"Oh wow she really thought being a professor and a white woman would protect her" if you aren't taking any risks yourself fucking shut up or get out there. stop insisting everyone who isn't cowardly is stupid just to protect your own ego

It's also just amazing to watch cops blow up their reputation over and over, to different sub groups of people. She will never trust cops again, her co-workers and family won't. Many probably that had previously trusted cops. They think they have limitless good will.
That or they think they don’t need it.
Ding ding ding
I try to take heart in that. The juxtaposition of stuff like Uvalde vs. this week. You know people don't like that. It just takes so long to really soak in.
But she did think that. Plenty of white people turned their head when it was happening to black students and faculty.
Unless you are a mind reading psychic, you are being actively unhelpful and divisive. Who benefits from your nagscolding?
Pointing that white people expect different treatment from cops is unhelpful. I don’t care. Just y’all don’t care when it happens to us
Again, are you a mind reader? How does lumping everyone together based on their (assumed, by you) race and giving them (assumed, by you) negative traits help build any coalition? How do we all work together if you determine everyone is your enemy and never allow them to be anything else?
There is no coalition with people like her or you. How can we work together when you consistently ignore what happens to me? She thought she was exempt and found out she wasn’t. I just have eyes and see, that’s how I can tell.
let me ask it this way.
If a kid doesn't know how to do something, like tying their shoe, and then they figure it out, how much time do you spend making fun of their ignorance? Will this make them more likely to learn from you in the future? Or will it make them resent and avoid you?
Stop engaging with the fbi account please
they aren't FBI, just someone larping.
Oh wait.
She’s a grown woman who went to segregated schools for a good chunk of her life. She knows. I know and you know too
So how does saying "I told you so" build coalition?
Oh, I forgot. You'd rather have no coalition so you can continue to bemoan no one being on your side and wallow in victimhood. Poor, poor friendless, and victimized you, all alone and no one helping (because you rejected all help).
And if you think you can “well technically” your way out of it, you are wrong and obviously had the same assumption that she did — the cops only do that to “those” people
not sure why you are expressing your opinions to me when you have decided i am not worth wasting your time on.
Rubbing it in you face is fun
She was arrested *intervening* in a student's arrest
Yeah, I really don’t want to hear it from the armchair activists.
Said the armchair activist oblivious to the irony.

"Oh wow she really thought being a professor and a white woman would protect her" -- someone who has never been arrested standing up for anything
With Uvalde, we learnt that the cops won't protect you if they don't want to. With Emory and Columbia, we learnt that the cops will fuck you up if they want to
They always convince themselves the cops will show up to protect them, and that somehow they can hire more cops than there will be angry people.
"Oh wow she really thought being a professor and a white woman would protect her"—in the context of a woman intervening during a cop's brutalization of a student, yeah she thought it might protect someone else what a loser right? she should've stayed home and done Privilege Acknowledgements instead

It’s always so surreal to me when I meet people who think cops are good?? They’re always like, “who’s gonna protect you from crime?”
COPS LITERALLY STOOD OUTSIDE A CLASSROOM AND LET KIDS GET MURDERED??
Cops protect rich people’s property. They abuse EVERYONE else.
"I can't believe she thought being a white lady would protect her!" I'm begging you to consider that maybe she just saw a person being mistreated and wanted it to stop. That's a good thing!
It’s like telling a woman in an abusive relationship she needs to appease her husband. Then telling her to call the cops when it gets out of hand. The cops take her husband’s word she is overreacting. They ignore his public threats. He eventually kills her. Everyone wonders why she never spoke up.
Sadly it is surprising to a lot of people who still see cops as there to "protect" us. They really believe cops are good and there are just a few bad ones. It has not sunk in how pervasively bad cops are. And I am someone who thinks we NEED cops for certain things.
Trusting the cops to protect you is, as has been proven over and over again, a fatal error.
100%. And yet, if you know any cops personally, they will be the first to tell you: always shut up and hire a lawyer. That is the advice they will give their friends and family.
When cops get into a car chase over something stupid, especially when they have evidence to follow up on, and innocents die I also blame the cops.
I don't trust cops to investigate anything honestly, and it baffles me people would trust self-appointed content cops to have any more integrity than actual cops. It's fucking STUPID.
yeah, i think what happens here is you tell the cops they abused you, they show the cops your consent video, then the cops tell you to pound sand. police aren't really known for being SWer allies. if anything they go back to their desks and pull up your clips to watch.
Also more and more examples of how cops don't exist to protect people they exist to protect property
"Cops think of all non-cops as less than they are, stupid, weak and evil. They dehumanise the people they are sworn to protect and desensitise themselves in order to do
that job."
Niani is just ONE example of many more you can look up where the cops have killed the people they were supposed to be helping.
Cops beat and murder or arrest disabled folks or folks in mental crisis. over 40% cops ADMIT to being abusive to their families (meaning the real number is well over 50%)
Even if they aren't, they are. Seeing this and not trying to change it makes you a bad cop.
There ARE no good cops. Good cops are killed or forced out; there are only bad cops and former cops.
Oh I saw that there other day on imgur, they were insisting the cops had no choice but to BLOW UP A WHOLE FUCKING NEIGHBORHOOD.
Cops think helping out the homeless is a horrible crime but won't ever lift a finger to actually help out the communities they claim to "protect and serve".
The only "protect and serve" cops do is for their rich benefactors who love to use them as private hired muscle.
This is an amazing story. Houston criminalized feeding the homeless, Food not Bombs continued to do so, the city has ticketed them dozens of times and occasionally arrested members but hasn’t been able to get a single conviction. www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston...
Roughly 90 tickets have been issued since March to volunteers with the loosely organized Food Not Bombs, which serves meals to people in need.
www.houstonchronicle.comThe people mocking a faculty member for having the audacity to say “I’m a professor!” while being arrested are missing the point that she was trying to stop the cops from arresting her student in the first place. She thought her role gave her the ability to protect her student, just like a lot of us
“I-If we do…go over there…Can I at least have a hood and mask until we see someone you trust?”
Korina was very tense. She had her guard up. She thought if someone saw her, they would try to tranquilize her again.
The state is not your friend, the cops exist to protect the state, giving cops the mandate to disarm people will result in their usual targets being disarmed first and foremost, whether that's racial minorities, LGBT people or just your average wierdo who isn't a bluelives bootlick.
There's very few people who become cops to serve and protect. They want a badge and a gun and permission to kick ass.
Officer, your rebuttal? Verbal, if you will.
