I had a Grant Morrison joke but it only makes sense a week from now in another universe.
I had a John Byrne joke but I got mad and quit telling it in a huff right after I started.
The tortoise heard about that new comic, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and wanted to be first in line to get one.
Too true. It's crazy to see the measures that are taken to reinforce gender inequality.
I love this explanation! We need more of this in every sort of media.
[villainesses being evil]...without being explained away by child loss or sexual assault, and to free them of the preconceived notion they should be morally punished for their deeds...
Looks like it's going to be a fantastic piece of comics history. Does Marvel have a similar thing?
Guinness, champagne, and a cigarette butt lurking like the tequila worm. Sounds delightful.
I finally know my orientation! I had SIX children by the time I was 40! It kinda sucked not knowing for so long, though.
Why don' ya go back ta that fancy show'a yers? It's a reeaal nice show. It sure would be a shame if somethin' were ta happen ta it.
It's most annoying when that dogma is presented and never refuted by others. Instead, it's taken as true by all and the story continues with that dogma as, if not a central theme, one that created impetus and is used extensively to advance plot.
Ultimately, it doesn't really matter. This is just a silly story in a four-color-comic. It's also easy to attribute the dogmatism as a character flaw in the villain.
In this case, that corporations can get away with anything as long as they're making fun of themselves while they do it. I feel like there's plenty of people that will still decry the evils of corporations regardless of how much they self-lampoon. That's simply not enough to swing the pendulum.
Agger's plan hinges on a trope I have come to truly dislike. It's one that's especially prevalent in anime. Eventually, a character begins to preach based on a single dogmatic principle that they seem to hold as incontrovertibly true.
I like this. The panels you posted were pretty great, other than the one with Agger explaining his nefarious plan, which I'll get to. I miss the tongue-in-cheek parodies from days of yore. I never missed a chance to read What The...!?, Mad Magazine, Cracked, etc.
Looks like a good time! I love that you got to meet the Simonsons. Nice haul, too.
Also, if BLCC gets big enough, expect the SDCC to come down HARD. There's no SLCCC anymore (now FanX) because apparently the SDCC owns the "CC" even though they weren't the first to use it. Buncha pricks.
Four. Missing. Pieces. This is maddening. Probably the most deceptively tough puzzle I've put together. There are SO many muddy green or vaguely red pieces that blend together. #PuzzleLife #MissingPieces #ComicPuzzle #TheJusticeLeague #DCComics #ThomasKinkade
Yeah, I think the coolest thing that's come out of the whole event are the lasting characters. There's Clone Jesus as well as Saint (a.k.a. John Zebedee). I love Saint's character arc, great friend of Jesus', feels honor-bound to carry on after Jesus' death, even keeps going after Jesus comes back.
I think the biggest shock for me was finding out that The Last Son of God (a.k.a. The Resurrector) was actually the Apostle Paul the whole time.
The inclusion of "ope" killed me. I am dead.
Also, very informative. I love this thread. We need more people like you online, helpfully explaining things like this.
Eloquently and alliteratively put.
"Cherry stories can be puerile and prurient parodies or fun fantastical fables in not-quite equal measure, but often within the same story."
CGC 8.5??? Worthless. Why, I wouldn't even force my house staff to use that for toilet paper.
That WW 7a cover is beautiful. 7c is great, too, but I really like that first one.
Lugosi: You vant to aim for the seven pin!
Karloff: HIT PIN GOOD!
Lorre: Be QUIET! I know how to throw a bomb...I mean, a bowling ball.
NGL, at first glance I thought the Teen Titans were taken over by Plastic Man clones or something. They look all stretched and bendy.
It makes pi day harder to celebrate, too April 31 isn't on any of my calendars.
Instant classic. Starburst and Skittles had consistently great ads.
I imagine they saved a considerable amount of money reducing the physical dimensions of the collection, but man, a full-sized book would have been really cool.
As a follow up to my last #ShortBox, today's #MailCall showcases the somewhat worse for wear hardcover collection of the #comics I was talking about.
In my last Short Box I mentioned that this was on its way. And now I’m telling you that it’s arrived. Wednesday Comics HCFront Wednesday Comics HCBack It’s a bit scuffed up, which…

"Can you explain this gap in your resume?"
There was this, um, guy? Called himself the Beyonder? Anyway, he beamed a bunch of good and bad guys to this planet he made out of chunks of other planets in the middle of nowhere and...ah, never mind...I took some time off to find myself.
"Can you explain this gap in your resume?"
That was when my friends and I were trapped in the realm of Dungeons & Dragons and had to battle the evil Venger to find our way home, with only the cryptic ramblings of an inscrutable old man who appeared and disappeared at random to guide us.
Happy leap day!
In honor of the day, a joke I made years ago is made new again in the form of a shitty #comic!
#LeapDay
“Ziggy says you gotta leap back and prevent Jon from making this comic.” I wrote this joke in a post on social media years ago, but I figured I’d make it into a (shitty) comic in …
www.opendoor-comics.comI never did get that 10 speed... I did sell greeting cards and stationary for Olympic Sales Club. I made a handful of sales to my neighbors and family. I'm pretty sure I got a cheap calculator watch or solar calculator. What I'm saying is, #TellMeYouGrewUpAsANerdWithoutSayingYouGrewUpAsANerd

A conversation with @hawksco.bsky.social about the banner ads on Marvel comics way back when led him to discover this, which I figured some of you would appreciate.
Remember back in the early 1980s (the late summer of 1980 and the autumn/winter of 1981 to be precise) when the covers of your favorite Marvel comics had those obnoxious banner ads right on top,
classiccomics.orgThose WW covers keep poppin! I also love that they're sticking to (or returning to, IDK, your BFF Jericho?) the classic costumes. Being completely out of the loop, I'm just gawking at the covers.

www.opendoor-comics.comWords cannot describe how much I love this.
Sounds a little like BPRD without the BPRD. Still, looks like it would be a fun read. Also, I like a positive review mixed in with the usual Short Boxes.

www.opendoor-comics.comI read this right after responding to a text from my dad asking to come help set up a brand new $300 laptop...
Another topical movie reference in my latest shitty comic.
I bet Palpatine had many drawers of candy tins that were filled with mismatched screws, and stacks of LIFE magazine piled up in the garage.
“I’ll give you a Werther’s Original after you dewit!” I watched a reaction to Episode IX today and the idea amused me, so here we are.
www.opendoor-comics.comAction #1062A is chilling. Which is odd, considering that is one of the things Bizarro hardly ever achieves.
