If your corp, govt, or NGO needs fatality planning and remains management, I'm for hire.
Just admit you've never been north of Luton, it's cool.
Bradford or gtfo, and I say this as someone who married a Brummie
Citizenship is in the constitution, green cards aren't. And my husband is still British. You don't have to give up other passports to get a US one (ask me how I know)
The world you grew up in is dead
Work for a better world but also prepare for a worse one. There's time, from now until November, for both.
This reminds me (as does my husband's citizenship ceremony tomorrow) that if you have any identification and travel document renewals or updates to make, make them sooner rather than later.
Yup. Offices are at least staffed right now, and laws won't suddenly be changing overnight for the time being. The wait times aren't as bad as people fear.
That is not what I'm talking about but OK thanks for the info.
I'm talking about migrants and trans people for whom the greater than zero chance of a changed Presidential administration may throw up roadblocks to obtaining necessary, correct ID.

On the plus side, I was able to renew my drivers license without discovering that there were "somehow" multiple warrants for my arrest in states I've never been to this time around. My 2019 renewal issues were suspect as fuck
I know I'm late to this, but holy shit American Fiction is so good.
2 weeks until airlines charge extra to book a "not currently on fire" seat
A Boeing 747-400 with 468 people aboard had to make an emergency landing after one of its engines caught fire and began shooting out flames during takeoff.
None of the flight’s passengers or crew were injured in the chilling incident, and passengers, who were headed to the Hajj, were boarded onto a new flight later Wednesday.
www.thedailybeast.comVery disappointed if it does not contain actual Grandmas
Y'all never worried about what was in those things BEFORE...

McDonald’s is being deliberately vague about the ingredients of its new Grandma McFlurry, but the internet already has theories.
whnt.comAlso a lot are for RNs and other credentialed positions so possibly trying to scrape license details.
Maybe a future recruiter collecting CVs to pitch themselves as established to other hospitals? Dunno.
LOL they are also looking for a trauma program director for Whites City NM (population 0)
The same "company" is also advertising for an ICU nurse in Algodones (population 1036, the only hospital is an animal clinic)
Amusingly fake job ad (Lamy, NM is home to 118 people and has no hospital, full-service or otherwise)
You known this place has the juice when you end up blocking half the people replying to a post you're not even involved in
Comfort buying vintage Tommy Bahama silk shirts, don't judge me
Confort buying vintage Tommy Bahama silk shirts, don't judge me
Sad but somehow not surprising they are still so obsessed.
They won't stop until their enemies are actually dead, and too many people downplay that.
Last I heard it was PSHE delivered by form tutors to Year 6, yes. @justinhancock.bsky.social probably knows more.
Yes, I plan to flog this book forever because it has not for even one second been on the wrong side.
Helpfully, I literally wrote a book about this exact thing in 2012, and was monstered by the Nice Girl Gatekeepers of the UK media for the trouble.

And the same people, now, to a person? They are all loud and proud Terfs.
Plus ça change...
You can just cross out the years and write in "2024" and it would be the exact. Same. Book.
Like, when I wrote about US evangelical money underpinning "research" and press coverage and literally buying journalists like Eleanor Mills over a decade ago *it was not even a new phenomenon then*

We should be having moral panics about evangelical/RCC money, largely from the US, influencing our kids' sex education, imo.

New guidance for schools in England is expected to be set out on Thursday.
www.bbc.co.ukThe problem of misinformation spread by new-ish technology is categorically not taking technology away from young people to ensure they stay ignorant.
The life cycle of these moral panics is so short you have MPs calling for consultations almost before the last one has even closed.
Said it before, but to reiterate:
"Ban social media for under 16s"
"internet-free phones for children"
These ideas may have worked 20 years ago, but that horse bolted so long ago, it's galloped around the planet and is now approaching the stable from the opposite direction

Fuckin America can't even make a truck you can live in when you get priced out of renting anymore
Fun fact: The last gen S-10 shortbed had a 6' bed.
The most common configuration of the current F-150 has a 5'6" bed.
The Cybertruck bed is a fuckin' trapezoid so good luck comparing it to either.
George Romero passed too soon

A mainstay of the pizza and arcade chain, by turns endearing and creepy, will be phased out by year’s end at all but two locations. We visited one of them.
www.nytimes.comThank you, yes, I was very upset when it was announced The Hobbit was to be a trilogy.
Where I grew up every man over 40 was seemingly issued a guayabera shirt, Panama hat, and linen trews and tbh it's still a lewk
I do believe @themountaingoats.bsky.social has a song to much the same effect
There’s a W. P. Kinsella short story, “The Last Pennant Before Armageddon” which postulates that the year the Cubs win the series would usher in the end of the world.
Haha well yes. But I'd understand if someone didn't want to use their real name.
