Did he repeal the Affordable Care Act and replace it with something better? Did he build the wall and get Mexico to pay for it? It’s a shortcoming of the reporting to be like “Hey, this is just what this guy wrongly believes. It would be partisan to contradict him.”
If you set aside all the horse-race polling stuff in the article, there’s really no addressing Trump’s record. I know voters are treated as sacred, but this is just untrue. He can believe and vote for a thing that’s wrong, but it’s odd for WP to just repeat it.
The one economic policy “achievement” of the Trump administration was a massive tax cut for corporations. Not exactly someone who’s passionate about ensuring home ownership for the struggling middle class.
In 2016, you could at least argue that no one knew how Trump would govern since he had never held a government job. We have four years of evidence that shows he’s largely indifferent to any suffering that doesn’t touch him directly.
I don’t think these frustrations are unfounded, but the obvious follow-up has to be, “Why do you think Trump would better address these issues?”
For nearly two decades, Nevada was one of the most promising opportunities for Democrats on the battleground map.
But at a time of deep frustration about housing costs, inflation and gas prices, recent polls suggest that Nevada could be slipping from President Biden’s grasp.
No Republican presidential candidate has won Nevada since George W. Bush in 2004, but Democratic margins have narrowed in recent presidential elections.

I don't think MEGALOPOLIS or HORIZON will tear up the box office.
I also don't think that it matters.
Box office returns won't recognize the value of directors achieving their vision.

Unless you’re Joel or Ethan Coen, you’re not allowed to harm Steve Buscemi.
Nine days after the actor Steve Buscemi was punched in the face on a Manhattan street, a man has been charged with second-degree assault, the NYPD said.
The police recognized the suspect, Clifton Williams, when they went to the scene of another dispute on Friday.
www.nytimes.comI'm not saying that there's no value in trying to explain the stakes of keeping Woody Allen at UA in the late 70s rather than having him follow Arthur Krim to Orion, but it doesn't feel all that essential to the massive flop you've put at the center of your narrative.
Had to tap out of FINAL CUT after 116 pages. I know it's on THR's list of 100 Best Movie Books, but there's no momentum to this thing. It's not a bad snapshot of late 70s Hollywood, but at some point, you need to get to the Heaven's Gate of it all rather than tangents about your co-workers.
A fascinating tell here is that Maher, who made a whole-ass movie about how he thinks religion is dumb, is totally down with Butker’s religion keeping women down.
wow, notorious misogynist Bill Maher has no idea why women are mad at the sexist place kicker telling us we belong in the kitchen and don't need to use our brains to have thoughts, surprise surprise
For sure. Their conception of women is that they exist solely for the benefit of men, which is so fucking dumb and childish.
I feel like Harrison Butker and Samuel Alito have the same view of women: stay in the kitchen until it’s time to throw you under the bus.
HBO makes a lot of good programming decisions, but indifferently leaving REAL TIME on the air is a waste of resources. There are so many younger, sharper comedians that could do a politics panel show.
Watching LIFEBOAT, and I have to admit it’s pretty clever how Hitchcock gets his cameo in there.
I’ve seen Challengers twice. My favorite film of the year so far.
While I admire Costner risking his personal assets for HORIZON, the trailer is like “Look! I’m still a tough guy!” when Eastwood (who was even younger than Costner is now when UNFORGIVEN came out) used that movie to show the futility of the gunslinger.

Wicked, the untold story of the witches of Oz, stars Emmy, Grammy and Tony winning powerhouse Cynthia Erivo (Harriet, Broadway’s The Color Purple) as Elphaba, a young woman, misunderstood because of her unusual green skin, who has yet to discover her true power, and Grammy-winning, multi-platinum recording artist and global superstar Ariana Grande as Glinda, a popular young woman, gilded by privilege and ambition, who has yet to discover her true heart. The two meet as students at Shiz University in the fantastical Land of Oz and forge an unlikely but profound friendship. Following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads and their lives take very different paths. Glinda's unflinching desire for popularity sees her seduced by power, while Elphaba's determination to remain true to herself, and to those around her, will have unexpected and shocking consequences on her future. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfill their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West. The film also stars Oscar® winner Michelle Yeoh as Shiz University’s regal headmistress Madame Morrible; Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton, Fellow Travelers) as Fiyero, a roguish and carefree prince; Tony nominee Ethan Slater (Broadway’s Spongebob Squarepants, Fosse/Verdon) as Boq, an altruistic Munchkin student; Marissa Bode in her feature-film debut as Nessarose, Elphaba’s favored sister; and pop culture icon Jeff Goldblum as the legendary Wizard of Oz. The cast of characters includes Pfannee and ShenShen, two conniving compatriots of Glinda played by Emmy nominee Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live) and Bronwyn James (Harlots), and a new character created for the film, Miss Coddle, played by Tony nominee Keala Settle (The Greatest Showman). Wicked is produced by Marc Platt (La La Land, The Little Mermaid), whose films, television shows and stage productions have earned a combined 46 Oscar® nominations, 58 Emmy nominations and 36 Tony nominations, and by multiple Tony winner David Stone (Kimberly Akimbo, Next to Normal), with whom Platt produced the blockbuster Wicked stage musical. youtu.beI liked where X-MEN ‘97 ended up, which I wouldn’t exactly call a hopeful place.

Am I the only one who remembers that the last time they “debated” Trump just yelled a lot and Biden said, “Man, do you ever shut up?”
Anyway, I don’t think seeing two super-old guys jawing at each other will do either campaign any favors.
It's official: The first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden will take place on June 27 at 9 p.m. EST and will be hosted by CNN.

www.washingtonpost.comI didn't hate A Quiet Place Part II, but my only memory of it is, "Hey, is that Scoot McNairy?" (it was)
Maybe I'm misreading the politics, but Biden wanting to "debate" Trump feels like a desperation born out of bad polling. Biden wants to change the narrative and contrast himself against Trump, but this isn't the 1980s. He's not one debate away from knocking out his opponent.
I’d say it aged worse. At least no one paid money for the Imagine video.
As the excellent first season of X-MEN ‘97 comes to a close, I can’t help but wonder if Beau DeMayo was fired because he did something bad or because Marvel just loves firing showrunners.
While I don’t think undecided voters are going to make a decision in May, this is still just morally abhorrent. It also shows that Israel will face no consequences beyond minor delay when they need to know that they’re becoming an international pariah.
Breaking news: The Biden administration advances over $1 billion in weapons deals for Israel, said U.S. officials familiar with the matter, a major transfer of lethal aid after the White House paused a single shipment of 2,000-pound bombs last week.
The decision underscores that President Biden remains intent on surging arms into Israel despite pausing a shipment of 2,000 pound bombs last week.
