I did this with Panzer Dragoon Orta and Lost Odyssey on OG XBox and 360. Didn't own the respective hardware until years later.
When the Pants Man's working here now.
No pants or dungarees.
He can tear the pants right off the ass
Of any man he sees.
We haven't had water issues with the avocados we've grown so far luckily, but they're picky plants for sure. The last one we grew back in the late 2010s was beautiful and turning into a proper tree, but rapidly died when we repotted it into a bigger pot. :( Was sad to watch.
Of all the science fiction I expected to become science fact in my lifetime, Space Jam was not top of the list.
Fairly certain that at least one person will have incorporated it into a high school book report at some point.
I can't say for certain now, but I'm pretty sure I thought that was the real final line for an embarrassingly long time.
Between that and Milhouse on America's Most Wanted, The Fugitive was ruined for me before I even saw it.
Right? I 100% thought he was an original character. Read years later that Matt Groening hated the episode, fought to get it pulled, and felt like it was the most naked, shallow advertising for another show. Certainly didn't play that way in the UK, I don't think.
Ditto to A Streetcar Named Marge. Had no idea what A Streetcar Named Desire was as a kid, or why a musical version of it was ridiculous, but one of my absolute favourites even now, and I still can't hear "Stella!" without wanting to add "Can't you hear me yell-a, you're putting me through hell-a!".
Like there's a whole episode that's a full on crossover with The Critic, and it was one of my faves as a kid despite not knowing the show or that it was a crossover. Really felt like the writers went out of their way to write pop culture gags that would land even if you didn't get the nod.
Always admired how well early Simpsons did reference-based humour. Was almost never just "hey, remember that thing you liked?", and the gags were folded into the stories of the episodes so well that I found so many of them hilarious years or even decades before getting the reference.
This is the PlayStay Stcion version, actually. Much rarer. Your coworker got a great deal.
Yeah, I took a break after Sands of TIme for the same reason. But would like to go back and give the sequels a go there as well.
I did play a wee bit of Daxter on PSP, which I thought was quite good. <3 But suddenly being plunged into the futuristic setting without the context of Jak 2 was strange.
Was watching a bit of your VOD the other day, and the game is everything I had heard it was. Good luck.
Even the standard model at the bottom is 77000. Wild to think that we went from that to a combined DVD player and cutting edge games console in the PS2 for 39800 just three years later. The latter was, to be fair, seen as an extraordinarily good deal for the time. But still.
Such an amazing game! I only played for the first time in about 2017, but quickly became one of my favourite PS2 titles. Wasn't keen to jump straight into the sequels because of how much they seemed to diverge from what I liked about 1, but think maybe I should try sometime soon.
(Gender arbiters is a badass band name, though. Look out for our upcoming album)
You take what you can, and it's great that so many of us made it, but it was a grim situation in honesty, and I internalised a lot of godawful stuff about being trans due to limited information and poor role models. So find it absurd to see trans folk of my generation acting as gender arbiters now.
Like there was so little information out there when I first started exploring my identity. I think most of what I learned as a school kid came from the hugely problematic transsexual dot org. And I imagine it's even worse for those who are older than me and didn't even have the early internet.
...relatively recently. So it feels, to put it bluntly, a bit fucking naive to think that the picture of gender those of us in the community were fed 25 or 30 years ago would be more accurate than where we are now. We owe it to ourselves to listen and keep learning, not dig our heels in. (3/3)
It's actually been a good thing for me, growing to see myself as one equally valid expression of a wider gender spectrum instead of some broken toy who will never be the cis girl she was "meant" to be. But more than that, we only began to discuss gender identity with this level of openness... (2/3)
I've spoken to nonbinary friends before about how I've been forced to reconsider my own definition of "trans" as an older binary trans person who found her identity through the now ancient "trapped in the wrong body" narrative. But I listened, thought about things, and changed my mind. (1/3)
Remember making RPGMaker games in my teens with the old cracked version of RPGMaker 2000, and pasting together stolen assets from different games with wildly different art styles. So this feels strangely nostalgic.
Reminds me that a friend used Fire Pro Wrestling World a few years back to create Britain Donnington, a silly character I spun out of virtually nothing and turned into a meme for a few months in my Discord community. Wrestling games are the perfect venue for this kind of nonsense.
Beautiful. <3 Do you own the Japanese DVDs / Blu-Rays or something? Interesting to see it with Japanese credits / subtitles, as it's something I always engaged with either dubbed on TV here, or through the western DVD releases and / or rips of the above, which had translated credits obviously.
So excited for the new episodes of Twitter-Men '97. Enjoying the journey of the titular heroes in a world without Professor Twitter.
I spiralled horribly during male puberty, but I didn't know that I had any alternative, so I just did my best to struggle through. Had I known that I didn't have to suffer at all, but people in power actively *wanted* me to, as so many trans teens will now? Fuck, I don't even know. Horrifying.
If it was concern for young folk damaging their bodies before they're developed, we would restrict things like the pill, alcohol, and tobacco to 25 as well. There's no logical basis for this to be different to those, and it's just transparently trying to hurt trans folk and keep us othered.

25 was specifically mentioned within trans communities back when I came out as the age at which hormones start to have diminishing returns. It's totally possible to pass perfectly after that, as everyone is different, but it's markedly more difficult for the vast majority of trans women especially.
Yup, the specific choice of 25 as a recommended age at which you can start hormones is a nakedly obvious attempt to ensure that we all remain irreparably marked by the wrong puberty and easier to identify. There's absolutely no other reason to require people to wait that long.
Wanted to come up with some kind of witty, snide remark as a response, or try to stress solidarity and strength in the face of adversity, but just can't. Exhausted. Fuck this world, fuck this country, and fuck all the absolute ghouls who take so much joy in systematically dismantling our lives.
Struggling to face the day today in light of the news. Trans rights in the UK have been set back to before where they were when I came out in fucking 2010, and I'm genuinely afraid for where we go next. Feel like my heart has been ripped out, and can only imagine what it's like for younger folk.
Last stream was cut abruptly short due to camera issues. Should be fixed now, so let's try that again. <3 www.twitch.tv/barleybap
The former thing is the biggest sticking point for me. Even if you genuinely believe that there are crimes so severe that they merit death, it feels downright monstrous to essentially sentence a small percentage of completely innocent people to death to see that "justice" enacted.
(Was lowkey so much fun, though. Had never owned a laptop and it was before smartphones were commonplace, so being able to watch anime on the bus to and from class was the cutest and most exciting thing)
I remember converting and watching all of Nodame Cantabile, Ouran High School Host Club, and probably some other stuff on my PSP back when I was still semi-reliant on subtitles. The fansubs I was watching at the time didn't always make readability a priority with their subs either. Wild times.
Not a huge problem in the grand scheme of things given that anti-Scottish bigotry isn't a big thing in the modern era, and the stereotypes don't feed into a wider harmful narrative like they can with certain other ethnic groups. But it feels sloppy and enormously cringe as someone who lives here.
As a Scottish person, I think the vast majority of depictions of us by non-Scots are utterly dreadful. Not saying it can't be done well, but it's so rare to see anything beyond Groundskeeper Willie-ish stereotypes. And while that stuff can work for comedy, it's embarrassing when played straight.
