A man was found in the parking garage at a nearby mall after he allegedly hit the woman with his head and left him with his car on the sidewalk.
Ok RT this with "breaking news:" followed by whatever autocomplete suggests, eg:
Breaking news: "I was thinking of it but to the curse of the world cup and the last one is the best way to get to the US"
They're grading on a DLC scale.
Joe Biden was also the Valedictorian of his Law School.
And his first wife was killed by a drunk driver.
While I've not read much of his work, he was a guest at Satellite 8 last year and I really enjoyed the interview that @megintransition.bsky.social did with him. My condolences to his family.

He was funny, passionate, incisive and (I have to be honest) not always kind. I feel privileged that I knew him as a person as well as a writer.

fromtheheartofeurope.euShowed a mate the Les Blank documentary A Well Spent Life last night, which has one of the greatest scenes in any doco, as bluesman Mance Lipscombe narrates how his neighbour was a violent drunk until his wife shot off his right leg & made a decent man out of him.
Not shocked at all. Our parked car was 1 of 3 hit by a drunk driver at 5pm on a weekday. He totalled one of the other cars and was drunk as an effing skunk.
Today definitely could have been so much worse.
He was doing his own oil change on a slope with the car in neutral, and the car rolled over him.
