Time flies. More so as we age. It may feel as a scary lack of control. The best way I found to combat this feeling of helplessness, is to press pause. Every now and then take a moment to appreciate what is going on through all our senses and breath.

One of our talented bloggers, Max, is going through a rough time so if you have a bit to spare, anything is appreciated! Feel free to share this, as well, we appreciate it!

Here we are, me and you
Feeling lost and feeling blue

Now's the time for us to say
Happy New Year
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend
Happy New Year
May we all have our hopes, our will to try
If we don't we might as well lay down and die
You and I

I share this both as a note to self and to all of us who create and share, that there is no way of knowing where the ripples of our efforts may lead. Let us then appreciate all the more when we hear back, when the ripples return to remind us of what we started. 😌
Every morning when I log into Salesforce I take a deep breath and appreciate the moment. This is what life is all about
It's the start of a new week which is full of possibilities. Remember, you never know what someone is going through so do your best to be as kind as you can. It's okay to rest and take time for you and it's okay to take a moment to breathe. You can do this. I believe in you.💗
Now we have the access to know what's going on, more or less, and the ability to say what we think of it. To some extent, this comes with an obligation to do both. But our levers of control are extremely weak. We may think as carefully as we like. Our best thoughts won't bring nations to heel.
It used to be that the average person had so little access to public discourse beyond their neighborhood, village, or cave that they had no idea what was going on nationally or internationally. They didn't have to have the right opinion about nearly anything; they didn't meaningfully have opinions.
I like to have control.
Of my time, my work, and my future.
But control is an illusion — and so is our lack of it.
Control is an illusion we create to justify what happens to us.
To be positive for a moment, I think the positive backlash to all of these reactionary and degenerative forces in our politics is closer than we think. But it will take as much as we can give—and then more to make it stick.
I hope that means there's still the potential for us to build a better world. Because honestly, it does feel like the inertia has passed to commit to things like free healthcare in the US, fairer wages, etc. I hope you're right that the moment hasn't gone-- I hope it's within my lifetime.
Solidarity to all of you. We are all under attack, we just don’t all realize it. Our grief is legion and we’re not free to move through it how we need to
Nihilism isn’t always an enemy. We are people who *feel* these emotions, deeply. Sometimes “all of this is meaningless” is a way to take a breath
This Cass report is going to get people killed and it is going to be used as the driver to get rid of all of our care.
Best learn to DIY. We will all be needing to do so in a years time Methinks.
This has been so fucking normalized in this debate and I am more than a little bitter that trans and LGBTQ+ orgs didn't take a strong stand against it years ago, when they might have nipped it in the bud.
Online target affinity is a bias, we read something that resonates with us and we feel connected to it and we expand the context of what we’ve read to extend beyond the intended meaning as a way to keep ourselves feeling like we have some measure of control over the chaos in our lives and then react
Every time i go ot a press event, this is what I feel like inside, and its amazing to now have a visual representation of it.
I agree, Gillian. Some may say fuck it, and we know what that means. This is the time to organize. This is the time to choose violence. Our existence as marginalized people of all stripes depends on it.
As this works on an individual level, it also works on a cultural level
Right now we have less impact on our Spheres of Concern that most of us have ever had before, and that’s scary. So our communities need to get tighter, and we need to spend more time in them
This is our best survival strategy
Many of us are not people who tolerate frustration remarkably well. And even if we did, this is a particularly frustrating and anxiety-provoking moment in history
The more we can stay focused on our individual Spheres of Control, and of Influence, the more impact we can have on our own experience
IMHO this feeling of collective helplessness is probably the root cause of why there is so much infighting in leftist spaces. We feel paralyzed and unable to do as much good in the world as we'd like, so we choose to believe that cleansing our spaces of perceived evils is the next best thing.
so much of online discourse these days feels like it's truly just revealing how fucking helpless so many of us feel and how much we hate feeling that way
I didn't cry all the way through this; just the last 9 minutes. Take a moment to appreciate that we are so damned lucky to be alive at the same time as talent like this.
For the first time ever, John and Tori joined Jacob on stage to perform a live rendition of ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ at The Greek Theatre on May 20th, 20...

I feel like that was part of the point, sadly.
We found a way to sift through the BS and get real-time information from the source and they had to wreck it as swiftly and efficiently as possible.
The flooding of disinformation is decimating our ability to find truth on that site anymore. *sigh*
You do not deserve any of it, and the world is chaos
What I personally know as I'm working through this is to pull back as much as possible, downsize things to get more time, schedule ME time more often, take a break, work on boundaries going forward
I'm sorry this is on your plate.
May this photo serve as a reminder to pause, breathe, and appreciate the present, while never losing sight of our dreams and the path we are carving out for ourselves. Here's to embracing every moment with grace, strength, and an unwavering spirit.
One of the best parts of @levarburton.bsky.social Reads is “Now: let’s take a deep breath…and…begin.”
More things need to remind us to take a deep breath and focus.
We may receive unusual insights through our senses now, and though we may feel the urge to shake things up a little, it is only so that we may shift in the direction that better aligns with our values and intuitive wisdom.

And time and time again we were blown off with vague reinforcements of their terms of service, as if it was unable to be changed.
All of this is a long way to say that Second Life is going through these issues due to a lack of meaningful oversight and input from its users and LL should resume -
I went through a traumatic death at her age and it caused so much damage for a very long time. It terrifies me to think of her going through all of that. I want her to feel supported no matter what she's feeling. But I also know we can't navigate this alone! Getting her therapy is a goal.
