That person doesn't even look happy about that newfound ability. Yeesh.
::whispers:: please read THE MARQUIS WHO MUSTN'T
I finally got my hands on LINGHUN from the library last week and just OOF.
It was the eyes for me, at least in Brokeback Mountain. (Also, having watched him host SNL, perhaps the knowledge that he's willing to go total ham for a laugh, like in that Beautiful Boys sketch from this year's season finale.
something about Jake Gyllenhaal's face where i just want to keep looking at him. like obviously he's attractive but there's something else there. he's like the human version of the tape from Infinite Jest
Hi yes read Jordan's thread, he has plenty of wise things in here.
shower thoughts:
there’s a lot of “personal responsibility” put upon the individual to SAVE large systemic problems (the climate, democracy, business models), when it’s the corporations that are “personally responsible” for basically ruining these things in the first place
the root? meritocracy

Thank you! I've ordered two more of Long's designs since I got this one, since this is a lot of fun to do!
Me: guh these woven wheel roses aren't PERFECT CIRCLES
also me: well, that's the point of the sampler, to practice.
Belated as hell update to the embroidery sampler, so belated that I can't be bothered to locate the thread (and this is not a request for anyone to do so). Might be getting the hang of woven wheel roses, just in time for a sampler that has LOTS of them:
Oh, my, apologies for that, then. I do appreciate that permission, though--it's something I've been trying to break free of, especially since it tends to slow me down in terms of motivation.
Thank you for the link, by the way! I'll check it out after work.
Thank you for writing it! I AM A.I. is still on my library hold list!
also, the INTERNET BILL, which keeps going up and cannot be negotiated down for very much (THANKS, XFINITY)
My property taxes (and therefore mortgage payments) keep going up, as does auto insurance, and then of course, the estimated federal taxes...
none of these interactions have ever ended well when I've let them slide! NONE
truth, especially for better actress for Ling'er and Xianxia Ross.
Every time I see multiple back-to-back likes/comments in my Instagram notifications the red flags pop up.
I feel like you need a medal for how you've put up with me telling you about the 2005 version of Sword and Fairy 1 and all those awful changes that were solely for TEH DRAMZ.
I read today's post and was baffled at how long it took for LW to disengage? Disconnect from that particular friend? IDK.
...it might help me get out of writing ruts faster where I'm trying to write everything In Order from A to B when I really just want to get to G.
This is something I've been wanting to do, but never felt like I had "permission," because they were scenes that would be out of order (i.e. taking place somewhere in the middle or end of the story when I was still further away). IDK if that was what OP had in mind? But...
WRITING TIP, something simple but it catches many of us out: if you have a great/fun idea for your story, *use it now*.
Don’t save your ideas for some nebulous other story you might write tomorrow. I promise you’ll have more.
Break your story’s status quo. Go a step further. Use the big idea.
Last reskeet: I saw FURIOSA with a friend over last weekend and it was so damn good I have a hankering to watch FURY ROAD again. Watch it if you've got a chance!
@kurellian.bsky.social has a reading style I'd absolutely kill for and is one of the sweetest people I've had the privilege of meeting, @mishafletch.bsky.social is so lovely and patient and a great fiber arts buddy, and @orangepeelpanda.bsky.social has tolerated me yelling about Sword and Fairy 1.
Inspired by @floregonian.com, let's put some positivity on the skyline - either in the comments here or wherever you want to, say something nice about someone you've met here - I've been thinking a lot about community lately and I think it's good to highlight what we have from time to time
I really need to hear this, as someone in my early 40s with a day job.
2016 me absolutely needed to hear this, over and over again.
Darlings, a moment.
You are *not* hard to love. If someone made you feel that way, that is 100% about THEM and their own bullshit.
Loving people is easy. None of us are perfect. We're all quirky, with flaws and baggage.
But love doesn't give a damn about that minutiae.
I went in reading LINGHUN by @aijiang.bsky.social before bed thinking "just a chapter or two, it's late" and wound up finishing the entire thing. It's a book that will suck you in about grief and loss, framed through a housing shortage, and the connections running through it. Read it if you haven't!
Gee golly, there are a lot of folks whose heads I'd like to bonk over with this skeet, because I have been trying to say this for YEARS.
(also, that probably includes *my* head, full disclosure.)
So, I don't know if you guys all know this, but if you never express your needs and desires, your loved ones don't know about them and can't meet them? And if you do express them, they can? Wild.
I love it, though--it's not quite lychee, but it's definitely an aquatic tart fruity-floral that's not soapy or cloying, which is what I love about this. It's so nice for the warmer months (which get disturbingly earlier with every coming year).
Today's scent was Sorcellerie's Ancient Waters of Venus, which is: "An opening of bright, sugared lychee with a hint of almond softens to a delicate blend of pink lotus absolute, peony, siam wood, cool water and rising mist." Currently available only by special order! sorcellerieapothecary.com
oh yes, apparently even that light a weight makes the sensor think you have a passenger on there
this...*may* have been the second time I've done this ever since I've had this car (which is roughly 13 years), but it probably happened so long ago that I completely forgot about it because I figured "it was just some quick grocery shopping, no biggie" until I did a left turn, triggering the alarm.
it turns out a cabbage, a purse, and some Korean groceries are enough to trigger the front passenger seat belt alarm!
During the OCAC year I was in for Mandarin study, we had a talent show, and the featured guest was Chen Shui-bian, then president of Taiwan.
What's something about you that sounds made up but it's not? Mine is one time I made a t shirt for my bicycle gang and it looked too much like a motorcycle club logo so I had to go before a Bandidos general and plead my case to use it and also not to be killed
Welp, after today I will never load up groceries in the front passenger seat again, because getting sudden incessant beeping on the way home is super disconcerting.
